Just paint a big 'X' on the ground and stand on it. From what i remember from childhood cartoons, one should appear from the sky shortly. Good luck.6 points

This is Canada's comedian's (version of Letterman) Top Ten List of America's Stupidity. We look like idiots! # 10 Only in America... could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 per plate Obama campaign fund-raising event. # 09 Only in America... could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal workforce is black while only 14% of the population is black, 40+% of all federal entitlements goes to black Americans - 3X the rate that go to whites, 5X the rate that go to Hispanics! # 08 Only in America... could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes. # 07 Only in America... can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash. # 06 Only in America... would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens. (probably should be number one) # 05 Only in America... could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be called EXTREMISTS. # 04 Only in America... could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote. # 03 Only in America... could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. Oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike). # 02 Only in America... could you collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year – for total spending of $7 Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money. # 01 Only in America.... could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.3 points

I decided to sit down in the swamp for a while this morning to see what kind of birds were flying around. I saw some great action, but the highlight of my morning came when a hen wood duck came flapping out of the cat tails putting on the "lame duck" act while quacking up a storm. I thought she spotted me for a moment, but then something caught my eye from the shore where she came from. I thought it was a deer, or maybe a fawn at first, but suddenly I saw a little duckling run from the green forest and paddle for dear life once he hit the waters edge. A split second later, this fox came hot on it's heels and landed at the swamp edge in front of me. I was lucky to get 3 shots off before he turned tail and vanished before my eyes. This was a super cool encounter, and I was happy to come home with this shot! The duckling survived to see another day!3 points

You should. Even locally there are publications that might accept your work. The quality is definitely there. It won't make you a millionaire and paparazzi won't flock to your door but it's nice to see your name in print and pick up a little something extra doing something you love.3 points

Maybe you should move to Canada then, so you could laugh at Americans right along with them? They've only got strict gun laws, higher taxes and a national healthcare system, so you'll probably fit in nicely up there. LOL2 points

There is one thing that is clear and that is that nobody has ever found an in depth explanation from the DEC as to what the details of the statistical procedures are that they use in their management decisions. Not to sound conspiratorial about it all, but it seems like they are not understanding the importance of hunter buy-in on the credibility of their system. Why treat it all like some kind of secret? Hunters are their primary control tool that is required for population management. I'm thinking that cooperation needs to be earned by some up-front answers to all the questions that repeatedly come up in these discussions. And answers like, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", or "It is too complex a system for the layman to understand" just does not cut it anymore. Dumb it down for us if need be, but make an attempt to educate the hunters who demand credibility and not just patronizing responses, or over generalized descriptions that are very hard to believe. This attitude of "Trust us" simply is not working anymore. You want hunter cooperation, then you need DEC credibility.2 points

I was taking walk thru Golden Hill St.Park earlier today and came across this snake going across path I was walking. It was moving tip of its tail like a rattlesnake would when coiled up, but there was no rattle. And it lunged out to bite when it was coiled. I know nothing about snakes so was wondering if anyone knew what kind it was.1 point

I wouldn't blame you if you never returned to this site again. Even if it was just to give an arrogant little jab from the shadows..…….It must have been hard for you...1 point

This has nothing to do with Canada. In fact that list wasn't written by a Canadian. You can tell it wasn't because of: "responsible for our tax code" Why would a Canadian complaining about Timothy Geithner write "our" tax code? Hint: Because he was an American. This copypasta has been circulating on the internet for years now and it's on roughly 70,000 pages now.1 point

Its all in fun and the list is sad but true BUT……….. Only in Canada would a comedian be arrogant enough to mock the one nation that makes it possible for Canada to have an annual defense budget of around 12 dollars, and keeps Canada from being invaded by a Girl Scout troop !! See…its all in fun LOL!!1 point

Fished with my Dad for a few hours tonight 530-830pm, struck out on brown and lake trout but got 2 decent bass (17" and 18") and a 13" crappie. All fish released. Did a bunch of rowing, nice night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I go with the National. Great food and a lot more choices on the menu. Now, if the weather is nice and you want to eat outside by the water, I'd recommend the Beach Comber on Conesus Lake. Just another 20 mins to the east and a neat place to visit in the summer.1 point

I think you're right about hunters being more cooperative about taking out does if they were confident that is what needs to be done in their area. Now that most hunters understand the importance of herd balance, they need to have proof that the balance is actually skewed in some way... AND the means to the solution has to make sense to them.1 point

The National Hotel in Leicester has always had excellent food . I have eaten there on several occasions .1 point

Core ranges are small...about 5-10% of the deer's overall range in most cases. Alphas will tolerate peripheral lapses in the core range, but will act out toward does trying to set up shop within a core. With the deer density you have in Gen. Co. there is alot of overlap, and I would expect the average core to be small acreage wise because there is alot of cover/food/water. For example, a soy bean field might be 40-50 acres and shared by several doe groups and a bachelor group as a destination food source, but they're not necessarily all going back to the same house after dinner.1 point

Slick Trick standards are my first choice for fixed. Look at the 1 3/8" GR razor tips if you don't have enough energy to push the 2" GR...very effective. I only use these two heads (ST and the GR) exclusively now and see zero reason to change.1 point

1 out of 20 indicates 95+% breeding rate, which is probably par for the course down in your Wellsville area. And that was with you targeting the older does.1 point

No that was Carolyn McCarthy. He husband was killed and her son wounded on the LIRR when a nut with a gun decided to shoot it up. That got her elected on an anti-gun platform. She finally retired. This Congress woman, Carolyn Maloney, was born and raised in South Carolina, went to college there, moved to NYC in 1970 and found her Leftist Liberal utopia. She decided to stay and mess up the country from there since then. Maloney's initiative to implement firearm liability insurance has been met with widespread criticism. Experts in insurance law state liability insurance would not deter gun violence, as criminal activity and suicides- comprising 97% of firearm deaths- do not fall under liability policies. Economists from Stanford University have also theorized the main motivation of advocates of firearm liability laws is to discourage gun ownership by raising the cost of owning a gun.1 point

The local dairy farmer did something I haven't seen before...he went into a 30 acre clover feild that was nearly 2 ft high and dumped several inches of liquid manure on it...so much that it completely flattened and totally covered a the clover...we frequently see pheasants in that area...between those and the turkey..I do wonder..he spread it right to the wood line...That sits over a well known trout stream....1 point
