Guys, I have nothing against LJC other than him doubting my integrity (but really who cares) and he is entitled to his opinion regarding xbows and anything else, whether I agree or not.  I was kind of angry at first, but just laughing now.  Lots of naysayers out there.  I have learned to pay them no mind.  Not worth the effort.  In my experience, setting a goal and working my butt off to achieve it has paid off every time.  Some do, some complain about or have excuses for not doing.  So be it.  Moving on to something more productive, like pulling for my buddies to shoot a bigger buck than mine so I don't have to pay for dinner at season's end.  lol

Let's change the topic.

Question, can I sniff your quiver?

And FYI's a quiver sniffer is a hang on that wants to be part of the crew kinda, you know the guy that blows smoke to sound cool and heaps praise onto successful hunters. It came from Archery Talk and the "Ohio Booner" era.

lol - thank you for clarifying.  I was a bit concerned.  Never heard that term and probably will avoid using it.  Right place, right time, lucky shot.  We can all move on now.  haha

Just so we are clear, are you calling me a liar LJC?  I have nothing to prove to you or anyone, but to doubt me (well, more than doubt) simply shows YOU have no idea of what is possible, either on state land or private, with any type of bow and even a modicum (meaning small quantity) of effort.  The fact that you gave up on the recurve (too difficult perhaps or lack of work ethic?) and claim its so difficult to shoot public land deer (the huge threat brought by the crossbow hunters) may be an indication of your level of skill, as a hunter and archer, more than anything else.  The fact that its too far for you to travel to your private property (which according to you is so much easier to hunt) and then complain about public land overcrowding is also ridiculous.  The word lazy comes to mind.  But hey, what do I know?  I couldn't carry your backpack in terms of skill levels I am sure.  Heck this is only my 5th season.  The good news is that the 22 deer I have killed in that time, the vast majority with bow, don't care.  I hope the crossbow army doesn't shoot all YOUR deer, since its clear that is what concerns you.  For some odd reason, I am happy to share my woods with those that may have a better weapon as you confirm.  Doesn't threaten me in the least.  My satisfaction comes from putting in effort and achieving goals, and sharing time and excitement with my buddies when they do the same.  Best of luck to you.

I WAS NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU!!!!

I was not even taking about you . its Interesting you think I was talking about you .almost like you can't believe you shot that buck yourself.  But just for your  information I was using the same compound bow a pro line for about 20 years and it worked just fine nothing fancy those old bows you had to practice with to get good at . After getting a new compound this year only because the string broke  just days before bow season and nobody  would fix it right away  and they wanted $200 which I thought was ridiculous for a string on a 20 year old bow   I decided to get a new one this year . and seeing how much  easier they are to shoot. day and night . I don't know why exactly  someone can't just learn to use a modern  compound bow  if they want to hunt all of the archery season ? The new ones are so much easier to shoot. It's day and night .

I'm planning on  going back to a recurve actually some thing I have not used since I was a kid . Just got a new recurve this year .

The one I got is 50 ib draw weight  but have not picked out the  proper arrows yet

Since your such a expert  with the recurve could you recommend    what the best type of arrows for a 50ib   recurve at 28 draw length is . I tried using my old compound arrows but they don't fly right  at all . Should I use wood carbon or aluminum natural feather I'm assuming.

But in all  honesty besides just for target shooting and fun .

I dont know  if I will hunt with one .

When my 70 ib compound has so much more kinetic energy. Just saying  not sure if I will hunt with the recurve even if I get real good at it .

 I was I kid last time  I used one   probably  12 13 years old . .

How about getting this thread back on topic:  The "dissapearing" poll thread that was in the bowhunting section, showed that the BOWHUTERS on this site supported "full inclusion" over "leave it the way it is now" by approximately a 2:1 margin.   That is a real breakthrough in this fight and should signal the beggining of the end to those who are carrying on the fight against full inclusion.   All you are doing by carrying on is increasing casualties within the ranks of hunters.  Your cause is lost, just admit it and move on like those in many other states where the sky has not fallen, and almost all of which rank higher than NY in hunter satisfaction.

Funny just talking to a guy in pa today he says xbow ruined archery season overthere pretty much compound bow any bow basically went bye bye .

Just leave it  the way it is I say . At least till next year when my  special order $2000 600 fps crossbow with a 6 ×32 scope built-in tripod  with  lazer guided arrows from Germany gets  here  I can't wait lol

Lets see some factual stats in the states where 'people' "claim" full inclusion of the crossbow ruined the archery season.

Opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one, doesn't mean one smells any better then the next.

Most guys don't give a f about what they use what ever is easier for them to hunt deer they will use .

You put xbow in all archery 95% will  us a xbow that's a fact you can look up by the increase in xbow sells and the decrease in bow sells as more states made xbows legal .

It will allso mean more gun hunters will get into archery now .

Which if you just want to gun hunt or just want to bow hunt  then gun hunt  will have a, impact it just will .

Sorry, still just your opinion. You have the stats for all the sporting goods shops in the USA to back this up? Yes they may be gaining popularity, but i doubt they will ever become such a huge factor that vert bows become obsolete.

Really just look at this thread most guys are for xbow inclusion why do you think that is because there going to keep using there  bow lol they all going to go to the latest greatest thing the crossbow.

Then will come the airbow which  has the potential to be  made even more powerful then even a  xbow . Lol  I already know the future.

Already guys where xbows been legal are pushing for the airbow because they say it's safer . I will post you a video if you don't know what I'm talking about

You got to give one thing to LJC anyhow.  He is such a verbose member of the anti - full inclusion crowd, that the other two or three members of that group have backed off entirely on here now.   Maybe they should name a state park after him and give him exclusive hunting rights to it and then he won't have to share HIS deer with anyone else.   The less competition the better.  Who gives a crap about what the majority of bowhunters want.    Polls don't mean nothing.   Look how bad it has gotten in PA since the crossbow hordes moved in.

You will be the first one on here pushing for full inclusion of the airbow into xbow and archery season as soon as they legalize it lol

Lol I still don't believe that...rifles didn't make it any worse...compounds didn't make it any worse. Nothing has made hunting any worse except hunters fighting hunters on every little common sence law. We are our worst enemy's hands down. Instead of fighting against xbows we should all be banding together to lower the age limit for youth hunting and fighting to keep our gun rights and fighting to get our state land management programs better not fighting about a stupid xbow. Really we fight the wrong battles (myself include) as a group. If NYB put as much effort into trying to lower age limits as they do fighting xbow we would have lower youth hunt ages getting more into hunting creating more money for stateland improvement and other things. Really think about it.

It depends in what part of the state you hunt . Far up state away from NYC probably not gong to make a difference.

Life will go on either way .

What a conincidence LJC.  You were talking about the other hunter that shot a P&Y with a recurve at 25yds.  I thought those odds were so ridiculously low it couldn't happen twice and I was the person WNY was referring to when you responded saying it was really an 8yd shot.  I am done with this thread now.

The DEC has made their feelings on firearms coincident with the bow season pretty plain haven't they? And I'll bet there is no one in NYS muzzleloading organizations that think it would be a bad idea. I would imagine that if the pistol hunters were numerous enough and organized, they could jump into the middle of this free-for-all season-grab too.

The only good news to all this is that now with the crossbow advocates shoe-horning their way into the season, we'll have more selfish and elitist hunters trying to exclude other weapons from the bowseason crossbow season. Or will the new arrivals join in expanding the clutter of other weapons in bowseason? H-m-m-m-m ....... yeah, logically that is actually likely.

The only time I have heard anything about guns from Dec was to kill more does...xbows will help that...

Edit....Pistol season would be interesting lol
