What do you store your gear in?

I was doing some research and I see people try different methods.. ziplock bags, totes, etc Which would you say is the best way to store your gear? I was going to try a tote and put some earth wafer scents in it.

I use a tote not sure why but my "scent proof" bag never really worked well and it was super loud when having to open it before going in the woods!

And as far as any scent I normally just put my camo in the leaves and let it sit over night. Works pretty good.

I keep mine in a plastic tote. I used to just use a plastic garbage bag but it wasn't very organized. The tote seems to work better.

After the season I put all my hunt clothes in a plastic box and put several pine branches (8-14") on each layer of clothes. About a month before deer season I add pieces of apple on top of my outer clothes and hat. Do not put apple pieces for a long time on the clothes and please put the box in the coldest place you can. During the deer season I refresh the apples frequently (I still keep my gear in my plastic box when not in use, or sometimes I use a plastic bag). I have a friend that every morning of the deer hunt he "smashed" an apple on his hunting jacket, pants and boots. I've done it too, when I remember to bring some apples - only good things to report with this little technique. Oh, I put my hunting boots in a separate plastic bag with pine branches and store. (Little Test: I know this works because my hunting dog had a tough time to trail my dragged hunting jacket if it had been stored with pine branches. Without the smell of pine branch it was easy for the dog to track the human smell on the jacket.) To each his own.

I bought one of those Plano boxes made for gear. Also use ziploc bags.

I place my hunting gear in a tote a few weeks before deer season with a shovel full of dirt from the woods. Cheaper than cover scents.

I use totes too. I find them to be very convenient to grab and go in the morning.I try and keep them organized long before I am going hunting.I keep mine in a breezeway with the lids off to minimize any household odors (cooking) from coming in contact with the clothing etc. but still allowing air flow.

I use plastic tool boxes made by Stanley. They have wheels on one end and are more sturdy than the average tote. I seal up any holes with duct tape and put gasket material around the rim of the lid. You can get them at Home Depot.

I have a Scent-Lok bag for my outer clothes. I put my inner clothes in a big tote.

I use construction grade garbage bags ( those real thick ones) toss in a couple earth scent wafers and throw it in the basement. Works like a charm.

Long term, my basement as well in a closet in my gun room. Hunting season ie. in use a tote . Plenty of room for extra and spare gear,the top makes a nice clean dry place to stand while changing into and out of my hunting boots,then I bungie ? the muddy boots to the top for the trip home .

I'm really going to miss my mini van,had one since '91. In hunting season took all the middle and rear seats out, plenty of room to change,sleep,put deer inside store gear and super easy for one guy to load deer into .

Alright sounds like I'm going to go with the tote and throw in a earth scent and seal off the rim with weather stripping.

I would always store everything in garbage bags and double bag everything.

This past season I had an extra tote laying around so I washed it out with sent killer soap and threw everything in. I opened it up yesterday to check if anything needed to be replaced before this season starts and it stunk. So I guess I am going to rewash everything and rewash the tote. Then I will try throwing some cedar branches and dirt in and hope they don't stink again in a few weeks.

I had plano totes from home depot. They seem to produce their own stank so i will not be using them any more.

I use a tote and put dirt and pine needles on the bottom then I have a piece of peg board sitting on top of a few 1x2's so my cloths are safe from the sap and dirt but allows the scent to rise through. Its easy to keep organized since I hunt in several different locations.

Rubbermaid totes. I do try and seal them up as good as I can. Sometimes I use bungee cords to wrap around the middle of the lid and keep it tight.

I use totes and place an Earth Scent wafer in them . I like the ones with the lock tabs , etc that keeps the lid from popping loose

I use the bungee cords too, I drive around with mine in the trailer and would hate to see my stuff blowing out of the back scattered down the highway!!

I use the totes with the locking handles also. I usually throw in the earth scented wafers but after reading the activated charcoal idea i may try that this year.
