steve863
There needed to be an international agreement NOT to allow any flights out of the effected African nations as soon as the disease started to get out of control. Probably too late already, but this is the FIRST thing that needs to be done. I can't believe that governments are allowing people from those African nations in. Just mind boggling. Help should be sent to those nations, but NO one should be allowed out, period. Just wait and see what happens if this disease starts spreading in this country. Even just a little bit. Everyone with even a mild fever will be running to the hospital and what else is the hospital to do, other than to quarantine this person, and make sure they don't have it? If you think the cost of healthcare is high now, just wait and see what happens if this disease takes hold in the civilized world.

Merlot
Several weeks ago, we had to cancel plans for a Florida getaway, but not due to Ebola. May be best to sit out traveling for a while.

Culvercreek hunt club
she did. Actually called the CDC (Centers for Disinformation and Cover-ups) multiple times and asked if it was ok for her to go. she disclosed the 99.7 fever and they said that it was below the 101 something threshold. Now these are the folks telling us not to worry about transmission on public transportation but they instruct people with symptoms not to use public transportation to minimize the threat of spreading it. Al Bundy
You guys read where the original infected guys fiancee and kids are almost over the quarantine period right? So far looks like they did not get it. If they didnt get it, and were in much closer proximity to him for a much longer time than you would be walking down the street and walking by an infected person, Im not going to cancel my travel plans just yet. You make a good point, but we shouldn't forget that the two nurses who are now infected practically had spacesuits on and they still somehow got it. Some claim that their necks were exposed, but even if the neck was exposed, how much bodily fluids of that patient could they have gotten on their necks to get the virus? I think there are a lot of unknowns about this disease. Up to now it only occurred in Africa and everyone figured it was spread due to bad sanitation and traditional practices. Could be, but again there may be other ways that it could spread that no one realized before now. I find it interesting how they are comparing this disease to everything from AIDS to the flu, to a bunch of other things. This disease in my opinion is way worse than anything out there. AIDS didn't kill people as quickly and if you weren't promiscuous, you couldn't get it, and the flu may kill people in 3rd world countries, but in general most people who get it elsewhere, won't die from it. Ebola seems to be 70 % fatal up to now. I realize most of the cases have been in Africa that has poor healthcare compared to other places, but again it is vicious and very little is known to how to effectively treat it. For me at least, it will be interesting to see the outcome for the two nurses.

They can't guarantee how it is transmitted and they don't know when someone is fist contagious. read yesterday that 13% don't exhibit a fever during early symptoms. early symptoms are very very similar to the flu. I am getting a flu shot this year to just minimize chance f getting suspected of something and ending up in a ward next to someone who does have it. steve863
By thanksgiving Ebola will be out of the news I hope you are right. There seems to be 1000's of new cases in Africa everyday, however, so I don't think it will be completely out of the news so soon.
Elmo
It's transmitted through bodily fluids. Just was your hands before you eat and don't pis of any waitresses. It ran rampant in Africa due to poor hygiene practices. I'd be more worried about heart disease a diabetes in this country. Al Bundy
I also read that the first several or more days the nurses did not have on the space suites. I am guessing they handled specimens unprotected in the first few days. My bet is they were infected pre-diagnosis and pre-bunny suites. steve863
My bet is they were infected pre-diagnosis and pre-bunny suites. I'll risk getting Ebola if I can be examined by nurses in Playboy bunny suits. LOL Only the young pretty ones that is. The old ones can keep the spacesuits on. Five Seasons
media driven paranoia. You should now all realize that how your acting is exactly how uneducated people act about gun control when the media scares them a little. Do your research before you freak. I have been on several conference calls with my company and very knowledgeable doctors. This is NOT an issue. You should NOT cancel your travel plans.

A handful of people in the US out of 320million doesn't concern me one bit. I might get concerned if we get to 100,000 people with it. steve863
so you'd take a trip to Liberia? LOL, I heard they got some really great deals on plane fares these days. I hope you guys are right. I generally don't buckle to paranoia from the left or the right, but there are too many unknowns with this disease for me to not think about the possibilities.
