So basically if you live in the NE you are hunting the hardest land in the US and snow sucks, lol. Well I can agree with one part. Was this written by a Floridian?

Taking of young bucks does it really make sense?
NFA-ADK replied to HuntNfish100's topic in Region 5
No one is passing judgement. If you like to shoot for meat or the joy of hunting more power to you. They are just stating that these type of hunters tend to go the extra mile to get a big buck. Much more than the average hunter will. That's all. -
That's because they suck and can barely hit a paper plate at 20! No offense and I am not saying this is you but many of the traditional shooters basically suck. Sorry so blunt but most traditional shooters I have seen are pretty bad shots and 20 yards is like me shooting 75. But I would beat 90% of them at 75 and them at 20 yards. So are they unethical? I guess they should give up bow, lol. NOT! If I went by this post 95% of them would have to quit because they are unethical and wound many deer.

Good luck, looking forward to your pics!!!

We have many farm hunters who shoot out past 60 yards, and they kill many deer. If they can jump a 300fps bow at 30 yards then we should all only shoot out to 20 yards! Not going to happen. If you really want to talk ethics watch some of the traditional shooters, most can barely hit a paper plate at 20 yards. Do they have NO ETHICS? They wound a pile of deer! Maybe we should ban them! 60+ yards is no more unethical than a 30 yard shot that you missed because the deer jumped the string. And is better than most traditional shooters at 20 yards. The ethics pony has left the building. lol not really but some think so because they can't shoot that good so how could someone else? Must just be unethical hunters I guess. Arg.

What? Please look at me when you talk. How did that deer get within 10 yards of me? What? My hearing if fine you just need to talk louder.

You might have to take the course again. But your bow certificate should be valid. If you can renew your license that I believe is proof you took the course, any current license is suppose to be valid in other states as far as I know. Campsite sport shop would have your answers. Safety certificates use to be good for 10 years, if you do not have last years license to renew then I believe you would have to take to course again to get a valid license. You need last years license to get one for this year or a safety certificate that is less than 10 years old. A current hunting license should be proof enough to get you another license in other states, but you would have to check with that particular state.

I have open sights for my model 94 in 44 Mag. Easy to aquire targets and great for close shots. Practice will help ensure a good shot, good luck.

What have you done this year to prepare for the 2015 season?
NFA-ADK replied to burmjohn's topic in General Hunting
Hung about 9 tree stands for my friends and shot thousands of arrows. My ritual seems to be a massive triple decker honey turkey, honey ham and American cheese sandwich with chips and soda. My little slice of heaven when stuck a few miles back in the woods and hunger sets in. This is one of the stands I was hanging from, only about 2 ft off the ground before we camouflage it. My buddy told me that is not how you "hang stands". lol Yes I am the monkey. -
How Many Acres Do Think Is Enough To Hunt On?
NFA-ADK replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
Yea like when your brothers leave the house that is estimated at about 500,000 and say it is now work 2 million at least so I would like 1 million to leave then your 2nd brother wants to do the same and cash out! Lucky for me my 3rd brother was out already! Crazy how money makes people turn. 700 acres is just enough for me to stalk the entire day with some sitting. Tree stand, some of the best spots are on less than 1 acre. I would say 20 acres for bow minimum and 40 minimum for rifle. We have multiple stands on a few properties less than 2 acres, no issue if your shot paths are set with the bow plus we keep in contact when getting off stand. -
ok, I though they were eliminating those first 4 days but apparently you have to use this years tags. Sounds good. Wished Sat was open and I would go up but one day just does not cut it. Glad I am not the only one who thinks sitting in a tree is the most boring way to hunt. I shoot out to 70+ yards but typically I shoot 60 and closer. 40-50 is my woods limit depending on how well my form is but up to 70 would not be out of reach if the deer is not weary or in his bed. The farm hunters I know take shots up to and past 80 and kill a pile of deer. Good luck ADKHunter1590 Hope you get a monster!

It opens the first as far as I know. They eliminated the last 4 days due to change in date. So they open the same time as the south Oct 1st. Unless the DEC changed, last seasons tags are expired. Am I wrong, does anyone have a link on the DEC site that says September 27-30 is open for bow?

Warning!!! Carbon fiber is really bad for you if you breath it in! Be careful and use a respirator or vacuum to remove the airborne fibers!
-
Otis! My Man! Sorry had to say it. That sucks getting your stuff stolen twice but I have to agree something is amiss if you did not report it. What are you growing if I might ask? Does not sound like deer because those guys are serious and would have reported it.

The basic regulation book can be deceptive and vague. I read the book every year but it is funny how many different counties and then individual town regulations that can get a new hunter in big trouble. Ever hunt Westchester with a 30-06? Yep and the state trooper at the road block 2 exits earlier told me "Good Luck!" after I told him about the gun in the back. Arg. I can laugh about it now but if I was caught I would have been in deep!!! How many hunters get a buck only to find out that town does not allow Sunday hunting? Luckily not me but many have told me the story. Now compare that to a loaded firearm while driving and that's another story. What do you mean I can't have a handgun during bow season? Sound familiar? ok guess its time to check the DEC site for this years changes.
