  3. The Turkeys hanging out in my pastures give me a chance to fool around with different calls and see what kinds of reactions they produce. The one that has been getting the best responses is a simple Quaker Boy easy yelper, I guess one calls a push button type. I do not have many Toms hanging around but there are several hens and they and the Tom come looking pronto when I give a few yelps with that call. I have a pile of calls that sound pretty good to my ear but the Easy Yelper has been getting the best responses from the Turkeys around here. I ran one old hen ragged, I had her running around searching in circles trying to find me yakking her butt off the whole time. Al

  5. Two more down. These mice were always hanging out in no shoot spots, so I decided to use nature against nature and strategically placed some pieces of watermelon in those areas so the raccoons would do what they do best and scare them into shoot zones. It worked like a charm.

  13. That's the $2,500 AGM Adder TS35-384 thermal I use as a backup. My primary scope is the Nvis Halo X50, but it's a longer range scope that sucks for close range work, as you can see in this pic I took of the same spot I dropped the Mus with the Adder. There's a plethora of shorter range thermal scopes available for the hunter looking to get into the sport for under $2K. SJC

  14. It's been a slow turkey season for me this year. I passed on a jake , got out flanked by another hunter on a turkey I was working for 2 hours. Not hearing much gobbling either. Last night around 7 pm , I just happened to look out my kitchen window when I saw these love birds. It was pretty cool. Good luck to those who are still trying to fill a tag like me.

  15. I own 4 revolvers a .22, .357, .44 and a .177 bb replica. I love their accuracy and forgiveness. Its a heavy framed revolver so it absorbs alot of the recoil. The hammer is a bit unique as is the cylinder release after you get used to that it's a great revolver. I think @Buckmaster7600 could speak on the semi automatic pistols.

  16. As I mentioned in another thread below I picked a Ruger GP 100 357 revolver, it is a good solid strong reliable gun but just a tad rough. So I went to my customary improvements needed in my mind. Trigger was heavy, on my gauge single action was averaging around 4.8 lbs but nice and crisp, so I sent off for a set of Wilson combat trigger and hammer springs. The stock sights were not good for my old eyes so I purchased a set of Williams fire type sights which I have become a huge fan of, I have installed on all of my open sight firearms. Last but not least the stock Hogue grips I did not care for at all for either looks and feel, so I went with upgraded Ruger target style grips with the rosewood inserts. All the stuff arrived today so I got at it. First thing was to disassemble and stone and polish any moving parts that mated with each other. I then installed both sets of Wilson springs and put the gun back together. Installed the new grips which I like a lot and then put the new sights on, the front one was a pain in the ass and had to be filed down and hand fitted. Got the trigger gauge out and she is now averaging 3,1 lbs, about a pound and a half improvement and also the polished parts made everything nice and slick, overall I am more than pleased. Now hopefully this gun will shoot all those 38 special target loads I did up over the spring and summer. A couple of pics of before and after. Al
