the funny thing is she could probably out "boy" scout us all. She has a daughter, three adopted kids and two foster kids and takes them all camping by herself for an entire week. There ought to be a badge for that!
-
right and there is also always girl cooties......eww girls. lol I do tell the GF not to hug me before i leave for deer hunting so I dont get girl stink on me ..... im so romantic!
-
maybe they are filming the new "alone" out there! thank god it wasnt "naked and afraid"!
-
understood it just fine. I meant that the "boy" scouts as in male..... not as in title . yeah i figured out its no longer called the boy scouts. Im gonna guess cause there are girls there now?? lol
-
no problem with it. They are just getting with the times. There are more and more women interested in outdoor sports. Women hunters and archers are the quickest increasing group. I think its a good idea. Whats the harm. It doesnt mean the boy scouts will have less of an experience cause girls can learn how to put up a tent and make a hitch knot. Life will go on with girls being real scouts its ok. And I am probably the only one alive that thinks the girl scout cookies suck! lol . Dry cookies blah! lol

beginner's tackle box/starter kit for panfish?
Robhuntandfish replied to goosifer's topic in Fishing
i would go for the walmart one- the tackle box is way better. But think your probably better off piecemeal. At the walmart in - store they have some nice little tackle bags for a decent price as well and they are very handy for other gear you might take along. Would include a pair of needle nose pliers as they are always helpful or throw in a leatherman tool. But if your just gonna shore fish bait this will work for panfish , bullheads etc. The stuff that comes with it is ok, but i would just pickup a cheap little tackle bag/box. Throw in pliers, a little round case of assorted sinkers, some snelled hooks in size 6, 4, a pack of snap swivels and a pack of assorted bobbers. Should be able to get out of that for under $25. Then of course any lures that look shiny ! lol good luck. Not a big fan of loose hooks unless i am worm fishing for trout. If casting off shore put a bell sinker on the bottom and then tie the snell hook about a foot above it. -
you guys have given me something to try ..... the fly down cackle???? had to google that and listen to it . I think opening day i must have sounded like Roseanne singing the national anthem cause he hit the ground and it was radio silence. My calls didnt even really get a response. I did just a few clucks when he was gobbling on the roost just to let him know i was there as it started getting light out. Then called after 6am to hear crickets. Cant get any closer without getting busted for sure. Gonna try a different angle on them this weekend. I have had the best luck in the past with the loudest calling. And as others have said pissing off the hen and she comes out followed by the gobbler. Or just one lone gobbler coming to the call. Have had a few times a group of hens/toms just walk by and ignore my decoys at 80 yards. I can never seem to figure what the trigger is to bring them over. Guess like TF said 2 out of 31 days it might happen.

might want to survey the area ....... there might be some extra indigenous plants now growing on your property.

Booze Of Choice These Days............
Robhuntandfish replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
The GF comes up with a different summer drink every year. Right now the leader is Jim beam apple and lemonade or a lighter version of long island. I usually stick with beer. Sometimes vodka and lemonade in the summer. I like a Jim and Ginger in the winter. -
Must've dropped his chicken salad in the leaves.

Turkeys. Plus I dont have the drive that i do for a deer. Fishing gets part of my May as well . But October and Nov are all deer all the time. I will put in at least 5-7 turkey hunts or at least hope to . I put in easily 4 times that for deer.
-
looks like some nice trees in there for a ladder stand for bow hunting!..... always looking ahead. Is this a spot you can deer hunt too?
-
sounds like the new ground is worthwhile! cmon , couldnt slip those tight TSS loads in there..... Lol . Go get em . Hope you get another chance. I wont be back out til Sunday and Monday so relying on you to flop one.
-
i shot one once with a broadhead , during the fall turkey season. Had feathers all over the arrow and a little meat in the broadhead. Never found the turkey . Not easy tracking a turkey blood trail. And messed up my deer hunt for the rest of the day and nothing to show for it.

Got to spot at 4:55 and already gobbling. Gobbled about 100 times in the roost til 6 am then dead silent. Had a raccoon come to about 6 feet from me and peak behind a tree. And saw 8 deer, and 5 of them circled me for 30 minutes. Amazing no scent control and they were within 15 yards. Off to check deer stands. Heard two shots this morn around me. Congrats to everyone that tagged Today!!!

Gobble Gobble....then.....Dilly Dilly .

These are the views from my spot for the morn. Went and found a spot to setup. Was in there about 4 and heard a gobble a couple hunded yards away. Hope he's ready to play at first light.

Let see those turkey guns
Robhuntandfish replied to silent death's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
12 gauge Mossberg 535 with turkey choke. I use 3" federals #5's. -
There were 2 school delays here this morning. Crazy. Gonna dress warm in the morning but looks like there should be some gobbling. In the afternoon gonna go check all the deer stands and see how they fared thru the winter. Looks too be too windy to fish the lake.
-
Been flirting with these pretties but can't pull the trigger on buying for a bit. But they are in my thoughts..... lol. Marlin 45-70 and Ruger predator in .308. Also the thunder ranch Mossberg 308.

I am in that same boat of righty and left eye dominant. But I am just used to shooting that way. My rifles all have scopes and I just have adapted for bow and close my left eye before I shoot. I do struggle the most with pistols. That's why I have a Judge and shoot buckshot. Lol

Who’s putting a bird to bed Monday night ?
Robhuntandfish replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Turkey Hunting
Where I'm going they have always roosted in the same spot. So hoping they do again. Am gonna go out Monday afternoon and put up my chair so that I can find my spot easy in the dark and just have to throw out a decoy and get settled in the dark. And wait for the gobbles. I bet they are gonna be active in the nice weather. -
attorney for speeding ticket in Clarence?
Robhuntandfish replied to goosifer's topic in General Chit Chat
Like others said send in not guilty as long as it's close by and go to court date. Take the def driving class online for $50 (also get 10℅off ins for 3 years) and take that to court date. And ypur pretty much guaranteed to have it reduced. Some townships you can call and speak to DA others want nothing to do with that and will tell you to just come in for the court date and they meet with you then. If you have DDC certificate with you, done deal. Out for about $100. Esp with a ticket at less than 10 mph over limit. -
I got mine at oneida Wal-Mart. They were going fast
