National Park Catches Mountain Lion Jumping High Fence

Recommended Posts

Mountain lions can get up a tree pretty high when hunted with dogs, so I don't find it amazing at all that he got over that fence.  If a cat can get up a tree, I don't think a seven foot fence is going to hold him in.  If he couldn't jump it, he'd probably claw his way up a post and then go over.

My father would win beer money making bets with our dalmation that could clear 6. fence no problem. I would watch Deer clear a 10' high fence at the old Grumman complex in Calvrtion. on L.I. I also have a little deer born, last year that jumps my 4" fence every evening to get at the clover coming up inside of it..

7 feet is nothing for a mt lion. They are amazing creatures. They will travel at a pace of 10mph for miles after miles. Pretty sure when bounding at full speed they can skip 20-30 feet at a time.

If a house cat can jump 6 ft, then 7 ft for a mountain lion is no big deal.  I am sure if it was 10 ft and it wanted in, it would be no issue.  The animal kingdom has some powerful back legs!  Deer jumping 10 foot fence is pretty amazing.  Here are a 2 house cats jumping over 6 ft.
