Last night just before dark! Had to kick more deer out of field to track her. Knew she didn't go far though. Blood spraying everywhere. Love the grim reapers! Got her at a new spot in Madison and first time there. All processed and sausage to package tomorrow. After hunting . Now I can look for that buck since I got the freezer queen.

with that rack he ought to be put in the daylight and cool just from the shade from those antlers! Hope he gets stupid for you in pre rut/rut time.

you sound exactly like me........ I have 120 acres I share with a guy ( a couple other places too but mainly there) and have never really gotten a monster buck but once in awhile a nice one on cam. Almost every year end up with a 5 pointer and very happy for that! I have passed on spikes and buttons but usually it seems to be a 4,5,6 point. And then hope to add a doe or two in the mix.

to me it smells like vanilla. Didnt like it for hunting so I sprayed it in my shoes. lol

def take the antibiotics. Ive had Lyme and it sucks. But got better quickly after the antibiotics. Never found a tick on me, and my dr told me the 24 -36 hours is BS. Said if they get to your blood you could be infected. I had a bullseye rash behind my knee, terrible headaches and fever for a weekend, luckily i caught it early. A friend of mine also got it and never found a tick. Dr kept checking him for other things and he finally insisted on a test for Lyme which was positive. He got so bad with aches and had bells palsey from it for a few days. havent seen as many this year as last year, but i sure check all the time. Dr also said couldve gotten bit from the dog going outside, mowing , taking a walk.......etc. couldve had one bite anytime.

the Amish put together spices during hunting season in packets just for 10 lbs of venison/pork mix. It comes out great. I just add a half a beer or some jalepenos or something extra I want.

maybe this was natures way of saying -- you need to be thinned from the herd, for this guy! Fish kisser! lol

i have on my to do list for the weekend.......start up snowblower. Once that happens the mowing is done!

I agree, make your own. Sausage is really easy to make. I have a grinder/sausage stuffer that does on a kitchen aid, I buy the casings from Price chopper. Local Amish store sells spices for sausage making. Made these venison Jalepeno brats last year- took me maybe an hour. Also made my own summer sausage, ordered the casings online and some quick cure. have made hot italian, polish, onion and pepper, breakfast sage, breakfast maple, -- this year will make breakfast sausage and cracked pepper beer brats. I really enjoy making it and trying some new recipes.

was hunting in lewis county years ago and a guy came out with a 4 point on his trunk and a bear on his hood!! he was cleaning the deer and a bear came walking thru. It was a little car like a camry and was on a sand dirt road and that car mustve been bottomed out. Had to stop to talk to him for sure, he had one hell of a day. Offered to help him and take one to his house but he said he was only like 10 minutes away and thought he would be ok.

sat here last night. Had a huge doe come out about 60 yards down this lane and then the landowner came out and was moving some horse trailers around and she dint like it and went back into woods. Cant be mad its his land but I was tasting the backstraps , she was gonna walk right to me!

i think owning/leasing property gets people more invested and therefore they spend more time out there. Prob especially for a second deer. When i had only public land , if I got a deer for the freezer it was some work too but I was usually done after that. Now that I have a few options for hunting , my plan is to get a freezer queen and then hunt for a buck and hopefully one of size.

yes , but my point was we get two buck tags most states dont. And we have oppurtunity to hunt with multiple weapons and seasons. We have it good. Right now i have 5 tags I can fill with options for bow, crossbow, gun and muzzleoader. A lot of states have real restrictive gun seasons, very short. Everyone has the chance to use the weapon or type of hunt of their choice for the most part. I think its great how its set up.

i get a chuckle out of all the discussion/arguements over this. Mostly because I think the seasons in NY are perfect. How do you beat a month and a half of bow, and two weeks of crossbow - with a seperate tag for a buck and a doe, then 3 weeks of gun season with another buck tag and if you didnt get your fill, another round for the late muzzleloader. And we complain.........it aint so bad! lol

use a lot of cams and deer often look at them, smell them etc. Have pics of deer rubbing tree that the cam was on. Have deer noses right in camera. Its different and in their living room they will check it out. Sometimes the little red dot even seems to spook them. Best luck I have had is to angle them down a little. seems to help them to notice less.

registered to vote - check. Gave up on both parties - check! republicans in NY havent done anything or stood against anything that Cuomo wants for the most part......and dems ...well Schumer......nuff said. Republicans run out Trump as their party leader.........Dems ...Hillary .......also nuff said!!! Check out Convention of States, thats what I am pushing for. Done with the rest!

Changing at work in 10 minutes and headed out for a sit in a close stand for an east wind til dark. this is my view from that stand! Hope it has a deer in it tonite!

i love the 180 PSP's in my 30-06! great expansion! Its a deer dropper! I hunt some real thick stuff and these just put em down!
