  1. Just made a trip down to the store and on the way back I took the back road. to see if any thing was moving. Had a flock of gobbler's cross in front of me. There was a doz or so birds, half jakes and the others looked to be two year olds.Glad to see them ,because the last two seasons were real slow around here. It got the blood pumping.

  2. Have a good flock of 50-60 birds on my place. They are loving the standing corn! Never had these numbers before.

  3. Early, it’s sad that you judge people as you do. I do not understand why you believe a persons ability to spell defines who they are a person. Please don’t say you were just trying to be helpful because we know differently, I think you are showing that you might be arrogant and self centered.

  4. Something like this is all too common on hunting forums: "I seen three doe today......!" What the guy really meant was that he saw three does. Two rules to remember: "Never let them see you sweat!"...and, "Never give them a reason to think you're stupid!" Don't let your language trip you up.

  9. I bought a new 026 Stihl back in 1994. Still runs like a champ! The chaps (as stated above), helmet/shield/muff combo are really important.

  10. Wow, 20 year old making $200,000-$300,000 jobs a year. Up here I bet there are only a hand full of jobs that even come close to that pay scale.

  12. Well in Erie co. all our taxes go to NYC. welfare . There is talk of splitting N.Y into 2 states making Westchester co & NYC its own state . works for me! I said that 30 yrs. ago. I beleive our (rural) end of the state which King Andy refers to us as would be much better off. A local state Rep. is taking a survey to see how many people would be for it. He has my vote.

  13. Tim I gave up on the vests a long time ago and switched over to a multi compartment fanny pack. Fits everything I need and is much easier to work with and much lighter. In the fall I go even lighter with a longbox in a holster and two potcalls in a holster/pouch. I also carry a couple of mouth calls. I've found this to be a much better system for me and my style of hunting.

  14. Here's something that is within driving distance for all Western New Yorkers. There's a place in Angelica called Cartwrights Maple Tree Inn. They specialize in pancakes, eggs, toast, ham, etc., and all that breakfasty stuff with all the home made maple syrup you can stand. They're open til April 14. It's a heck of a drive but we usually make it over there at least once each year (I'm not supposed to have that sugary stuff but once a year won't kill me .... I hope). They get a heck of a crowd, in fact once when we over there a couple of busloads of geezers came in.....lol. It's just something to do to help shake off the cabin fever.

  17. lol. with that logic, we should all pay cash, or just flush it down the drain and rent. When you're first starting out a 30 year mortgage isn't so bad. Most people can't even afford the 20% dp. However, as your income levels rise, pay off the loan quicker. Nothing prevents you from paying off a 30 year mortgage in 15 years. Your rate might not be as great, but @ 3.75, it's not all that bad. But if you sign up for a 15 year and cant pay it off you lose your home. There's a big difference in a mid 20 year old couple and a couple in their late 30's. If we stay in our home (second we've owned now) we fully intend to increase our payments as our income rises. We already pay an additional amount a month to equal an annual extra monthly payment. But most people dont stay in a home for 30 years anymore and dont forget your interest is tax deductible.

  18. Too many people live beyond their means. Nobody should be taking a 30yr mortgage. Cut back on other things and take a 15yr, then pay above your mortgage payment as much as you can. Very easily that mortgage becomes < 10 years. In my opinion, you shouldn't be drinking $5 cups of coffee if you have a 30yr mortgage. Same goes for car payments. Buy a solid used car for $10k if you can't afford to pay cash for one that is $40k. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

  19. There was a time when I was impressed with putting slides up on the big screen, and so for several years every photo I took was processed to slides for my carousel projector. Well that was then and this is now, where digital is the format of choice. I was pretty deep into photography back then and was taking pictures like a crazy man. I have all kinds of pictures from the Adirondacks, and other local scenic locations, and just about everywhere that I went. There are people pictures (friends and relatives), flowers, bugs, camping trips, wildlife, and just about anything that most people take pictures of. But there are so many of them that almost any commercial processing gets to be very expensive. Yesterday I checked with Walmart and the guy said he could do them for around $.28 each which may not really be all that bad if I sort out the ones that I don't care that much about (thanks growalot for the tip). But I still want to see how it works to take a digital picture of the image projected on the screen. I'm looking at all possibilities.

  20. Let's face it people ... we don't ever really own the land and buildings. We just rent that stuff from the government. We pay the rent (taxes). They (the government landlord) tell us what we are going to use the land for and what we are going to have on it and what it is going to look like (zoning). Fall behind on your rent (taxes) and they will evict you. Put up something that is not government approved and they will fine you and make you tear it down. So this idea of land ownership is simply a myth. Where you live and what kinds of services you have and how free-spending your local government and school system is, determines how high your rent (tax) is going to be. Oh, and lucky us, we get to pay off a mortgage on top of that. What a deal!

  24. Do you how many tickets people would get if that were the case? If there were, people would be able to find the RFID transmitter and would blab it all over the internet. There are no secret cameras in TVs, etc. If there were, same deal, you would have people proving it by taking sets apart and pointing them out. As far as audio goes, same thing, they dont need to do it anyway. That snap shot device that Progressive has out there, ties directly into your vehicle, and you do that willingly, and have to sign paperwork, etc. It also transmits nothing, it stores the info and you send it in to them. You only have it for 30 days. Id say your taking things to the extreme, even in the conspiracy theory realm.

  25. Wow...It's ridiculous what they made you go through just to retain your CCW...Glad it worked out for you!!! They are pretty lax up here in Jefferson County, although when I moved back here after a short stay in St. Lawrence County they did look at me like I was from mars...Well after looking at my picture on my permit I guess it was warranted since I did look like I just got out of prison...LOL
