Where To Start In The Hunt For A Covid Shot?
ncountry replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
A local university has been hosting a vaccination center . We are so scarcely populated that there are lots of openings. There was just an article about medical tourism locally. People are traveling from all over the state . -
Hey! That's my spot!

6c. No Cabin. An older barn. I started a thread a few days back.

Lol.. True.. I was just throwing out a cheap plug for my $89,000 106 acres..lol
-
A person just needs to drive another 3 hrs north to find cheap land.;)

Hey guys. Putting this out there for anybody in the market for property in the north country. Dekalb,NY. 1/2hr from Canada 106 acres ,95% wooded, for sale. $89,000 There is maybe 5- 10 acres of wetland. My guess is that it was last selectively logged 30 years ago. Roughly 1800' of rd frontage on a maintained dirt rd. There is an old barn on site. Roughly 24x50 maybe(I've never measured). Previous owners used one end as a camp. It's kinda rough. Currently there are no utilities on property. The last power pole is maybe 100-200' from property. Nice hunting property, Sugarbush (75% maples) or homesite. It's a mile from a state highway and a school .excellent cell signal too.lol. For those that don't want to be out of touch..

Most uncomfortable sleep in a truck I had was a few years back. 25 maybe 1983( I think) Toyota extended cab. 2 of us slept for 6 ish hours. We woke up around 5 am:. We hiked to the top of Tuckerman's ravine off Mt Washington in NH.(just so we could say we skied Tuckerman's in June) Skied 3 times down and hiked back out. I am pretty sure I couldn't even make it to the top in one day now..;) We drove home to northern NY that night so we wouldn't have to crash in the truck again. Lol..

Great pics!

Yea.. only 1.5 hrs to Ottawa.

I have 105 wooded acres we are looking to sell for $850/acre. A long commute to Rochester from St Lawrence county though.

Watching Biden makes me want to barf

I'm curious if you are correct. In my discussions with liberal or nuetral friends, they rarely could list many actual actions of Trump that they hated.. They just hated the person and couldn't get past it.. I actually had to plug my nose and vote for him..I cannot stand the person. I think if Twitter would have banned him earlier we probably would have easily won the election .lol . In his case actions didn't necessarily speak louder than his words.. -
I probably missed it but why the ice house? With all this talk of maple syrup , I'm ready... I will be getting close to a hundred buckets hung in my woods this year..
-
One reason I love my cell cams.. I put them out I haven't moved one of them in 6 months..
-
I just started using 2 cameras this year.. They have saved me a lot of unproductive hunting . The area I hunt has a fairly low deer population.. I did a mock scrape with one and saw quite a # of different bucks. Nothing that was consistent to actually set-up on . Enough to show me it was a waste of time to hunt that spot during daylight. Another couple spots I would have spent at least a couple sits due to the good deer sign. Not a single deer visited these spots during the daylight.. My best set-up had the least amount of deer sign but the most daylight pictures by far.. This piece of public land was new to me and I feel that I shortened my learning curve by a few years with the cameras. With a limited amount of hunting time I need more cameras..

One like this would maybe work?
-
I will have to admit I've caught more musky fishing the smaller local rivers while targeting walleye.
-
I've heard that before.. I need to fish different areas. I've caught dozens of musky and maybe 4 tiger musky..lol

Nomads response from a few years ago "Ok lawyer called back yes you have to be able to access your land in NYS via easement by necessity . But he would not pay one dollar for such land.... Now I got lost in all the legal talk , but he would want to see evidentiary proof of an existing easement. If you had to establish one plan on spending a ton of cash. Name all adjoining land owners sue them for the easement , you show best route based upon distance , topography and so forth . He went on for several more minutes but youget the point."

Walking stick is a must..imho. Depending on the bottom it can be very slippery.. I have used this method a few times.. If I had been hunting does , I would have been successful everytime.. the spot I used is relatively slow moving with a small stone or smooth shale bottom.. the bank is over my head, so I would still hunt along and poke up and over the edge periodically... One of these days I will sneak up on mr. Big.

Right ! Although, I am striving to stop picking on deer smaller than me.. Throwing in the towel and going on a diet. My goal of shooting a 270# deer is just unrealistic.... I guess .lol

Saranac lake winter carnival starts today ,I think. . Not sure what they will have going on this year. The ice castle is pretty cool..

Some of my favorite spots are pastures.. I have stalked a few deer under cover of cows..lol.. One of the places I hunted had around 100 beefers running around. They didn't have much human contact and were pretty wild.. They bust you as quick as a deer. Once they started staring at you, you might as well move on..

Ha.ha. Heat upstairs? That IS luxurious. Dont tell my wife that most others have this luxury...lol

Yea, your kids are right..;)
