  1. Nice bird Jay! That other wiley one will be a team effort for your daughter and you. You didn't get him the other day cause he was meant for her! Way to go!!
  2. No trees in the way that i can see! Blast em!
  3. looks just like hair loss this year the deer have looked the worst I have ever seen them. All of them seem scraggly
  4. wasnt happy when the yanks got him. Big contract and lots of injuries with the sox as well. Big talent but hurt so often. And they had Gardner then that could lead off. I was def disappointed in Pavano. Thought that was gonna be a good pickup. Hurt himself every 10 minutes it seemed. And crazy types of injuries - ruptured spleen snow shoveling, bruised buttocks, wrecked his porshe and hurt ribs - WTH! He did hook up with Alyssa Milano and then cashed in 40 mil as a yankee but thats not getting him in Monument park! And then has a decent career with the Twinkies!
  5. Kinky hobby you got there.......lol
  6. dunno if you ve got one yet but a rangefinder is a bowman's best friend. They sure are handy. I tend to use mine to range a couple of spots from the stand to get a base of distance. But also like to practice with a target and guess the range and see how close i was. Helps you get used to judging even if you dont get to range the deer itself.
  7. maybe you can record them and play it back in the woods and attract some toms! good luck tomorrow ! back on the horse!
  8. It's a good idea to use bug spray and permethrin. But here's the prob. You can get bit anytime as well. Mowing the lawn, grilling outside, walking the dog, getting your mail. That stuff cert lowers risk while in the woods. But if you hunt behind your house guess what they also live in your yard. And if I got bit I would take the antibiotics. They usually only prescribe a couple to head off infection if no symptoms. I dont .take any prescription meds and never take antibiotics for anything so am gonna take it for Lyme if bitten. Know guys 3 guys that are very debilitated from not catching it soon enough. There are lots of different variables of antibiotics as well off needed. They are def over prescribed a lot but if you don't take a lot of antibiotics don't take the risk with Lyme. If you were only bit for sure for just a few minutes maybe but if unsure I would take them.
  9. from having lyme disease myself - get the antibiotic! I had a weekend of terrible migraines and fever and on Sunday night had a bulleye rash on the back of my knee. Never saw a tick or knew i got bit. 24 hours later felt much better. I knew something was wrong as i never get bad headaches etc. Havent had any problems since. A buddy of mine didnt get it diagnosed right away and he got bells palsey for a few days til they finally tested him for Lyme.
  10. Hope u find him!! Good luck. If I was closer I'd help you look.
  11. too bad the fisher didnt get one of those instead. Maybe bobcat possible too?
  12. Managed two of these today. Both were like twin 17". Slept in a little this morn but had the day off and had to get the bass boat out for first time this year. The creeks are packed with walleyes still since it's such a late spring. Prob the latest spawn I've seen in years. But they are killing them in the crick. When I went out there were 8 boats in a spot you can about cast across at fish crick. Too crowded for me. So I fished the lake a bit by the canal mouth. Got two eyes and a perch. The water is so cold yet. A day off of work and a little fishing is always good. First walleye of the year.
  13. Congrats!!!! Good for you Dan and the new misses! Must be a special gal to rope in and tie the knot on the infamous pygmy!
  14. I was out til the end credits at high noon. Had a gobbler on the roost and about 5:45 he made a bee line for me except directly behind me. To about 20 yards and busted me and ran off. 10 minutes later on opposite side of field a shot. So after a bust and a shot I went across the road. Had a yote sneak up ony decoys to about 20yards. Then moved 300 yards to a different field and had a deer stomp and walk around my dekes for 30 minutes. Went back to original spot thinking maybe I could bring that Tom back, just setup in the woods instead of field edge about 200 yards away. About 1/2 mile away there was someone working with equipment and everytime they banged the bucket from a loader there would be gobbles probably 500 yards away. Tried calling , one sounded like it came a.little closer but never saw it or had it get close enough. Lots of gobbles and wildlife around. Good morning, but no turk in the truck. Got tomorrow off and gonna try another spot. Think I got busted cause the woods are sooooo wide open. He came behind me so close that I moved to look and that's all it took.
  15. Definitely!! Ive gathered enough gobbles to get us all to Thanksgiving and haven't had a chance to touch the trigger yet. Nice bird and pic. Well done!
  16. Put in a solid day of fishing today. Went after big northerns and never saw one all day. Thank goodness for some incidental smallmouth to keep some action. Nice ones 4 lbers but not what we were fishing for. Went to my secret northern pike spot that I haven't been to in 2 years. We've been going there for years in the early spring and never see another boat. Well word must be out as there were 6 other guys that pulled in right behind us. Wind really made it tough to fish , we were flying down the lake and really need to fish slow after ice out. Anyway we still had a great day but the northerns ain't what they used to be there for sure. Had some friends catch some nice walleyes this morn on Oneida tributaries. And one of my staff got 2 salmon, a steelie and a laker on Ontario this morn. Saw a ton of big ole Tom's on the way to fish this morn. Tomorrow back in the turkey woods!
  17. Thanks, def will if we get some once we are back in cell range. We will most likely catch and release . But the big ones are easy to take out the Y bones with pliers. And they are good eating. Although if I break my personal record of 43" I'm gonna be tempted to wall hang it. Lol. Prob not unless it pushes 50". If one takes a lure too deep we would keep it though.
  18. yeah think a lot of people might not go now. There is a tornado watch for Oneida county now til 10 pm..... batten down the hatches!
  19. amazing video!! except it makes me feel a little dumb that i cant call one of those in most of the time and you couldve gotten one there with a rake! lol.
  20. lol we probably shared some of the same water at times. I used to wade off the Sylvan beach every year for the opener. And we did best on the gold/black back rapalas! Yeah those waves get a bit scary on that lake.
  21. Its a big night around here tonite. The walleye/pike opener at midnight. In my younger days i would be out there at midnight., Many nights came home with a limit by 2 am and my limit of beers too! But the lake will be busy this weekend. I actually will be fishing for northerns in the Dacks tomorrow even though i live right on Oneida lake. Too many people opening weekend and i have a secret northern spot I am headed for early am - two hour drive but its usually worth it. Never see another boat there and can only get the rowboat with a 4hp on the lake. It was always a neat event though , all the people fishing the banks/wading and the creeks for the spawners that are left. The fire department is usually out selling hot coffee and cocoa and hot dogs etc... Best of luck if your going out. its always fun to drop a 40" + northern in this little boat with 2 guys! lol ( not the lake we are fishing this weekend in pic but I use this boat in the dacks a lot and some local ponds)
  22. This doesn't seem right. Someone call Darwin!
  23. Officially switched to summer blend
