Lucky118
The Republic is dead boys. Your going to see a fast move towards Democratic Socialism that can't be stopped. I saw this coming 20 years ago a refused to have children ever since. Feel sorry for those of you who do. They are never going to be free. I'm 65, not married, kids are grown and a life sentence or death doesn't scare me anymore at this age, especially if I'm forced to defend myself from a lethal attack by government thugs violating my rights. Ever heard of Randy Weaver of Ruby Ridge, ID? The government controls people and removes their rights by making them fear losing what they possess. Nothing I possess means as much to me as my freedom and I'm turning a lot of possessions over to family in anticipation of what may come. If you believe I don't have a nasty bite, it isn't the only thing you're wrong about. Not that it matters to me. I expect nothing of fortitude from others, and I'm seldom wrong. I find most to be completely insignificant and useless when it matters. Me and one of my brothers talk about this a lot lately. There has to be guys waiting with rooms full of guns and ammo for the STHF to stand there ground against the government,Well good luck fighting the UNITED STATES MILITARY it might take an hour or so the end it,but you'll ether be dead or if your lucky sitting in a cell with the rest of them. As for me and most other's i'll comply and continue the legal battle ALIVE AND FREE GOOD LUCK BTW that has to be the craziest statement you ever made on here. Grouse
Alive and free? LOL! After the govt sics the military on it's own people, you will feel free? You will find your face under a jack boot forever. That is the mindset of people from NY, but not from people in most of the country like the south, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico and many other free states. The law won't help you either, because it's not going to hear any cases regarding gun rights. They will be gone. And they will be taken to make you comply with everything the left plans to force on you from there on, because there won't be crap you can do about it then. People who believe this fight will be an open field battle between the military and Americans are clueless. And I don't believe the govt thinks that will be the case either. That's not even close to the method that will be employed by Americans who refuse to be "RULED". Besides, not all of the military will follow unconstitutional orders from tyrants controlling the govt, and most veterans will not side with the military when the govt comes after them. This leftist government is about to start the most vicious uprising in the history of this land, and it's not about disarming everyone, it's about total control of disarmed citizens. Over in about an hour? It will never be over, until every man who wants to be free, or every tyrant is dead. Any war against gun owners in this land will have NO Rules of Engagement. Wish good luck to the gun owners who comply in the hope these tyrants will leave them alone to cry and moan in the future, because it won't.

Grouse
Government is about coercion. Limiting government is the single most important instrument for guaranteeing liberty. Democracy is little more than mob rule, while liberty refers to the sovereignty of the individual. The true test of one’s commitment to liberty and private property rights…comes when we permit people to be free to do those voluntary things with which we disagree. In a free society, government has the responsibility of protecting us from others, but not from ourselves. The essence of government is force, and most often that force is used to accomplish evil ends. If we buy into the notion that somehow property rights are less important, or are in conflict with, human or civil rights, we give the socialists a freer hand to attack our property. Substituting democratic decision making for what should be private decision-making is nothing less than tyranny dressed up. It’s government people, not rich people, who have the power to coerce and make our lives miserable. The moral tragedy that has befallen Americans is our belief that it is okay for government to forcibly use one American to serve the purposes of another–that in my book is a working definition of slavery. Always be suspicious of those who…claim their way is the best way and are willing to force their way on the rest of us. This is what we need to fight for, because the government is fighting to control all of us.

Five Seasons
IF and this is a big IF, this isn't just another cut with an attempt at more (and yes, I realize they want more), I'm not exactly against better background checks and closing the gunshow loophole. Again, all of this is predicated on the buck stopping here and not the "give an inch, take a mile" that gun control advocates push. I also believe this maybe, and only maybe prevents a few deaths a year. Those hell bent on mass murder will just have to wait a little longer and those looking for a gunshow loophole will find a way too as money always talks. But finally, for the 3rd time, if this helps some while suburban libs feel better than fine. I don't see how it affects me. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/11/us/politics/biden-gun-control-bill.html

Next, the bill creates licensing requirements for the possession of a firearm and ammunition. DOJ shall issue such a license if the individual is 21 years of age or older, undergoes a criminal background check and psychological evaluation, completes a certified training course, and has an insurance policy. It also outlines the circumstances under which DOJ must deny a license (e.g., the individual was hospitalized with a mental illness). This is the section of the bill where it mentions the insurance. Really hoping this does not pass

Could you demonstrate a "genuine need" like they have to there? How about any multiple shot firearm? comply? Hell since Australia is so far away let's just look at our ally of Great Britain. would you just "comply" if their system was adopted? How far would be too far for you?
