This not a plan for re-election. This is a plan for DNC nomination for President.

The gun laws, the gas station requirements for generators, the "trying to appease hunters" with this program, and the ads...see the ads lately? Pushing to get the budget done on April 1 and touting no new taxes = more jobs. His supporting cast is doing a great and sly job at making a push for the DNC nomination.

I hate to say it, but it'd be better for America if the budget here in NY was late this year and every subsquent year he is in office. Otherwise, it's just more spin in his cap to tout for the national campaign.

I made the font bigger because it was tough to see.Sounds like some good things but I think he is just trying to win the hearts of the hunters in NY because he knows he has seriously F'ed up with the gun owners in this state so he is trying to get back in our good graces through our pockets.Screw him,he can go bury himself in a cave. Dont let him pull the wool over your eyes..This J.O. needs to look at the rest of the ridiculous spending this state does,I am sorry but I think this really doesn't warrant his time in light of other thing that he should be focussing on as our Governor.I realize that this could be a big savings to us but he is playing the old swictheroo on us,don't fall for it.

exactly. I've actually never minded paying the fees knowing they go towards conservation. If they went into the general fund that'd be different. Regardless, the less it costs the better I guess.

ACCESS!!! That's what people need

I like when people post stuff like this without offering a solution. Would you like it if he opened up private property to all hunters?

I havent seen a thing except some more land being bought up in the ADK. Who gives a rip, no one lives in the ADK. and the majority of hunters dont go there to hunt.

you're a little off on that. There's a lot of hunting up north, and even more recreation. My family and I have 2 camps near Raquette lake and a lot of our neighbors are actually out-of-state visitors. The adirondacks as a recreational area generates far more in state revenue than hunters and appeals to more people. Snowmobiles, boats, camp grounds etc

I wonder what they are going to want for a lifetime license now. I'll really be pissed if it is less than what I paid a couple years ago. I ponied up the dough before the lifetime went up.

That has to be grounds for a refund of sorts I would think. This skank Andy keeps doing stuff without thinking about it.Use the extra money to fix things for us hunters.Keep all of this in mind guys when the next election comes in.I would vote for a frickin dead guy before voting for him!!

By the way, not to get too far away from the original topic, but I have been wondering just who's paying for all those ads. There have been a pile of them and I know TV time isn't cheap. They really are just political ads .... they should be payed for by the Democrat Party.

So what he heck is the matter with the other political parties that they are not making a huge public stink about that? I mean that's a pretty blatant misuse of public tax money. And do we have no members of the news media that are unbiased anymore? ...... None?

So...We all seem to know whats going on here...and let me say lowering out of state fees that drastically is another slap in the face to resident NYS hunters....but bitching here won't cut it...you all have the phone #'s and the address's...Get to writing letters...or have a letter written that everyone can agree on and send...what ever.... get sending...Send in stuff to the papers

My question is why didnt they spend it on conservation? We knowingly and willingly gave them money so they could buy and up keep more stateland and such why didnt they spend it? They could have hired more dec officers, made upgrades to fishing access or something. I havent seen a thing except some more land being bought up in the ADK. Who gives a rip, no one lives in the ADK. and the majority of hunters dont go there to hunt. How bout buying more land in management areas who have very little to no state land? Or something for crying out loud, ive never heard of a state complaining they have to much money to fund something. it sounds to me they are just not wanting to be bothered with it if they cant steal the money for other uses. Something is VERY fishy about this.

I agree 100%. And, since 85% of deer hunting is done in the southern zone, that only leaves 15% that is done in the northern zone. Common sense dictates, that more money is spent on hunting goods in the southern zone.

Waste of time even reading that! No offense to the ones that posted it.

Talking up NYS for bringing in the $ $?? What a crock! That doesn't include the $ spent on gas to go hunting/fishing. I burn through $100 or more a week just traveling to my hunting grounds, so why should I care about a measly saving on my license? Like someone else said, there are bigger things as Governor to be looked at.......Like maybe gas prices!

Aren't big/small game already combined?

No reason whatsoever for a year round coyote season! None.

That coyote stip doesnt make any sense to me either. Probably came from the wind bags from the council et al and the politicians handed out candy to pacify the children (ie. make the reps from the council et al feel empowered). They wont take the time to listen to real things, but they find time for these sort of things. How many times does this exact thing have to happen over & over and be pointed out over & over before sportsmen wise up? Its mostly up to you guys in your twenties & thirties to start paying attention and use critical thinking rather than believe whatever is thrown at you...

Good point about the gas prices. People will be screaming when the fracking of natural methane gas doesnt bring down the price of gasoline and they learn that as Canada residents did, it gets exported to china and India and your heat bill actually goes up with the over seas demand.

I wouldnt worry about Cuomo getting elected again, for any office, anywhere. He made too many enemies and did too many stupid things.

Ok, so it wasn't that long ago that hunters, fishermen and trappers had it stuck to them when they raised license fees, supposedly because the DEC was in danger of going broke. Now all of a sudden they are awash in money, such that they can drop the fees and eliminate licenses. Where is the cash coming from to make up for the loss of revenue for the DEC? Is this another case of creative accounting?

Doc,

I pleaded with you a week ago to listen to that budget video. I touched on this in my drivel in that post. There is a difference between spoon feeding and force feeding. Its up to these younger guys to take the torch...

I strongly disagree about the re-election. He's a top two or three DNC candidate right now. Hillary, Cuomo, and Biden. Trust me, he knows he has a shot to get the DNC nomination. In fact, I think he's a lock favorite. I don't think Clinton will re-establish herself healthwise and with enough vigor to win. Biden, as much as he may seem like a favorite right now, another four years will age him pretty fast. Cuomo is ripe for the picking in my opinion - and he knows it - and that is why you see efforts to be progressive, get the budget done on time, etc. Him and his staff are no dummies. It's a very calculated and unfortunately, well-planned effort. I dislike him as much as anyone on here, but face the facts - he knows what he is doing here and he thus far has done it with minimal damage to his base.

You need a little more back-round info on this:

The Finch land in ADK was paid for by a private non profit with the intent of transfering it to the DEC. The DEC renegged on the deal and did not aquire it. It was to be paid for out of the EP Fund and leveraged with federal dollars. The EPF was oriinally created 20 years ago for ONE purpose - to buy land. If you watched the dam video I asked you all to watch you would see that fund is going all over the place, including requests from black nieghborhoods in NYC to help them pump out their basements. But NOT to aquire the finch property- which would be very much in line with the original intent of the environmental protection fund - unlike many other outrageous projects it will be divided up for. FYI: The Conservation Fund and the EP Fund ARE NOT THE SAME and hunting licenses dont pay into the EP Fund.

You also are mistaken about the value of this land. The investment return on conservation land is reported to be five to one, making it the best return a state could make for its money. So all the BS coming from the council and freinds about it taking away the tax base, bla, bla, bla, is just more of their bull they are brainwashing hunters with. Heck - some states have an open space TAX everybody pays! It is also untrue that the current landowner will not allow hunting, deer hunting at least, nor is it true that if it eventually does become added to the park will hunting not be allowed. See, its not about hunting...

The council et al also make misleading statement which you obviosly are repeating regarding that the dec should buy smaller tracs closer to the population centers, bla, bla, bla. Well guess what - there is plenty of money in the conservation fund to do that and federal matching grants to leverage the CF. During the same testimony, the same groups that make this posposterous claim want to lower the price of hunting licenses because the CF is large. This is outrageous! I suggest the council, which considers itself a conservation organization, to do as the other non profit did, and provide the state with matching dollars so they can get that boat ramp on the hudson river and all these small wmas...

EVERYTHING that Cuomo is doing at this point is to set himself up for the presidential run. He passes the nonsense gun control law so that he can say that his state passed the toughest gun control measures in the country. He now looks to throw a bone to sportsmen so that he can say that he supports hunters and supports the second amendment (even though it says nothing in the 2nd amendment about hunting). My wife is a teacher and his plans in the education world are a total train wreck. He cut state aid to schools, imposed a property tax increase limit of 2.5%, and increased mandates for schools with no way of funding them. Again this was done so that he can tell a national audience that NYS increased education standards without raising taxes. Meanwhile, school districts are failing and insolvent as a result of these measures. I am all in favor of school reform and I am a major proponent of tax reductions, but the simple math of his plan does not work.

Exactly, his political career is over. Sportsmen are very distracted right now and during that distraction all these crazy regs and misuse of money is happening in real time as it historically has. Im not saying it was engineered, but they are going with the flow of opportunity...

Go after the law abiding gun owners, then smooth over with a little ice cream. We'll I thing the cream is sour, and it stinks.

You are exactly correct, however do you know who provided the recipe for the sour cream? Its your own fault if you choose off the wrong menu. NY sportsmen eat too much junk food. Wise up everybody.

Are you crazy or something? It's burgeoning right now. He's one of the hottest DNC tickets for president. You must skim over reality. The guy is not for me, nor for most on this site, but he's not even close to having his political career over to our dismay.

He's on the 3-4 year plan because he's going to be running for POTUS.

Foreign polices ..where we actually gain something substantial

Keeping US citizens safe...PS see where the gov. is lessening airport security!

Stop the giving away of Tax payers money to Corporations that aren't paying taxes...Take that money and increase our crumbling infrastructure...put unemployed ppl to work

Infuse a feeling of pride we use to have in this country

This communist bastard has found another way to get at us through the backdoor. All I hear is the DEC is hurting for money and suddenly there is an excess????..Sounds like an excellent plan to put the DEC out of business and make the sportsman think that he is not a bad guy after all.

I have had many discussions with other gun owners during this major attack we are in the middle of. I have found that out of my relatively small sampling that about 50% of the gun owners dont vote and 50% of the ones that vote, thought that what is happening now would never happen.( We have some of them here BTW) Most of them have not wised up and will continue there voting habits.

We are in big trouble!!!

I try to stay out of the political arena as I find it too stressfull. I have always been a one issue voter and will continue to try to elliminate anyone that messes with my pastimes. It is very hard to gain satsifaction from this in New York State.

WE need to make Cuomo pay!!!!

If we mobilize now, Is it even possible to get him out of there in 2014?

This is a serious question , I dont know, but maybe one of you political followers can answer it.

If it is possible, how do we get going on this NOW!!

Can we find a decent candidate?

Should we find out how the Democrats vote multiple times?

Can we convince all gun owners to vote and become one issue voters? How do we do it?

Let's brainstorm this!!!

Life as we knew it several months ago is gone. This is not a battle it is all out war and we need to formulate a plan to deal with these communist polititions and anti hunting groups messing with our guns, our hunting/fishing and our squirells...

Our enemies are united and have a plan, they are executing it brilliantly!! We are in disarray and running around individually trying to figure out what to do.

On a national front, the government and the media has lulled many gun owners to sleep. Here is their plan:

* News of federal gun laws was all the rage a month ago.

* The media heavily pushed the reporting that most of it wont pass then went quiet.

* Gun owners ZZZZZZZZ snore ZZZZZZ

The rest of the story is to come

End Rant!!!

And those of us that do hunt there have so many acres to cover already that we rarely even bump into another person anyway. I've only seen two people in 17 years.

be wary of people barring gifts.... especially pollitions! i dont care if they give liscenes away, i stand by my statement... repeal the safe act or im taking my hunting money to PA. I know who cares, but its what i can do, my vote doses't seem to matter. no matter what or who upstate votes for we are at the will of the liberal downstate. I hope the courts see it our way, but until then, see you in pa.
