I spent my day at the Nassau County HS Fencing competition today in Cold Spring Harbor HS and my daughter placed 8 out of 32 foils and is now ranked 11 in the County.

If he sees his shadow it is six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't, it is only a month and a half

After the long and extreme cold spell, got out yesterday with the beagles. Weather was perfect and ground conditions were good with a light coat of fresh snow. Dogs ran 7 bunnies by me in 3 hours and I intentionally only shot 2 of them, leaving some for another day. It was good to get out and get some fresh air and exercise, both for me and the dogs. I owe my success to the dogs in the attached photo. My male beagle is on the right in the photo. He is 10 yrs. old and still thinks and runs like he is 2. The female is on the left. She is 5 yrs. old and pairs up with him perfectly. I plan on retiring in 2 yrs. and will be looking to get another started beagle as my male will be 12 yrs. old then.

Well this greedy land owner can't wait to sell,well I guess I am waiting though,being a land owner gives me certain privileges I'd like keep for now. The farmland prices in Ontario county around us are climbing nicely . It does not stay on the market 20 minutes if it ever gets listed at all. Mostly it is bought up by a few of the bigger farmers with it never getting listed at all. Anyone Who wants to buy it is free to do what they please,hunt,tarp,farm,build Wal Marts. I like that.

Right .... And I assume that your average suburbanite landowner where most of the setback impact is likely to be felt does not subscribe to NYODN, this forum, or any of the other places that it was likely mentioned, which again was the point of my reply.

Sad thing is, he's about as accurate and reliable as most weathermen, and he didn't even go to college!

Sorry, I missed it. And of course a thread or two on a hunting forum does not exactly do much good for all the other people that are impacted by this change....particularly those most effected the suburban homeowners, which of course was the point of my reply.

The point I'm making is that some familys can't wait till elders pass so they can lot out the property and make large profits. I know of some farms I hunt in the future that are most likelly going to experience that. I'm totally against any property that has restrictions on outdoorsman accessibility.

We bought land that the ppl inheriting it sought to put into the GVT...when I read the fine print I said no way...they had already allowed the appraisal and the GVT to do a title search...This cost them a lot of $$$$..I explained to the land owner the same thing could be achieved by the lawyer putting in deed restrictions at the time of sale.which would include a No divide clause...which actually was not in the GVT contract...notice the above had 3 ZONES.....because the land has legal restrictions on it the town has to recognize these in evaluations...keeping the taxes on the parcel lower....We bought the property with the deed restrictions....it will never be devided nor have...gas wells or wind farms..as well as houses or commercial developments.and I can log as I see fit ...with out worrying about getting fined or sued on land I payed for and pay taxes on...even if it went for back taxes...the restrictions remain for ever in the deed....

Ha ha. It was a high school fencing tournament. Her weapon is a foil as opposed to a sabre and epee. No pics. She didnt want me taking any - too distracting. Go figure.

I have seen guys with the emergency blue lights hauling down our road only to pull into Fastrack to get a coffee . And ..... I know that for a fact . I know one of the guys , said something to him because to cruised through a stop sign with his light on and wasn't on call and he told me to go F--- myself . Just sayin' - not all emergency drivers are honest but for the most part they are . When they are on call they should NOT be ticketed !

Ha, you make it sound like everytime the DEC has a comment period on any of their proposals, they publish a legal notice in all the papers. If they did that, I certainly missed it along with a whole lot of other folks too I imagine. I hate to tell you, but damn few people monitor the DEC web-site to see what they are up to. Maybe they are all busy monitoring all the other NYS agencies as well as chasing down all the legislative proposals in the works and just don't always get a chance to get around to the DEC .... lol. I wonder how many people even know that the DEC has put forth a 5 year plan? Probably none of those non-hunting suburbanites that are most effected by the setback part of the proposal. So if some of this crap happens to slip by almost all of the people in the state, I don't think they should really be all sitting around wringing their hands with guilt....lol. I want to meet the guy who is up on all the things we are supposed to have a personal responsibility to keep ourselves informed on. Chances are good that when I find someone who claims that they successfully do this, I will have also found a liar. If you devoted your entire waking hours to digging out all the agenda items of every state government agency (notice I didn't even mention Federal) you still could not come anywhere near discovering all the things that are going on in government that effect your life. It all reminds me of that other ridiculous statement that "ignorance of the law is no excuse". Sure that's the theoretical way that the government gets themselves off the hook, but when you add in logic and practicality, you quickly realize just how stupid a statement of that sort really is. This other notion that it is a personal responsibility to keep yourself informed is equally ridiculous for anyone who actually takes the half-second to think about it. And as far as the surveys are concerned, if only a handful of hunters are surveyed, I guess the responses will likely be skewed in favor of only hunter wishes. Seems kind of logical doesn't it. And if you don't survey those that are most closely impacted (residents) then it shouldn't surprise anyone if the survey come out a bit skewed.

I went though everything that was on the super sportsman license to see how much I will save on licenses though the new structure and I save 1 dollar!!!!

Should make calling them in very difficult.

Be sure to add antlers to the list for #35! It gets a little boring watching the kiddos bring back sticks, rocks, and leaves all week long. Make them work for their roasted Starbursts! The cut straw idea was a fav for me. I'm sure someone thought that would be a great idea for storing black powder untill they tried to seal the straw,lol
