luberhill
Are these things any good ? Like the 243 ones that are bullet shaped
ny hunter
I like the old fashioned one with arbors.
johnplav
If you send one through the washing machine and dryer, it will surprisingly still work... but it will no longer work accurately. Before that it was OK... close enough to get on paper.
grampy
Usually good enough to get you on paper at 100 yards. Then you can fine tune from there.
rob-c
I was going to post that they take the fun out of sighting in a rifle , but with today’s ammo shortage probably a good investment.
grampy
If you can look down the bore of a fixed position rifle, you can get pretty close too, when sighting in with optics.
Moho81
I never tried the bullet style ones and never had much success with the ones that slide into the end of the barrel either. Friend of mine has the arbor and reticle style and I have always had the best luck with it. What he does for a new scope is zero's it in to the center of the reticle to get on paper then shoots to zero in the scope at 100 yards. Once he has it zeroed in with ammo he puts the arbor back on it and takes notes of where the cross hairs are now on the arbor and reticle. This way if the scope get bumped he can get zeroed in even faster. Hopefully my rambling makes sense.
Culvercreek hunt club
You will see a wobble with them. Roll the cartridge in the chamber and you will see POI move. The one I have is a 223 laser and goes into other brass "sleeves" that make it for other calibers. Grampy is correct. Close enough to get on paper and works pretty good for that. What I did was take it one step further. I scribed an index line on the too back of the laser (like where the primer would be in a real round). After is fine tuned the sighting in I put the laser back in and rotated it and made a not that for my Encore 223 @100 yards and the index at 3 o'clock in the chamber I was on line and 2" above the crosshairs. This gives me a reference if I ever wanna recheck like after transporting the firearm. When I use it in my 30-03 note the scribe location on the laser (223) and the scribe I put into the back of the ought 6 "sleeve". plus I I change scopes this really make it easy for re-sighting in any gun I used it in previously. Do you have a link to this one and the sleeves seems like a good buy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Northcountryman
Yes, a link would be great, if possible.
Buckmaster7600
https://www.opticsplanet.com/aim-ktmaster-master-rfl-kit-green-las.htmlThis is the one I have. I’ve had it a few years and haven’t t had any trouble. It’s a bit cheaper now than it was when I bought it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
airedale
Old school for me, I have used both the Bushnell and Tasco type with arbors for fifty years, the Bushnell has the expandable style while the Tasco has an individual arbor for each caliber, I would say they are both equal in performance and will get me on the Target with no fuss. I think you can buy kits or individual sleeves. A little research on parent cases hels when trying to find the right one for anyone that doesn't know. For instance my 30-06 is the same sleeve for my 270 Win. Also a neat thing I saw was they now make a laser bolt for boresighting a crossbow. Culvercreek hunt club
https://www.aimshot.com/bore-sight I use the one with the button batteries because I like having the action closed and having it so the bolt is applying the same pressure as on a real round.
