QB1
Any idea on cause of death? Do you or your Uncle recognize the buck from trail cam pics or scouting from last season? Would break my heart to find a buck like that dead on the property impressive rack!
WNY Bowhunter
The carcass wasn't laying too far from the road in a swampy area. It could be a car kill...who knows? I haven't even talked to my uncle about it yet.
Lawdwaz
Can you get a idea on age? How about score? That skull looks aweful small to go with 100" B&C score. <grin>

I'd guess he was 4.5 or 5.5 years old.

WNY Bowhunter
Just a little update: I realized that I found one of this deer's broken mainbeams last spring about a mile from where he died. He really put on some serious inches between '10 and '11,

bubba
and I though we were going to discuss the grateful dead
erussell
He must have really got into one heck of a scrap to break a main beam like that. Ive watched bucks with scrawnier racks than that get into drop down drag outs and never break a tine off. He must have had one serious fight. WNY Bowhunter
I guess its interesting to note that there were 5 bucks last year (including this one) that scored over 140 that came from this square mile block of creekbottom. A neighbor found a 155" 8-pt. laying dead under an apple tree while mowing his yard a couple of weeks ago, there was a 150" 8-pt. killed by his neighbor during gun season, another neighbor killed a 141" main-frame 8-pt., and another neighbor killed a 150 class 11-pt. with a 25.5" inside spread on the opening day of gun season. landtracdeerhunter
Don't know whether congats or sorry is in order on the find . I would be sick over it, as I was holding onto his shed from a previous year. Some very nice deer in that area. Great genetics. WNY Bowhunter
Thanks guys. I actually don't hunt this area but I do shed hunt some of the local farms. I guess this explains why I wasn't having any luck finding big sheds there this spring. My uncle does hunt here and had never seen this buck before. At least he didn't go unrecovered.
