Congrats on finally taking a deer with a bow and congrats to your dad too. Sounds like you've learned something for next time. Small button bucks can easily be mistaken for a small doe. Try to get a look with binos or wait for other deer to compare. Also button bucks will be flat between their ears where as a small fawn will look rounded between them.

Great job.  Still waiting for my first, been a long time, but c'est la vie.  I've always got rifle and late bow, but I'm dying for that feeling of the first.
