2 dead bears on rt 17

Brother is headed to Cortland to see his daughter at college. Just past Goshen on rt 17 there are two dead bears on the side of the road.

Who you kidding..... those things have already been photographed, framed, and are already hanging on some happy camo clad hunters wall just waiting to be spread all over hunting sites like this one!

I've seen some coons dead on the road lately that could pass for cub bears!

Been seeing a lot of bear skat in castle creek( north of binghamton 10 miles south of cortland 20 miles) no bears though.

I've heard a couple bear vs. car accidents over the scanner in the past few weeks in Broome/Delaware counties. Plenty of deer vs. car too.

I can't even imagine what kind of damage one would get if they hit a mature bear with one of these smaller cars. Here's one to ponder....What if there was a collision with a mature bear and one of these smart-cars at expressway speeds. That would be ugly messy.

Labor day weekend I saw one, already bloated and beheaded, on the side of 17 up by Hancock next to the Town Depot on the road.  He looked big and had a nice big white patch on his chest.

 

Just wonder if they took his head before he bloated from the heat.

Years ago we saw a deer get hit by a chevy. corvette soft top on that road, the deer went threw the windshield and out the back with the drivers head.

While in AK just outside the Anchorage of what I'll call loosly a thruway there's an updated for the year sign listing  moose vs vehicle collisions. More often than not i don't think the driver is walking away. Your low beams shine right under them.
