MACHINIST
I passed this buck up at 10 yards friday night after he made a scrape and rub and hung around me for 30-40 minutes all in shooting distance.I don't know why because I he is a nice buck and normally I would have taken one this size but I let him walk. After a ton of ribbing from some friends(just friendly stuff mind you) this morning my friends daughter killed her first deer and it was the buck I passed.Heres the stroy This am they went to a soybean field that is bordered by a corn field and aother CRP field.Once light got to where they could see a good distance my friend rattled because the night before he told me he heard some fighting in the woods to the south.I though it was a little early but who knows.Well after a short rattling session this guy came out from the corn ,they could only see the tips of his antlers over the soybeans because he was in a dip in the field and started their way from about 200 yards. He stopped at 150 and the very top of his vitals where showing, not enough for a good shot.My firend let out a few bleats and the buck stated towards them and stopped at 130 quartering to them she go on her rifle(243 ruger american) with a set of shooting sticks. My friend told her to let him have it and he dropped in nis tracks. She couldnt see him drop from the recoil but my friend did, thats when he went crazy!!HAHA he started shouting "YOU GOT HIM YOU GOT HIM!!!! After that he tried to unzip the blind and the zipper was stuck so the blind went flying and so did they!! ANyways pics are worth 1000 words,Here is the happy hunter and the super proud dad

First-light
Congrats, don't think I would have her holding the heart for a picture……for a first time hunter having her picture on a website I think we can do better. Again congrats on your first kill but not on the pictures posted. Edited October 13, 2014 by First-light

the blur
You will never track a deer taken with a .243. They just drop.
MACHINIST
I wouldn't say that blur, the same rifle and same rounds last year we tracked 2 deer.Granted they were short tracks but they didn't drop either.
