Blowing around like an amusement park ride in 7J. Should have dressed based on windchill factor and not standing temp. Haven't even seen a squirrel. Didn't rain, so getting to stand was like walking on potato chips. I'd been happy to see any animal just to know I'm not the only one out here.

Woke up and the wind was just ripping. 25 mph and it's still going strong and I'm still in bed listening to it. Supposed to slow up as the day goes on and temps go down.

Wind just kicked me out.  Saw mid sized buck, two doe almost walked in range, heard a buck grunt out of no where which always gets your attention and then saw a tall spike at the end but I was nervous my tree was about to snap or uproot.  Time to get out when you start thinking of what to do when the tree goes down.  Do you jump to another tree, keep your weapon/throw your weapon, ride it out, levitate.  I think next time its windy I'll wear my cape just in case.

Been coming home a lot from college to hunt and absolutely no success. Man this is frustrating. Been hunting 7S hard. Sitting in a stand where last year I couldn't go a day without seeing a deer...be there over 15 sits and haven't seen nothing. Just gotta keep grinding. Ive heard they are chasing hard. What the heck is wrong! I don't get it. Most frustrating thing is not seeing anything. Leave and they'll be 10 deer in backyards every time. I gotta change something

3N: My Dad texted me saying he watched 4 doe circling a pine tree around 100 yards away for a full hour (730am - 830am). Finally, he decided to stalk a little closer to see if there was a buck around. Sure enough, 70 yards away was a tight racked 6pt. My Dad tried soft grunt and soft bleat, but nothing worked he wouldn't come any closer. They slowly difted away. He will probably stay there the whole day now, instead of heading back to our new property this afternoon.

Had every intention of getting out before the winds got out of hand.  However, our awesome 9 month old daughter went back on our agreement that she would sleep through the night until Monday.  Up at 11:30 PM, mom feed her, and then it was "play time" with daddy until 2 AM.  Up at five to check conditions, didn't think the combination of little sleep, windy conditions, and 20 ft up, was a good one.  Went back to bed. Mom really appreciated her good night sleep though, she's earned it!

25 mph + here now through late afternoon, off to move a stand for rifle season and then I'll poke around a new property for rifle and 2nd season archery.

I think you made a solid choice, Plenty of season left to hunt and letting momma sleep might payoff later when you want to sneak out for a hunt. I always go out of my way to make sure momma is taken care of and I never get any slack for going out hunting.

Wow...thought I was the only one helping mom last night...our little ones were restless all night....I think the flu shot caused the one to be up on am off every 45 min...wasn't worth the risk this morning with little to no sleep.
May try to get out this afternoon and swap out some cards and move a cam or two before gun opener next week.
With one in the freezer it made my decision to stay home slot easier....and mom greatly appreciated some extra zzz's

Oh Lawd...yes indead..I checked radar...rain north, not a cloud near us. Checked wind speed ,not too bad...hit the road and start out...I start getting a stinging on my face...wind starts to whip and the rain actually hurts...By the time I got half way to where I wanted to go I changed plans for it was pouring..Switch gears and hit Rivers blind...Of course...rain stopped ,but wind really picked up..Absolutely nothing is moving up here pretty morning and this wind filled in trails again but also opened everything up and I can now see all the away down into neighbors swamp. Allowing me to see whats moving about and his spring, 30 yards off the blind, is flowing well. @ 10am I went and pulled cards on the way home...I know where the deer are...On the east side of the hill or in the deep sections of the gullies or the pines/ lower swamps...That is just a given in winds like this for that is where the doe will stay...nothing on the cams last night and I managed to walk past most...so they are for sure staying east/south/ east of us....Sun just peaked out

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
