  1. Yep, my friend is a edge supervisor there, very excited about the addition!
  2. corn up about 2in, last evenings rain will help.
  3. Nice! Have. I've seen in person and one on trail.cam. Lots of bear tracks around.three Different ones from what I can tell...hope the fawns are hiding well...
  4. only problem with corn is having a big enough field to last till when you want it.. you generally lose 5-8 rows to squirrels and coon... hope it works well for you. i started with an acre and the deer had it wiped out by nov 1st.. i now do 10 acres and most time it lasts to spring(march)
  5. i have some cameras out year round, others go up for scouting purposes in july august. apples and nuts look to be way down this year from last and plots should be prime in fall.. only nut tree left to flower are my chestnuts (july) black cherries look good for early fall turkey, stand prep is underway (replacing cables, straps, bolts and painting.) will start hanging them in july take me about 3 months to get them all up. some logging is underway and should be completed by august. there is always some kind of prep going on year round, tsi, clearing plot loctions, fixing equipment, scouting/shed hunting, and getting tally from neighbors on last years take and this years fawn crop/ turkey nesting sucess.
  6. 3 acre corn field... 1 acre field 1/2 sweet corn/ turnips

    weather

Just had the first sprinkle in 10 days... scattered storms.. if this keeps this pattern and warm it looks to be a good hatch year!
  8. i've had several cams adjusted by bear over the last few years...and yes they are becoming a problem. the new management plan still does nothing to adress this... 15 years ago if you saw a bear a year it was news worthy. last 7 years i get several bear on cam spring and summer and fall, and have had a hot tub damaged, 3-d targets eaten, barn broke into and garbage scattered, and traps with in them game taken and never found again... doesnt make the trapper happy.... as they continue to expand the subburbs will have a lot more problems
  9. I believe it is a.four Year old 8 pt saw last year several times just out of range...
  10. Its an old log landing I planted alfalfa and turnip in. Having some maple and firewood removed or all the roadway would be alfalfa and clover. It sits at top of ravine and intersects a swamp... best natural funnel going on my place. Homemade box blind 5x8 seats 2 comfortably... friends and wives , and either their sons or daughter. Like to sit there. Hopefully I can get my nephew tset there this season as he'll turn 14 this .september
  11. I started with.an Acre of corn..it lasted.2 Weeks... 9 acres can last 3-5 months which is what i want it for winter food source. Of course that's taking 18- 21 deer off the property a year 10 have to be adult doe... or it wouldn't be enough.
  12. It will never make it that tall deer pull it when its 6-12in tall... damn fuzzy rats with long legs eat everything...
  13. I would guess 200 lbs max on bear..yes its a good video of knocking cam around, but its long andI am not the most computer savvy guy.
  14. Couple of pics from last week of may.. and a decent buck after bear tipped camera
  15. After last years bumber crop of hard mast, and knowing the cyclical nature of nut trees. I decided to go with more winter nutrition, 3 fields of corn..3acres,6 acres, and 1 acre. 1 acre of purple top turnips, 1 acres of imperial whitetail clover, 1/2 acre of howden pumpkins(some for halloween:) ) ,1/2 cow peas, and 1 acre of shorgum/cowpeas/sunflower mix. took 3 long days but all in the ground and i'm ready to sit back and watch them grow

    Food plot

not not to late, 60$ to 80$ an hour. depending on size of his/her equipment.(not including lime, fert, seed costs).. 2- 6 hours.. i would stay simple and do a clover, sugarbeet, turnip mix... (i didnt say brassica as that also includes kale, radish, rape, ect)... i have had very good luck with turnips/red clover mix...the clover will boost nitrogen levels and =an be plowed under in the spring but also provides some spring green up.. if your looking in to july before planting, buck wheat and turnips/sugar beets for sure... Next spring i would look into whitetail institutes , imperial clover. best attractant, by far. but seems to do better in a spring planting than trying to establish in fall . in my own experiance...an acre isnt a big area and imperial/clover will attract year round and take the grazing pressure. 4-5 deer can clean out an acre of turnips in about 2 weeks eating all night. i have a fairly high deer population and use some smaller 1/2 acre plots for hunting, but i do nutritional plots from 3-10 acres . the deer will wipe out 6-9 acres of corn in a few months...
  17. It depends on what program you qualify for. I am having two ponds put in. one Acre each at for ducks (4 ft deep max) no cost.but I placed the land in permanant conservation easement. The land and actress to it is still mine, but cannot cut (trees) anything or mow trail, ect.
  18. You have to get a management plan approved and see what you can qualify for. Thru your county soil and water conservation district. Its a long application process.
  19. looks like A SCRATCHING post... cat or fisher...
  20. The bear was 408 lbs. It was taken about 100 yards behind my house. So yes it was in my area. lol.... story is in bear hunting section(i got a bear)
  21. i had to do it 3x with my nephew to report his bird.my bird i got done 1st time but i learned just to use manual spelling than speeking, i know the post office is a rip off but a report card drop in the mail was so much better imo.
  22. get em use to the flash so they dont run from the trail cam pics...
  23. thats awful... hang it anyway...
