Awoodchuck
So I'm still new to hunting and are looking for the signs of deer. Is this a rub?. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
kpkot
I would vote no. Rubs typically will be in a vertical position approximately at head level of the deer. Shavings are typically found at the base of the tree and can indicate how fresh it is.
Taylormike
Welcome to the site. No, definitely not a rub. Maybe an old cut or fungus. Buck rubs are pretty easy to spot.
ApexerER
I don't know what that is but it isn't a rub.....Search the forum, there are a lot of pics of rubs that people have posted. If a deer rubbed that tree it would be the biggest one I have ever seen.
beachpeaz
I'm going to go with "What is No" for $200 Alec. This is a rub:
grampy
I don't think so. Rubs tend to be more vertical as opposed to horizontal. That being said, not sure what did mark the tree. ???

Northsox65
mines bigger than yours. Nah, nah, nah, nah, poo, poo. lol I would almost be afraid to see what made the rub in your Bottom Pic, I gotta admit if I saw that in the woods I would think Bear, but normally bears scratch about 4-5 ft in the air, that deer must be HUGE! I don't own a trail cam, but I would have to buy one and put it up to get a glimps of that monster!

I have another pic I was looking for that I can't seem to find of bigger trees tore up. Its about a 1/4 acre section of woods with HUGE pine trees tore up. Its crazy. I have a general idea of what buck probably did that......but that would be a secret lol.

ncountry
Not a rub. Others posted rub pics. If you see some comparable rubs you more than likely have a/some nice buck/s in the area.. Typical rub in my area is on a 3/4"-1 1/2" tree..
