what are your thoughts on shooting an albino or pie-ball deer? i know alot of myths out there about houses burning down after the guy got a mount. what are your guys' thoughts? i would like to let them walk to hopefully have some more running around.

Had one by my camp this year. I would of shot it if it came by. My neighbor has a full body mount of a piebald he got years ago, house never burnt down and shoots a deer every year!

Id have no problem shooting an albino, piebald or white deer. Im not superstitious.

im with ya... heard alot of myths. infact i even think i had a thread like this a few months ago i started... I would love to even see one in the woods let alone shoot one.

My dad took a nice piebald 8pt on the Island and his house didn't burn down   I also have seen several piebald and Albino hunting the hamptons.

I would shoot it with 8 pts. or more like we do with the common  looking deer here. It would deserve a  trophy on the wall like some of the best deer we have harvested.  A management doe would add meat to the freezer  too.  White or brown, still taste the same and makes good ground round.

I would have to be truthful here.....I would lower the standards I have set for myself for an oddity like that. Wouldn't be a "give'em another year to grow" if it was white...but it would get the honor of a mount with my other deer.

I agree. I doubt I would maintain any age standard...it's an equally unique harvest and would be fairly represented as such on my wall.

An Albino is not a sacred cow to me.

If I see it and have a tag for it, it's going to be sporting a blood stain!

I ran into that situation, i was concentrating an a really nice eight when this guy walked out....Body and Mind went into automation with a good result! It proudly sits with my mounts and routinely gets more compliments than my biggest buck to date!

Thanks! we've had a few pieball doe around, and i have a trail cam pic of a different piebal buck that we've never seen(4 years ago) I've passed on a pieball doe .5 or six years ago..couldn't see a reason to shoot it had a big white patch on its side,would of had to do a whole body mount to see it.. this one came out and it was over without even thinking about it..actually my first thought after shooting was well i guess i better mount it.

I have never seen a Piebald or Albino . Caught a glimpse of a couple of white deer when driving down by Willard . Not absolutely sure if I saw them or imagined it .

If it's white it's down doesn't have the right ring to it !

Nice buck.  Seeing deer like that would really make my day.  Their are very few up in our area.  They show up where no hunting is allowed  in the suburbs, but very limited.  Definitely worth  every penny to have mounted. Congrats

I have seen both passed on both.  Only because I did not have a dmp to even consider it.  My buddy has a piebald doe at his camp.  He stricitly forbids anyone there to shoot her, due to the myths and legends.  Many many years ago at the old hunting camp, we had a pair of albino fawns. We saw them up close, so they were trully albino.  The funny part no one ever saw them after that.  My theory was they were shot as fawns for bragging rights by some illegal idiot. (I know name calling)  Would I shoot one now? As I sit here, I lean toward no, but I am sure if I had legal papers, it would be reconsidered at that moment.  If my house burns, I am well insured.

I really cannot explain my reasoning other than yes. I am superstitious and strong believer in Karma. I could not shoot a White Deer or an Albino. Piebald Deer however, would be a neat trophy.
