ATbuckhunter
...or is the sound of a guns action being racked one of the best sounds in the world?
PREDATE
yeah that's cool, but I really enjoy the small click when I take my safety off!
TeeBugg
Racking is sweet. But that safety click means lead is about to hot lead is about to fly!

silent death
Lol speaking of sounds how many people on here listen to the shots goin off and can tell when they are hitting trees i sit in ny stand and laugh cause I've heard people rip 4rounds off and hit nothing and then you here the sudden thunk... like they hit a brick wall...with no echo after the shot you can always tell when a shot hits a deer and not a miss..... Doc
That sound can be your worst enemy when there comes a need to jack another cartridge in there for one of those weird 2nd shots. I shot two deer consecutively this year, and thank heavens the Ruger American bolt action is pretty darn silent. I didn't have to give away my position with a loud clattering noise like my old Ithaca shotgun used to make.
Lawdwaz
I like the smell of the burnt powder when you eject the empty... Those of us that still use it will be inhaling the wonderfully aromatic, alluring, essential and sexy fumes of Hoppe's #9 in the coming weeks as we clean our tools of the trade. I use other much more effective (and horribly strong odors) solvents for my barrels to get the copper fouling out but Hoppe's #9 gets the nod for powder residue, mud and blood from metal parts. Tis the season.......................grins! Edited December 10, 2013 by Lawdwaz
fasteddie
I bought some Hoppe's #9 cologne at Walmart last week .

CuseHunter
I like when all three senses are in line... The smell of a spent casing, sight of a deer topple, and sound of a beer crack open.
