Rage 3 Blade - Are they legal in NY or not?

from running or getting the arrow hung up on brush/trees/etc. it gets pulled out.  not saying a deer wouldn't bite and pull or even kick it out.  seems less likely though.  I've cut out muzzy heads from a deer's neck that have been there from prior seasons when processing my own.  sometimes barded or not doesn't make a difference.  I don't think it's a dumb rule though as the logic is there.

I'll stay legal and stick with my 2 blade Rage . They pass right through deer . Never saw the need to even try the 3 blade . What's the advantage ?

I used to shoot Tekan 2's and loved those blades . They are also considered BARBED so I went with the Rage 2's .

i'd rather improve my risk of a good clean kill with a 3 blade, then to only have a single cutting plane as apposed to 2 and possibly miss the artery that would seal his fate.

I've never really thought I needed the 3rd blade and I've been using various Rage heads continuously since they've come out.  I'm not concerned about arteries so much as poking a sizable hole in both lungs and popping them like a balloon.  other case is I hit one but hit the heart too.  the 2 blades leave a typical 3" long open gash for entry and exit when broadsided path happens.  a heart won't work with that damage.  say it's not a good clean kill and you hit it not at the right angle or whatever.  I'd rather have the more penetration for maximum damage from the 2 blades versus less with the 3 blades.  I've seen a noticeable penetration difference with the newer cut on contact front blade design of the titanium heads or the SS versus the more triangular original design.  last deer I took she spun toward me already slightly quartering too and the shot went wrong.  the titanium (2-blade) entered to the rear of the front shoulder, all the way through the deer, and out the rear of the opposite hind quarter.  she went less than 40 yards all completely downhill.  I wouldn't expect that kind of results and penetration with the 3 blade, despite it's got one more blade cutting it's way through doing damage but slowing it down.  a small reason added to that to prevent me from switching is the barbed head deal that may change depending on which ECO I talk to.  I'm sure it's been said on here that heads you choose are a personal choice that you should be comfortable with and they all have killed game.

And I agree, but it bothers me I can't decide. Should my arrow fly off course, it's a personal opinion of mine that making an x with razor blades provides more opportunity to slice something vital. I've nicked a few hearts in my day and wonder sometimes if that 2 blade was 180* if i'd have still recovered the deer.

I have hit the heart a few times but the lungs are bigger . A deer can run too far if it can't breathe ! Two blades do the trick !

Iteresting at gander I've seen 3 blade Rage, Bags of acorns, acorn powder, and primos battery operated doe in heat cans. All with signs they are illegal in NY. So why do they sell them in their NY stores?

So people can stock up here in NY and then go out-of-state to hunt.
