Like their personal debts and student loans, they are not worried, having no intention of ever paying them back. Just what they've been taught by the political party they endorse.

If im not mistaken. If you stop paying your student loans they will garnish wages. Who do you know who stopped paying their loans and got away with it? My kids will be in college when im still paying mine back. .

I worked my butt off before-hand (7 years)  to save money for undergrad, and worked every day to pay for grad school.

Then I worked some more for post-grad, shuttling between Chicago and Buffalo for TA positions and delivering pizzas or doing carpentry on the side. This was 30+ years ago and things have certainly changed, but I knew going in that it wasn't going to be 'easy'.

Wishes based on unicorns and rainbows aren't going to save the country, or the planet.

China is one of the world’s major solar panel manufacturing bases and expects to significantly increase its own use of the technology over the coming years. In an attempt to reduce its carbon emissions, the country wants to triple its solar power capacity to as much as 143 gigawatts by 2020, according to a recentBloomberg report.

I recently read a report that about 40% of people with student loans are not paying them back at the moment.  How can you garnish wages from people who are not working?  Some have actually left the country to avoid repaying.  They're all hoping for an amnesty program in the future like Clinton granted draft evaders.

I graduated 10 years ago. Paid my own way through engineering school and I'm still paying loans. Worked a job at sears selling appliances and had a paid internship while a full time student junior and senior year. Just like 30 years ago there were a bunch of hippies dropping acid and spitting on soldiers returning from Vietnam while you were working, today there are still hard working Americans mixed in with the lazy. Times change, people don't.

Not sure where someone gets the notion that kids these days don't pay back their student loans.  I know people who graduated over 15 years ago that are still trying to pay their loans off.  If you tally up their payments, they've paid well over the initial value of the loan.

Every person I know is swamped in loan debt and pays it back. You cant just stop oaying a loan and walk away scott free. If you decide to do that there are severe repercussions. But the truth doesnt fit some peoples agenda.

Why is the federal gov't making money on student loans? It makes billions on student loans even with the unpaid loans and administrative fees. Why?

You have to understand what's happening with loan repayment to see the whole picture.

Cohort default rates substantially underestimate the percent of students who have been unable to lower their loan balances. Of the nearly 5,700 colleges with data on both CDRs and repayment rates, the median college had a 14.9 percent three-year CDR while 40.8 percent of students did not repay any principal in the first three years after leaving college. This means that one in four exiting students was not in default, yet did not make a dent in their loan balance in the first three years after entering repayment.

The truth about student loans is very ugly.  Most college educations today do not prepare the student to earn enough money to ever pay the loan back.  The return on investment is often very poor.  It didn't used to be that way, back when people had to come up with the money on their own and colleges weren't overpriced due to all the free money the Fed gives out.

State Colleges used to be more or less free and heavily subsidized by Tax payers. The difference today is that everyone goes to College because a high school diploma no longer gets the good jobs it used to 30/40 years ago. And so now College has become a heavily competitive environment, with each school expanding facilitates and non academic departments to attempt to make things more attractive. This further inflates costs. I work in Academia. The amount of money wasted on useless administrators and sports facilities is phenomenal. Education itself is way down the list of priorities today. And so today more Tax payer money is thrown at education to push students into a system many don't belong in, because the reality is that there are fewer good paying jobs around and now employers require a degree to help separate the wheat from the chaff. Of course, now that everyone has a useless degree, this is no longer a good gauge of suitability. The whole system is a snake eating its own tail. Not much left to chew on either.

So maybe that's the reason for this climate change suit.  The money extorted from the fossil fuel industry will be used to pay off student loans, since that's who messed up their future?  The government will be happy to pay their fair share of the damages too, by raising everyone's taxes.
