After a disappointing archery trip to illinois, my nephew and I were able to redeem ourselves. I killed this heavy bodied target 8 on my new land in the NZ and my nephew connected with a beautiful 9 in the SZ. Im much prouder of these NY deer than I would have been with an Illinois kill. So overall, we had a great season.

As will a .30-06, .308, .30-30, 7MM Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag, etc. etc. And of course there are still new cartridges coming out every day it seems that claim to be better than any of the older ones. All BS in my opinion and only brainwashing people into thinking they need to buy something new that will work better. A guy who knows how to hunt and can shoot straight will kill deer with any of them just the same.

Disagree; the Democrat part too deeply entrenched in our state and will vote party line no matter WHO is on the ballot. A real Republican cannot win in NY for Governor, and, most certainly, will not go Red for President , either.

We should be so lucky to get a Trump clone for governor. But, that will never happen here in NYS. No one who would upset the status quo apple-cart in this state will ever be elected. The pinko crowd is too eager to elect whoever promises them the most freebies. The whole culture of this state has been manipulated to favor the "give-away establishment". We all let it happen, and it will take a miracle to vote in someone who is not promising the freeloaders a continuation of the government handouts on backs of the employed. Yes, that is a defeatist attitude, but it is the reality of what is driving people and businesses out of the state. We need a Trump-style governor to straighten up the direction of this state.

My NEF 25-06 single shot has anchored many deer over the years . I see no need to change . The only 7mm I have is a 7-30 waters ( 7 mm bullet in a necked down 30-30 cartridge) Thompson Contender single shot pistol that I have taken a couple deer with .

Most of the Republicans and a lot of blue dog Democrats retired and moved or left the state during the covid lockdowns and never looked back, ensuring a total lockdown for the Democrats here. If you think otherwise, your taking advantage of the lax drug laws being passed. The RINO GOP here dangle the carrot in front of us long enough to vote them in, then pull the rug from under us. Happened with Astorino and Zeldin. At least we know where we stand with the Democrats.

New York would have voted her out if the Republican candidate for Governor wasn't up Trump's butt the way he was. That's what killed it for him. Otherwise he would have taken her down. The total votes for the Zeldin weren't too far behind her. Trump a New Yorker or anyone else who supports him the way Zeldin did can't win in this state. Also, out of almost 20 million people residing in NYS less than 6 million voted. Enough of those not voting are registered republicans. That doesn't help matters either. Now you've got Hochul for another 4 years.

Tuesday afternoon sit would have been perfect, without the snow on the ground. Had a good size doe come out to the corn, well out of my range. Right at quiting time, five young ones came out of the brush at bow range, crossed one at a time to the corn. Looking to hunt first time between 26th and the 1st. Will have to check the hunting guide, see what can be used.

Did a little walk at 3:00 did not cut one track. Ended up by my corn field. About 4:45 a Doe comes out and walks into the field. She turns and walks away and now is at 80 yards or so. Turns broadside and I let it rip. Took off did a big circle and went back where she came from.......unscathed! Oh well That's pretty much it for me. I will hunt the Holiday hunt later in the week. My neighbor has a Grand daughter that is dying to shoot her first deer. We will put on some mini drives for her.

I have said for many years that reparations are deserved. First we have to find out who was descended from slaves as just being black does not qualify a person. Second we have to hold the places in Africa who sold slaves accountable as it was their idea. In fact they still practice slavery in that part of the world but it doesn't bother Democrats only what happened here 200 years ago. They blame people who weren't here or were here but didn't own any slaves. Third we should hold accountable the countries who engaged in transporting the slaves as they didn't swim here and we weren't even a country for half the time, Last reparations have been decided I think it was 40 acres and a mule. So luckily with advanced DNA tests we can find out what part of Africa the victims came from and that country should provide the land. Of course that's fair because part of the reparations is to compensate victims from being stolen from their country. The countries who shipped the slaves should have to provide free transportation. We should provide the mule. I would be ok with substituting a small tractor but the mule is probably better as fuel costs may be a burden. Last any victim who doesn't want this deal should sign a NDA to shut up for the rest of their lives. Most of us came here fleeing poverty and starvation from Europe and found far better lives than our families faced in their home countries. Most of us faced discrimination when we arrived here whether Irish, Italian or whatever. Now I know slavery was a far worse fate for the poor victims who lived it but not only is it over but a half a million American white people died to end it. Does that count for anything? Are there any reparations to those families?

I had a real nice Fall hitting the timber almost every day for both Squirrels and Deer, I just enjoy being in the woods. Was semi disappointed that I saw no Bucks but I was seeing Does almost every time out and that is what I ended up taking near the end of the season. One Deer is all the wife and I can utilize so that is all I will take. Hunting is far from over for me, as long as the snow does not get too deep I will be small game hunting with one of my dogs which I actually enjoy more. Al

Hell , I just found this posting. The problem is someone got offended on this site and took the political section out of the main heading listings. I know WNYBuckethunter was trying to lighten the heated discussions in the political section. I think the rational people that stayed with this forum, are able to discuss in that form. I for one, would like it to show back up in the main index again.
