  1. COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER!! Guess our national leaders didn't expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript: "Since the dawn of creation there has been both good &evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers. "The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need! "Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts. "As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!" - Darrell Scott

  3. I just picked up one last year. A bow's rated weight is based on a 28" draw length. Your draw length is set by you and affects the bows pull weight. I purchased a 50 lb bow knowing that with my 26 1/2" draw length, I'd be holding 47 lbs at my full draw. I use a standard three finger hold. It's what I'm used to. I purchased mine from PSE's website. The price was right and I wasn't looking to spend a lot. For tips on instinctive shooting, I went to you tube. There are plenty of videos on it. I need to practice a lot more than I have been before I'd consider hunting with it.

  4. They look like a couple of rookies, hopefully next time they won't let their guard down. Just what the NRA said though, a gun in the good guys hands is the only match for a gun in the bad guys hands. "Police Officer Levay, 27, who was shot in his lower back (and protected by his vest), fired back at the shooter, killing him."

  10. We already live in a quasi-police state post 9/11. It's not too far a jump from where we are to martial law.

  13. caution on BB guns. they are more prone to richochette than pellet rounds.

  14. Heck yes ...Not saying it's the epitome of coyote rounds, but I'll bet it would kill one.. Of course, I'd take a shot at a coyote with whatever gun I had in my hands..Last one I killed was with copper plated # 6 shot.

  15. 17 HMR is fast enough. The limitations of the 17HMR wasn't the speed or the force, it was that the caliber is just too small of a bullet to tackle larger game animals. I wonder if a .22 super magnum is in the works. Having a 22 WMR with the speed and accuracy of a 17 HMR. Now, that would be a game changer.

  16. setup a target. start close and move back. bb's are cheap. we're not talking .308 ammo here.

  17. Actually I stand corrected. It says shrouded completely or partially so it can be held by the non trigger finger without being burnt, which could mean damn near every semi auto or pump action rifle out there. How are you anti-black gun guys liking what you have asked for now? Still think you should cheer on the bans?

  18. Or maybe we just need to reinstate the death penalty and use it to get rid of those that should never be a part of society again, instead of blowing $90k a year to house them.

  19. If you have good control on what bullets are going into what gun, neck sizing can actually help control head-space. The case will be fire-formed to that individual gun which is about as good a control on headspace as you can get. Neck sizing will not disturb that "perfect-fit" condition. What I do is full-length size the cases for the first loading. Once they have been shot, I neck-size only. However, the statement was made that you intended to intermix the cases from both guns. In that case, I would suggest that you full-length size every time.

  20. I never neck sized anything and a few guys I know that shoot WAY more and much better than me don't either. As long as you don't work the brass too much, just a bump, a FL die should be good. Like you mentioned, if Joseph is going to be loading for friends (I would strongly advise against this for a beginner) I think your going to have to use a FL die for sure.

  22. I don't buy the mistaking a holstein for a deer stories. Hunter education became a requirement in the late 1940's, though it focused on safety. It was expanded in the 1970's to include other aspects such as wildlife identification. However, TV has been around the whole time. I find it pretty hard to believe that someone could reach hunting age without at least seeing a cow on TV. Christ, they're even in the circus. The one time I was shot at, it was by a local upstater. Lumping folks into a category based on where they're from indicates little thought expended.

  23. ^^ what he said. Plus, if you let out the perpetrators of victimless crimes like possession of arbitrarily unlawful substances, well maybe there would have been room to keep that effin' fruitcake locked away forever like he should have been.

  24. I hunt whitetail with a 6.8 AR. Instead of purchasing 5 round mags, I took three of my 10 rounders, cut dowels approximately 1" long, wrapped them in electrical tape, removed the bottom plate of the magazines and inserted the dowels so that no more than 5 rounds could be inserted in the magazines while I am hunting. If I take this gun out for varmint, I can easily remove the dowel so that I can insert 10 rounds again. Sent from my ADR8995 using Tapatalk 2

  32. There is the reason. Brown its down is what you do not like. Honestly, when you have to drive up 2-6 hours and spend $80-100 in gas and tolls and have to make it back home late sunday night to work Monday am in the city, as long as it is legal within antler restrictions as well, if its Brown its down is right. If the brown its down guys lived near the woods, I'm sure you will see a change in the way they hunt and be more selective. Many of us just do not have that luxury and I hope you understand that. Now, as for crazy guys, I agree on both ends. You know, there are two sides to the story, and I have seen many crazy city guys as well as many crazy local guys. Both sides have em. Lets join up together as the good guys regardless of where we may be living and regardless of what we aim to shoot, horns or no horns
