Unemployment Application???

It would be cool to get paid for all the time wasted trying to actually finish an application for unemployment on the state's website.  How many of you have actually talked to a "LIVE" person so that you could finalize the app?

I feel sorry for the hard workers that desperately need the check to feed a family, etc.

Yes, I applied and was successful about a month ago but online only.  There was one or two questions that were gray areas, I don't recall what they were but it did cause me to have a furrowed brow......

God help those that need to talk to flesh & blood in these times at NYS UI.

My son in law just got a notification  in the mail this morning  He is getting his severance  package from Watkins Glen International. He was a full time maintenance  man  since he graduated  high school. 20 plus years !  Plumbing ,electrical,mechanic .

What a way to tell someone  they are done ! He has been layed off for a month.

Yes, the question; have you applied at 3 business locations last week for employment, could be considered a " gray area."

I helped my wife set it up a month ago, no issues whatsoever, I guess we were lucky. On the other hand am still working, (from home) but was informed this week that I’m taking a 15% pay cut until 12/31. Ouch.

I have 3 friends who applied before the end of March, two of whom spoke to someone on the phone and were told everything was in order.   Not one of these women has heard a word since then and none have been able to get anyone on the phone or any info about their status online.  No checks have arrived and they are out of money.

They also said something about having to be approved for "regular" unemployment before they can apply for "pandemic" unemployment.  Not sure what that is about.

I have spent hours , many days trying to get the app in and supposedly completed...the frustrating part is finally after several weeks a woman called from KS, took the final info and added it to my online portion.  When we finished the conversation she said my app is complete. She informed me to recertify each Monday.  Can't do that - when I go online , won't work, and when I call the state number it says my app is not complete, and I get disconnected.

Just another example of great mishandled crap in NY.

I got a call back and confirmed everything. They told me to fill out the PAU forms and not wait to see if I was denied regular unemployment. My claim was moved to pending status. 

There is a great group on facebook called NYS unemployment issues really helped out with questions I had.

What?! wow, sorry to hear that. I heard a person from the unemployment office on the radio a week or so ago, she said if they have to call you it will show as a restricted # on your phone. If you don't answer it - the case gets filed. She said they are trying one time, thats it. Not sure how true that is, but I don't doubt it.

Log back in and check the status.  The message you back not to your email but to your NY.gov account.  Might be some wrong or incomplete in the application?  I applied April 6th.  Received first check April 20th.

How's this for crazy- My friend is working from home and his wife tried to file unemployment with NYS using his computer. The computer is logged in through a network in Germany, so NYS saw this and started a fraud investigation on her lol.

I read in an article that someone applied online and they have a VPN for their internet so it looked like the computer was in Europe and they got denied.

So that’s pretty believable.

Thankfully a guy from NY labor(a regular worker there) called me this morning...after talking for about a minute, he said my problem was that my app was never finished because the first person that took info over the phone had my name spelled incorrectly.

He said he would straighten the whole mess out and have me fixed up in 3 minutes, and I think he got me in.  He told me not to put in for the PAU.  So, at least I'm finally done monkeying around.

This happened to one of the guys who works with me, our headquarters in in Liechtenstein, he was logged into our sever when he applied. He was denied.

My daughter has been trying to apply for 4-6 weeks now, with no luck! She completed the application online, but gets a message that says, "You are in the system but in order to claim your benefits, you must complete the claim with a specialist" and that's as far as it goes! No one has called or emailed her! She calls 100-200x/day and gets a message saying about high call volumes, then immediately gets disconnected! VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!
