  1. For those of you that don't understand the "arbartrary" requirments.. it all has to do with keeping crossbow and 70 lb compound on equivalent level.. I'm all for this.especially if they are to be full inclusion in archery season.. it restricts range and keeps the field as level as possible. As far as tec.. you could make a 500lb Windlass with 1 13 lb projectile bolt and kill a deer at 300 yards otherwise.. ( some idiot would try it..) http://www.bowhuntingmag.com/bow-reviews/crossbows-vs-compounds-comparing-apples-to-apples/
  2. Looks good but I would increase size of sanctuary and connect it to other. Biggest factor in holding deer..way more than food plots. And a,strict don't go in it.policy. between this 35 and back 45 you mentioned i would have 20 acres sanctuary and make it thick.. too small and your scent drifting across it alone would drive deer out as well as walking around It. Your food plot Will be key to draw game out of it during legal hours and it should be set so your stand takes advantage of wind and entrance..perhaps you need to pile brush down wind side of plot so deer must enter from sides to have proper stand placement as well as entrance exit path. Thermal cover!!! Your pines are to big..and brush will over take quickly. Plant small spruce in clumps in your hopefully bedding areas.. ost foresters will not recommend this as their focus will be on timber trees.. the beach brush your eliminating provided it as the leaves are retained for quite some time. You must have this to hold deer late season ... regardless of food.
  3. 200lbs is not arbitrary it make,it equivalent to a 75 lb bow. 17 in is as arbitrary as a15 in barrel on pistol. It exist so someone doesn't make a windlass.. more power is not better.. most manufacturers do meat 17in tip to tip not axle to axle... you can buy a premium bow with all the requirements..
  4. Bow privilege. Keep the restristtions..there are many bows that fit..and what is the advantage to more draw weight.. 99% couldn't cock more than that by hand anyway.
  5. Why 200lbs is more than enough..lots of recurve crossbows for sale that are,200 lbs..
  6. Fits buffalo attitude in general...
  7. I agree with biz... not impressed with jags. If shady out perhaps tyrod can find a few receivers . Perhaps that was a plan all aloneg throw to rb and te all season save deep passes for the playoffs... lol Glad they are in it..but Pitt and Ne will stop them in divisional rd.
  8. The same as people.that need the best camo or scent elimination clothing.. or equipment. If someone has problems making decent calls or just wants ease of not having to carry more crap with them.. it's a great alternative.. it's a rattle bag .bleat.grunt. roar, exectera. ALL IN ONE! Less to.carry = more enjoyment for some.
  9. I have several of his books, signed and attended many of his lectures years ago. My Sympathy for his, family
  10. My worse was missing a nice 3 year old 8pt deflecting off a limb.. my best was killing an 11pt that had me dead to rights at least4 times but I waited it out and got the shot at 8 yards. Was a good year freezer is full everyone at camp was sucessful
  11. I killed my 11pt this year when it came to whitetail deer calls app. Mild doe bleat.. 30 sec long call. As for the quality.. deer seem to be the judge of that..it works called in several small bucks with it as well. Like camo appeals to the hunter (deer see it completely different) so do sounds of deer tube type calls.. imo actual recordings cannot be out done.
  12. I believe it was changed 2017 I'm not.sure I know it was illegal for years but good hi quality recordings and adjustable volume as well as ability to place the call somewhere is the only.way to go ..why carry a tube when everyone has their phone in hand following live from the woods anyway..
  13. They only thing to think of is replacement strings and parts.. small company's seem to disappear or get.bought.up amd.models changed. Only reason I'd would stick to a similar bow by a larger company
  14. All depends on genre.. many many good films I own over 1000
  15. I would disagree hunter density and property size is vastly different in the mid west.. I'd put a consistent public land eastern hunter as most skilled. Shots maybe further than east usually take but it takes far more skill to get.close to game than pop them at 200 plus yards.. that's target practice
  16. Well any Clive Cussler book for light fun reading though my favorite is his Atlantis found!
  17. It was made legal.. just illegal.for turkey and geese.. as per question on Dec site Is it legal to use decoys and electronic calls to hunt deer? A: Both decoys and electronic calls are legal to use for deer hunting in NY. You should exercise caution when transporting a deer decoy to and from the locations in the field. Some hunters wrap a strip of blaze orange material around the decoy when carrying it. Can I use an electronic call for coyote and other furbearer hunting? A: Yes. You may NOT use an electronic call for turkey, ducks or geese. get a blue tooth speaker and put it inside a decoy and control volume and calls.from.your phone..
  18. So true..I go set some tip ups on my pond but then I go back inside or sit in Hot tub on deck..
  19. Just down load an app or whitetail.calls on your phone
  20. Well it was -22 this am and the drive revealed people out on the ice at case and Cuba lake.. guess hard water season has begun.. crazy basterds.....
  21. I named the koi in my pond after deceased friends.. they can live for hundred years....
  22. I recently found out mountain dew was originally.made for a whiskey mixer.. tried it its.pretty Good! Though for most party occasions a good whiskey sour is drink of choice
  23. A reverse limb design works best as weight is centered. I have a Matthews mbx with a Leopold crossbow scope on it. I love. That is your price range. But I've held some reverse limbs and would prefer that balance.. so my suggestion is try some and see what makes you comfortable.. some x bow are so heavy in front they would only feel.comfortable on the ground in a blind off a rest.
