LAKE EFFECT!

'Bout damned time.

Lake effect snow always amazes me. The way the band moves like an arm, slowly up then slowly down. Sometimes it stalls over a very narrow area and dumps a TON of snow.

We had one blast probably 13-14 years ago that stopped right over us and left 3.5-4.5 feet of snow in a very band. You could go north or south 2 miles each way and it was zip, nothing nada. Meanwhile people were stranded in their rigs and it was a bad scene.

It came on opening day of deer season and I thought my wife was joking when I called her that night after getting back to camp after a long day in the stand and nothing but memories to show for it!

We had a sporty ride back home the next day. As we got closer to home it was like riding the Rubicon Trail!!

Well here it is, FINALLY! It has slowed down now so I snapped a quick one.........

The band has traveled north to Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, Clarence, Pendelton etc. It'll probably be shifting back our way later this afternoon.

I know this little dumping pales in comparison to many of your locales but until I see a picture, I won't believe it. <Hint>

We were on the 190 between the Grand Island bridge and the 290, 90 split at 8 last night, sure was coming down. The 2-3" / hour kind. Roads conditions were horrible. Anyone have final snowfall totals from LE areas.

Snow at about 4" on ground at 2 degrees.

You know what I would like to see is some of the pictures from the east end of Lake Ontario. i have heard of some of those 4' snow dumps, and it would be interesting to see some of those late winter accumulations with house entrances included. I can't imagine how people get around in those kinds of snow depths. Anybody got a couple of pictures of that?
