That's cool to watch a bird swim. I seen my first bald eagle over on the Iroquois eating road kill last week. The bird was huge. I'd say stood 3 feet.

Buck mania, catch it in a field near you, LOL.

My grandfather use to be the under the table brew master for Becks Brewery in Buffalo years ago. He wrote all his brew receipts down in a language, all of his own. I remember him saying what made the best beer was a 4 row barley out of Canada along with a special type of hops, secret to it's location, all it's own. I only wish I was of age to try some of his brews in those days, now that I'm of age to really appreciate what use to be called real beer. I also wish I had inherited his ability to make a fine beer!

I'll shoot a doe and put another 30- 40 lbs. in the freezer. She's getting pretty bare right now. DMP. fill rate here is under 9%. I'll see if I can raise that figure a tad.

We'll, my luck ran out. Hit a nest of them with the tractor stack by the front woods this morning. Suddenly what felt like a hot nail driven through my left ear. More nailed me in the back that felt like hot spikes driven in. Once in the neck. My God, that smarts. I luckly don't have a reaction to them. Sure wish I would have taken the cab one. Be carefull out there people.

landtracdeerhunter replied to First-light's topic in General Chit Chat
Anyone eat in any fast food joints lately? Fox might not be so bad, LOL. -
Moms and the babies sure are in good shape. Bucks look real good too. Maybe 75 lbs. of meat good, LOL. Shows how were adapted the deer herd really is in New York. Tough old winter didn't even throw them a curve.

No turnips for me, just radish about August 5th. My seed should be here by Friday. May have some extra, if anyone interested. Have to plant the old fashion way. Lost my connection for no- till this year.

The cold weather extended blossom bloom till later here. Should be a terrific draw in our area.

I seen, what I believed to be a nice 6x5 with a wide spread on 990 over by the French Rd exit, front of a woods last Sunday coming home from Ohio. I spun off the exit heading east, turned around and he was gone! Also had a beauty cross in front of the head lights by Millard Filmore. Suburban Hospital. Amherst sure raises some nice ones. Got more of my share of views out in the bean fields in Ohio last week.

Blueberries, along with strawberries are among my top eating fruit. I planted a few bushes in the only loamy, acid soil I had up on the knoll. Fenced the area with some double 4 foot fence too. The deer jumped the fence and decided I didn'.t need those blueberries. I then added tin pie plates thinking the banging and reflexion would deter their actions. Nope, didn't work. I now enjoy the pickings from a local grower, LOL. They won't touch the raspberries or the blackberries there, just the blues. MY $21 a bush Kiwi are gone also.

first animal ever taken with a bow
landtracdeerhunter replied to Blackbayoutfitters's topic in Bow Hunting
Holy smokes, what a nice bear. I know of someone else that said their's a waiting list at Black Bay. Nice wait though, for something like this. Congrats! -
In the Tonawands. Had a great first time there. Nice amusements for the grand kids. Got to go down the slide with my grandchild. Wow , hemroid flareup for sure, LOL. All types of foods to sample. A ton of boats on the Erie. Wall to wall people. I got to see my first water main break, as we were only a few yards away when it blew up through the street on the Tonawanda side. Coming back on Sweeney st. we were greeted by several deer grazing in the front yards of houses. Some nearly an arms reach away from the car. A lot of deer on the North Tonawanda side. All in all, some great fun.

Rebuild after 20 years. and this seasons prep..
landtracdeerhunter replied to G-Man's topic in Deer Hunting
I moved and reworked one last year. Added sides and might add a canopy this summer. I need another go to stand during the inclement weather. Witnessed some great breeding activity in its new location last season during a rain event. People on here commented that it looked unsafe. Been hunting out of it for 13 years. Made it out of treated lumber. Except for its weathered wood color, it's about as good as the day it was constructed. No nails in the trees too. Also have another wood stand that's been in use for 14 seasons. It's treated where it needs to be for safety. Still very strong and yes, no nails in the tree on it. That reminds me, wonder how grows cardboard stands are holding up? -

landtracdeerhunter replied to wooly's topic in Member Hunting Journals
How about a 2014 summer long shot session? -
Well, just the most important part, the egg salad sammies, and something to wash them down with, LOL.
-
Nice color in those beans. I'm quite surprised to see buck pics on your prop.. Other years, you had a lot of doe- fawns. We had all doe and fawns other years. Something has changed, to where we're seeing more bucks this year here.

Why Do I Need a License to take my grand kids hunting
landtracdeerhunter replied to Youngre911's topic in General Hunting
I think that is a wonderful idea. Maybe have a $5 fee to make it legal. Now, officially, as the state defines hunting, the mentor is hunting, even though they don't support a weapon,as in this case so a license is in order.
