  1. BULL! Don't get that union crap involved here. Unions have no pull in the south because they are not wanted or needed by the workers. All the current employees are being offered transfers. Remington has always offered health insurance and paid time off. So do most large corporations in the area they are moving to. Probably no relocation paid and hourly rates competitive for the area, but a better life and a job where freedom still means something is better than $405 per week in NY unemployment. They're not selling out, they are escaping tyranny and extortion by the state government. They know soon most of their products will be illegal in NY, so why would they be expected to stay here? If the Remington workers want to cry about injustice, they should've all been in Albany the day after the Safe Act was signed. But unions support Cuomo, don't they? You lie down with dogs, you get fleas. True Patriots don't comply with tyranny. The tree of Liberty has to constantly watered, sometimes with the blood of true Patriots. If you can't move to stand up for New Yorker's rights and liberty, you are not a true Patriot.

  2. Haha- I'm practically tripping over these things every morning on my way to the turkey blinds. I spotted another reflection today that tipped me off to this guy in the creek bottom. Just a tiny glimmer that I almost thought was a drop of dew on the grass shining back at me. Here's #2! I'll call him "Dewie",lol

  3. Last week I worked this same bird but he had hens with him and wouldn't fall for my calling while having the real deal with him. This morning I took my nephew out for the first time this season. We arrived at my buddy's place at 4:30 and started getting ready for the morning's hunt around 4:45. As we were getting ready he hammered us with his morning wake up call from the same location where he was roosted last week. We quickened our pace and got set up within 60 yards of him as I knew exactly where he was roosted. He gobbled his fool head off this morning!! I gave him some real soft purrs and clucks and he went crazy!! Around 5:15 I gave him a fly down cackle and he lost his mind altogether. Wasn't long after that he flew down and he was only 30 yards from us!! I told my nephew to shoot him as soon as he was ready and not a minute later he had his first longbeard of the season!! 19lbs, 9.5" beard and 1" spurs

  4. If you think Remington was looking to relocate prior to the Safe Act, absorbing millions in relocation costs for nothing, you're wrong. Who needs high taxes and over regulation? Nobody. I'm sure they didn't want to do this to their employees. But when stockholders demand it, and many loyal customers tell you boycotts are coming, business demands profitable decisions. The move has everything to do with the Safe Act, because NY offered all sorts of bribes for them to stay to no avail. All of which were at taxpayer expense by the way. Remington employees should be blaming Cuomo. If they are not, they're stupid. The same goes for the folks left to live in the ghost town. None of this would've happened if Cuomo wasn't a fool. For Remington, this was the last straw. I can't believe any gun owner would blame Remington for this decision instead of Cuomo. No company should stay and produce tax revenue for any government that hates them. You guys want to show Leftists there is a cost to anti-gun laws? This is the way it should be done. It's not running away, it's voting for freedom.

  5. I've been hunting the same gobbler for about two weeks.. He's been roosting in the same area and has been "somewhat" responsive to calls, but not to the point of being suicidal. I called in a bird there last Sunday that MAY have been him, but I only got to see his head and neck, and he spotted me before I could get a shot. Three days ago I called him into a field about 75 yards away from me and I got a good look at him, but a hen intervened and led him away. I could see he was a BIG bird, with a huge fan and a nice beard. This morning, things fell together...he gobbled early, and responded to (hot) calling, but eventually moved away, probably because he hooked up with a hen. Then about 10:00 AM he started gobbling again. He was across a road and a creek, and I never really thought he would come, but I started calling anyway. When I heard him gobble on MY side of the creek, I knew he had committed. I killed him at 10:45 am. At 22 1/4 pounds, he's the 2nd heaviest gobbler I have ever shot in NY. Spurs were 1 1/4" and sharp, making him at least a 3 year old. His beard was heavy, thick, and 10 ". I can count the 10" beards I have killed on one hand. I have pictures on my digital camera. If The Mermaid can figure out how to get them on email, I'll send them to someone to be posted. Meanwhile, I am a satisfied old turkey hunter.. Hunting a nice bird for a couple of weeks and finally killing him. Just don't GET no better than that.

  6. 6P, 5 or so gobblers on the roost hammering from 5:30 - 6:50. Fought with a hen and had her come in to 10 yards. I was getting tired of mimicking her and Im sure she was tired of it too, was about 45 minutes straight of back and forth, me cutting her off, one upping her. thick swampy hardwoods. made the move to put a sneak on them. Turned out that only three jakes were left hanging around a hen. Got behind a big oak and the hen came looking for me. Dragged the jakes along. Dropped a Jake with a neckshot (not intentional, dropped in his tracks, i was shooting a standard slick trick). Happy to have connected with the bow. Shotgun time next. 2nd hunt this season but they were gobbling good both times. I guess I've been lucky. Still very henned up.

  7. I have no problem with killing a jake every once in awhile, lets get that out front first. This morning I hooted (I know I'm not supposed to or I'll educate them too much!) for the first little bit then after I heard the first crow (I know, I know) I gave a few blasts on the "Ol Faulks wooden call. Nothing........... I took a loop around and got off the main trail and headed to the head of a gully/ravine. With water rushing pretty good in the creek bottom it was tough to hear very good. I backed off a bit and plopped down on a log and gave a little hen talk on my box call. I'll be dipped, a gobble! From across the gully a tom hollered pretty good to me. I made a move down the ridge and set up. I made a quick call and determined he was still on the limb. After about 5-7 minutes he made a few more gobbles and then I could finally tell he was down on the ground. I moved one more time and I was set, he gobbled a couple more times before he showed his purty blue head. He strutted twice, I noted a full fan and had a quick glimpse of a beard and pulled the trigger. Cool....... Much to my surprise but NOT disappointment I noticed he was a jake. I've killed full fan jakes before so I wasn't too surprised. He'll eat very good.................................................

  9. Right thing or wrong thing, I don't believe they were given a lot of choice. And while they are the largest of the arms manufacturers, there are getting to be quite a few others that are forced into making the same decision.....all representing jobs and benefits for NYS people as well as the loss of tax revenues and contributions to the NYS economy. Lets put our wrath where it belongs, and that is not the gun manufacturers. I think Remington and others were perfectly happy where they were until the SAFE Act.

  10. Doing the right thing by selling out on their loyal life time employees by going to a state where they can pay the labor 8 bucks an hour without health insurance or any paid time off all while claiming they are true patriots, nice.

  11. Thanks guys! Since this post got brought back up to the top I figured I would load a few more pics and videos from my Moultrie I also ran at the den. First a couple quick still photos... Every now and then I would drop off some "Scooby snacks" for momma in the mornings and watch her scoop them up and hide or burry them around the den throughout the day. I threw an antler out there to see what they'd do with it. I got a few vids of the pups wrestling around with it, but I'm having a hard time finding those pics and clips among the 1000's of files. The antler escaped with no damage even though they chewed on it a bit with those little needle teeth! Every once in a while I'd catch momma coming back with some "fast food" for the kids! ****- these next images are video clips. Click pic for clips. Momma dropping off a mouth full of moles for breakfast. One day I went up there and found 12 little mole bodies piled at the den entrance, lol Here she is scooping up some of her special delivery treats I brought her. Doing a little spring cleaning at the den entrance while the kids get in the way... Fighting over that big fat squill momma brought home for them... This little guy must not have gotten any squill so he decided to chew on my cam for a bit... And finally after a long day of playing and eating everything in sight, it was time for a tall cold glass of milk before bed time.

  12. So I was standing on my porch with wife when we herd a snort....I looked over and a doe came running out from behind barn snorting at a cat. The doe chased this cat back and forth thru the field for a good min or so...I knew there had to be a fawn so I called my 4 year old out and we watched this doe...the fawn finally stood up and was the smallest fawn I've ever seen still new on its feet from what I could tell. Mom and fawn just wondered around field for about 30 min before started up the hill...very cool for wife kids and me. And this was all happening 40 or 50 yards off back porch. Pics are on camera and I don't have comp we use our phones so when I have a chance I'll post pics...I so have mom pic but can't make out fawn on phone pic... Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk

  15. Well, actually I never knew anything about you years ago ... lol. And probably those that did listened briefly to your Henny Penny imitation constantly running around in circles, waving your arms frantically and declaring that the sky is falling. The problem with that behavior is that on the rare occasion that you might have something credibly worth saying, everyone has already tuned you out. It's the old "crying wolf syndrome". It gets especially weird when you get off into your militia mode. So, I have no idea what it is that you were saying "years ago", but I imagine it was about as incredible as some of the strange nonsense you have been spewing here, and likely it was quite properly being ignored. People respond to positive direction and hopeful leadership, and really don't have a lot of patience for the old "woe is me, the world is falling apart and there's nothing that can be done" party line. Frankly, I don't listen to people who's answer to everything is to run and hide, while trying to discourage all those that are interested in making real contributions to real solutions. I see nothing positive in any of that and would rather not get bogged down in the self-pity and negativity that never brings any real change. I think we have had more than enough of that already and we really don't have time for anymore of it.

  20. I have always liked Remington and this wont make me stop buying their products,in fact I may be pushed to look at their products first. In this world there will be people that just hate on everything that a company does.My family owns a business that has been in CNY for over 50 years,my grandfather (89 years old) is still active in the day to day operations and says that all the BS that the state hands down these days he is amazed that any big company would come here in the first place. Its to bad because NY is a great place for all the things a sportsman wants and has access to.State lands up the wazoo, great fishing all over the state, liberal bag limits, nice long hunting season and the list can go on and on.But when the state government will go behind closed doors and vote in a midnight law quicker than you can snap your fingers something wrong, they take longer time to decide on the state snack for Christ sake!!! That to me spells hypocrite through and through and you either lay in bed with a government like that or stand up for your rights and belief's!!!!

  22. I just can't see any logic in keeping a gun company in NY. This is a anti-gun state, proven by the safe act and all those horrible guns that are now? Registered? O wait most of the million or so assault guns are not registered! So now they are banned? Somehow I do not feel safer knowing this "Safe Act" has done nothing to improve gun safety. Remington is being forced out. Smart sensible and logical. Don't blame them for going to a more gun friendly environment. In so far as patriotism look at the communist that is trampling on our second amendment that caused this. Remington is the victim not the problem.

  28. Actually very few unions support Cuomo. He has screwed unions almost as much as he has screwed gun owners since taking office. Most unions refuse to endorse him.

  29. You have to look at this from the liberal perspective. You see, if the Remington folks were good people, they would keep the jobs where they are, even if they were losing money at the plant. By moving those jobs to a friendlier climate, they are just proving that they are evil and don’t belong in a good place like New York. Maybe we need even more restrictions, so that more immoral anti-worker companies like Remington will be forced out. Yeah, that’s it! Fewer jobs = better for people! Can’t feel much sympathy for union workers (UMW at Remington) given the monolithic and massive support given to the Democrat party by all unions. (plus the appearance of corruption when it’s a government union) They told Remington workers to vote for Cuomo and many probably did. They’ve gotten what they are proponents of: Socialism/Big Government/Financial Largesse for some at the expense of the many. Union propagandists have been putting their members out of work for years. (sort of like how Journalists’ lack of objectivity is killing News reporting.)
