Here is how I see it

 

• Legs proportionate to body size
• Distinct separability of it's front shoulder, rib cage, hind quarter
• Well defined muscular features of the front shoulder and hind quarter 
• A little belly sag
• Very large head

I am going to say he is at least 4.5 years old.

Yes that's what I was estimating. Had great pictures of him last year. He was on the hit list but then disappeared. Happy to see he is still alive

best to have a completely broadsided picture.  however, i think he's no older than 4.5 years old.  I think he's more like 3.5 yrs old though.  legs are proportionate typical of a 3.5 opposed to shorter look starting at 4.5 years old.  waist and hind quarters aren't quite thick enough for 4.5 yrs old.  did he have longer looking legs last year?

if the neck meets the chest its at least 4 and that broad side shot shows that this one does so i would say at least 4

I can't see him being a 3.5 year old in last years pics. Forward point at which shoulder bone meets leg bone is below where neck meets chest. Legs still look long. Chest isn't heavy at all compared to waist. Hind end still up in the air. Neck isn't that thick. Definitely thinking 3.5 now.

The only way to age him is to pull a tooth and he probably won't sit still for that so you better kill him 'cause its the only true way to know.

 

Another thing; few guys EVER kill a buck 4.5 years old and if they did kill one they most probably didn't know it because they didn't get him aged.  FACT

3.5 at oldest. I think the angle of pictures is why some think older. Side view is best.

It is also the same buck I keep track of all the bucks over 2.5 on the property.. He is by far not our oldest deer but he is the biggest ghost of them all.

Away on vacation and my cousin shots one of our Hit list bucks. I am happy to see years of hard work paying off for out hunting crew. Got to let them grow!!!
