  1. Hit the backcountry in the Jessup /River WF last Thursday in anticipation of the opener Saturday - Tons of leaves on the ground which made it hard to find scrapes not to mention all the noise those leaves made - Sunday morning it was a chilly 13 degrees - Ground cover white with frost - About a mile from camp I came across an area where a buck had literally tore up the area - 7 scrapes in a row - never saw anything like it - Testosterone levels on that buck must have been horrendous - (Can't imagine how swollen his neck was) - At any rate only caught sight of one flag but couldn't tell what it was it happened so fast in the thicket - Got home last night exhausted from still hunting and climbing those mountains which aren't getting any smaller - Heading back soon - good luck out thereBLUESMAN

  3. Some of these people definitely have a problem, the only time they are here is to create a shit show, as soon as I saw this thread I knew it would not be long before they showed up here slinging shit and like clock work they came! Nothing out of them for years that is positive. They need to get out and do some hunting and should stay where they belong! I have never seen people with such thin skin, they act like little kids and are embarrassing themselves. Al

  4. First I would like you to show us where there was any bragging or boasting!! Then, I know you’re a little slow so I will write slow here. If you read Air’s post above about the people with the “ Derangement Syndrome “. When it comes to Four Seasons…. Which you have one of the worst cases, you will see where the living rent free comment came in. Me living rent free in the jealous peoples minds. Like Yours. Now let’s do show the class where there was boasting or bragging done on this post anywhere by anyone. Then I will no longer waste time on you and this important thread can get back on track with the people that might have a little knowledge of the subject.

  6. Live from the field: Morning and afternoon sits are on top right now. Going to start 11 to 2 sits shortly. I have good luck with those times, for several years. Bucks are in full checkout mode. Come in the field scattering the doe. We even had a lock down yesterday.

  8. Another great day to enjoy the sunrise, with the mild temperatures. Enjoy it while it last; next week, colder with snow. A few visitors stop by to say hello.

  11. They are just starting to get up on their feet in daylight hours. I always stay out of the woods until Halloween or when I start getting mature target bucks on cameras. Time to get after it after this crazy heat gets back out of here.

  12. Up in stand in 9a, pretty good gusts of wind. My friend is on back side of property. Buck came past stand around noon. Hopefully we will see him make another trip thru.

  13. You know Grampy, you might be right. I didn't realize he was referring to FSW in his post. LOL Absolutely not, I was referring to you Steve and Mowin among others who are "AWAYS" involved in these threads. When it comes to Four Seasons there are plenty of things I do not agree with, I know he would think just about every Deer I ever shot was laughable, but I don't care. I not going to argue like a two year old over trivial stuff like that. I can read and understand English pretty well and do not need some clubhouse lawyers dissecting everything Four Seasons posts and criticizing them every time he posts something. Now maybe I am missing something, did he go over to your wonderful board and start name calling and it lead to spilling garbage posts over here? Because I have to say I saw absolutely nothing in this thread that deserved these attacks. Al

  14. Please stop. You are calling us out but saying NOTHING to FSW who has been slinging shit around here more than anyone else. Go ahead and tell us that you aren't seeing anything wrong with his condescending tone on this forum?? We will await your reply.

  15. Al, are you referring to FS's??? As you described him perfectly! And I agree with you 100%

  16. Oh, I am grateful for EVERYTHING I have in this life. I live quite comfortably, thank you. Only difference is that I don't need to keep telling everyone on this site how good I have it like you have been doing for years around here. It's the guy who thinks that everyone is jealous of him who may need counseling or something more drastic and not anyone else around here.
    1 point
  17. Exactly. Nothing but showing how bad you have it. Now you can disappear from the site again for a few months but for gods sake get yourself some counseling.

  18. If saying that you are living "rent free" in a thread about CWD is irrelevant why did you bring it up? Your constant bragging and boasting here is what's childish. This is not an attack but the truth. Anyone who has ever read any of your posts knows that it's the truth.

  19. Out on maneuvers this morning for a little while with the Kingston Garand 22, I love this rifle and I can really shoot it well. Used for steel challenge matches mostly as she is a bit heavy to be lugging around for hunting. Al Al

  22. Totally bizarre statement. So why do you think this puts you above the rest of the world? Plenty of other people who have paid off their homes are living "rent free". But, then there are taxes, fuel, water, maintenance, etc. So NO one is living totally "rent free" in this world. Try not paying the taxes and you'll see how long you remain in this "rent free" facility of yours.

  26. I hadn't shot my Center Point 370 since last year . I took it out back this afternoon and shot it at 20 , 25 and 30 yards . No adjustment needed . I still have the original scope that came with the crossbow . No need to spend big bucks that will do the same .

  27. After checking the zero of this little Squirrel rifle I found it is pretty much right on the money, I just have to remember it is not the tack driver my dedicated Squirrel guns are and keep my shots short. So a little redemption yesterday, took a Squirrel with her at around 25 yards, old Davy would have been proud. Al

  30. 4:30 yesterday a “doe” comes trotting down a trail right below me and stops, talk about luck. I look thru the peep site at full draw and quickly notice 1 little spike antler. Surprisingly big body for a little spike. I let down, he caught the movement above him, went Oh Crap and bolted away.

  32. Not much of a Deer hunter these days and usually from the middle of the season on, but last night I decided to get out the first thing in the morning. Got bundled up and grabbed the Howa Superlight 6.5 Creedmoor and headed out. A frosty start to the day and as the daylight started coming on the woods began to come alive. Walked to one of my favorite Squirrel hunting spots and sat down on a stump. Squirrels and Blue Jays were in the Beech trees gathering mast, I could hear Turkeys talking. Was not sitting for five minutes and saw a Doe walking through the trees, I have a permit but I let her slide. Then a parade of Turkeys appeared started toward me and low and behold a Buck was walking along in front of them. Put the crosshairs behind the front shoulder and shot, he hunched up and took off running but I knew he would not go too far. I walked back home and got my Airedale pup Ruff and brought him to the spot the Buck was walking when I shot. There was no visible blood but I put the pup on the track and away we went, not 50 yards and there he was deader than a doornail, A good introduction to Deer tracking for young Ruff, I believe he will handle Deer tracking quite well. Good part he was not far from a logging road so I got my tractor and drove close enough for an easy drag and flopped him into the loader bucket and brought him home to dress out. One of my shortest Deer hunts ever. Al

  33. What a night in PA! Youth rifle, got out of work at 3, got in stand at 4:30, shot doe at 5:15, ran to car, traded the rifle for the crossbow, 4 spikes chasing doe and all fighting in front of us. shot the buck at 6:05! His first buck. Prefect 30 yard shot. Saw a nice 8pt and 7 doe on drive out!

  35. October 27, 2024 New York State Confirms an Isolated Detection of Chronic Wasting Disease in DEC’S Region 6 The New York State Departments of Agriculture and Markets (AGM) and Environmental Conservation (DEC), in coordination with the State Department of Health (DOH), today announced a confirmed case of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in a facility in DEC’s Region 6 area. While there is no evidence that CWD is present in wild deer at this time, DEC will initiate enhanced surveillance in wild deer working with local hunters, processors, and taxidermists in the area. Efforts are also underway to collect roadkill to determine if CWD is present in wild deer. It's what happens when you just read the headlines. https://dec.ny.gov/news/press-releases/2024/10/new-york-state-confirms-an-isolated-detection-of-chronic-wasting-disease-in-decs-region-6
