  1. Yeah me either. I cannot recall more than a few times in the last 30 years. You know, when I became an "adult", where I was in a situation that was anywhere near a serious confrontation . Lucky .. maybe;)
  2. Sort of an honest thief.. a few years back a friend and I stumbled into a large patch in an old beaver meadow. Probably 1/2 an acre. I'm pretty sure they were harvesting ,because some plants had been chopped down and a lot of of "people sign". I just said quite loudly as we passed through, "I don't care, just passing through" ...
  3. It is interesting how different bullets out of the same gun, or different distances changes how it affects the deer. Or the difference between a gun and and an arrow. We did the experiment once of shooting a milk jug full of sand. .308 bullet just kind of thumped into it and you could pour it out. An arrow equipped with a muzzy broadhead blasted right through... I am a big advocate of a lighter bullet for a given cartridge being more effective at "knocking " down game. For example. I don't believe I've shot a single deer with my 300 win mag with 150(except for 1 . I gut shot and it died within sight) grain bullets that took a step afterwards. I have a friend that swears by 180 grain or larger bullets in the same gun. His all run. Not very far but they rum, and occasionally have to track. I always pick on him. He'll say "I want a pass through and good blood trail " Me I just like to walk over to where I shot it ..lol
  4. Ha.ha. If I had a camera on my porch it would show my stupid dog doing the same thing ..lol. We will get a notification that a package has been delivered and have to go for an "Easter egg" hunt around the yard.
  5. ATTENTION! This is proper place for this discussion. Notice, that it's under politics .
  6. Oh yeah. Somewhere in there I need to do a basement and dry in a house on top of it..ha.ha
  7. Well. I'm going to start out with my TC Encore muzzleloader hunting elk in Colorado. Shooting 297gr thor bullets with fffg powder. Then I'm going to break out my 75# Obsession m6 with 125 gr Rage broad heads. Couple weeks later I will break out the mzl again for a week. Then switch barrels on my TC to .300 win mag. Hunt for a few weeks Head to Letchworth using my bow and occasionally my Barnett whitetail for 1 1/2 weeks. Switching back to the muzzloader for the southern firearms opener and a few days. Returning home and breaking out the 300 again. Untill.... Late muzzloader season.. Wow! Breaking it all down , it sounds pretty complicated...lol
  8. Nice! I think everyone should butcher their first few deer. It's part of the whole process..
  9. I was lucky and had a good friend/ mentor show me the ropes . How to hunt, process ,and cook them too..lol. you probably have twice the # under your belt.. the last bunch of years I've been feeling rich and paying someone else, often my old friend/ mentor ,who is retired, to cut up my deer..
  10. Because this is a win win for a Democrat. Sanction Russia and hinder the 2nd amendment by "accident".
  11. Lol.. Yes they do. My favorite pastime.. sitting in a treestand scraping them off with the blade of my knife.. I have a shirt or 2 that I threw away after getting into the "sticktights" 2 pronged ones.. I wadded them up into a ball and it just together.
  12. Looks like a blast, right up to the point where it opens up and you look off the side of the mountain..F that..lol.
  13. Well that's debatable..JK..;) Dam! Glad you are ok.. scary stuff.
  14. Pine actually has a decent timber value depending on how tall and straight they are. Loggers are paying $100-150 a thousand. Less than the more valuable hardwoods but often has twice the footage for an equal size tree at breast height. Either way it sounds like they should be removed. No nutritional value and nothing grows under a mature pine..
  15. It is a lot of fun and will really surprise you how far off you can be even when the target is moving slowly. We took an old push mower, removed the motor and mounted a foam deer target on it. (Really nice to move around the yard, practicing different shot angles and distances. We also would hook a long rope to it and take turns hiding around the corner of a building and pulling it across the yard..
  16. Sadly. You cannot buy will. After listening to interviews over the last few days of some women from the region (the ones that most likely ill suffer the most under taliban rule), I just shake my head. How can u be a man with a mother and or sisters, cousins and friends and walk away from your post ? A different mentality I guess. I cannot wrap my mind around it anymore than I can some of our own far lefts..
  17. I pay $350 for shoulder mount on a plaque to a good friend that does a fantastic job as a hobby.. WNY,...Lots of good input. I will mirror what many have said, having been self employed most of the 30 some years of my working life . To be really successful the business end is just as important , I would say maybe more important , than the work. Quality work with good customer service,accounting,etc... You will be in the $$. It is not that often that they go together..
  18. Some nice deer there. That one ,I think , is saying uhhh duh? Mooo?
  19. My legs cannot take the vertical anymore. I'm more of a Mad River Glenn type guy now than Zermatt .;)
  20. I've been all over the states. And Much of canada including skiing Montana,Colorado, and British Columbia. Much more to see before I have to start flying . lol.
  21. I'm with you guys. Over 50 and havnt flown yet. I always say its because they won't let me drive. Ha.ha. I'm that guy that always drives if I'm in a vehicle.. It is funny how the virus affects people differently. It went through my gfs extended family. Cousins ,aunts uncles ,grandmother. As a whole, they where the stereotypical fat American family. Not a one of them over 16 that doesn't weight at least 250#s.. Nobody was hospitalized. Including her 78 year old grandmother who is asthmatic and borderline diabetic.
  22. Thanks again for this .. I had a free day so drove down and picked up the gun this am:
