  1. Very nice bow, good luck with it.
  2. I value my hunting license to much to hunt with anyone who brakes the game laws. Most of my hunting is on public land so anything that will jeopardize my hunting would get reported. What would make me drop a dime is proof of an illegal activity. Did I report the guy who let me hunt his property in Roscoe, no, I just never hunted there again. And now all those trophies on his wall do not mean anything to me. Let me see you report a bunch of cops and see how that works for you. I will just keep my mouth shut because I am aware of the ramifications with reporting them. Like the ones who shot deer in Huntington last year with a crossbow. Certain problems are not worth getting involved due to the implications that follow. Real easy to say you should report everything on the internet but real life is not that simple.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0nNiJ6b7X0 Mr.Fiduccia has some great tips and a great DVD.
  4. LI is DRY DRY DRY we really need some rain.
  5. I do the MA MA call by mouth for doe predawn works but can be a one off as they pin point you. I use the cans for doe calls and general communication the most. It seems to be the call that most deer respond to. Primos works for me but you have to us them right not just tilt over and pray, lol. I use the buck calls the least amount. Mainly in response to a grunt is when I use it the most or if I am rattling, even more rare. So many calls on the market, I probably have 10 buck calls. I use the buck roar but it is very rare. My main call is a basic buck grunt with tube and sliding adjuster to make the call sound like a young 2.5. That call and the basic can are my favorites.
  6. Tough hunting state land in the south. Slob hunters that ruin hunts or take stands and cameras can be a big issue. I would make sure the stand is moved so they do not know where you are. I would put it back in the woods enough so I have some shooting lanes to cover the field. I would hunt the primary scrape at that time. Good luck! Congrats on your first deer, that's awesome! Any pics?
  7. 44 Mag in Winchester model 94 heart shot at about 35 yards, year 2000.
  8. Welcome to the forum! I have a savage 110 they are cheap but they shoot great 30-06. A few friends have the browning A-Bolt this is the high end and the gun is basically awesome! I shoot better groups with my savage than they do with the A-Bolt but it is not the gun it is the shooter. Good luck which ever gun you purchase.
  9. Bow is still tuned for the two blade rage so I will probably stick with them as long as they still shoot the same.
  10. In many of the ADK camps I have been to the 30-06 is king in bolt action. Tough to beat that round and action for accuracy and reliability. Plus it is a very flat shooting bullet and can take down any animal in the NE.
  11. I saw one in November one year. Doubt she made it. I feel like in some area's I hunt not even the bucks can find all the doe.
  12. Deaf and blind (No adding dumb in yet so shadup!) is how I feel when they sneak up on me! I am always like WTBuck! Or doe WTD! So much for relying on my keen insight, vision and instinct.
  13. The cadence of a deer is very distinctive to me as I am sure to many others. I try to rely on my hearing but it has been better for me to use my eyes as I get older. Only thing is they are not so good anymore. So I switched about 14 years ago to using calls and trying to talk to deer. Works great in deep woods where deer are not use to hunters but on LI it seems every deer has seen a human use a call and many ignore them or know it is not a deer. Glasses and a hearing aid are not how I wish to hunt but it might be inevitable. And for stalking it would keep me on even ground, or at least I wish it would.
  14. I only upgraded to be familiar with it as I have to support it. The new browser is not compatible with many web sites and you usually have to revert back to using IE which is still in Windows 10. Some programs or should I say apps depening on your upgrade will not work in windows 10 or have glitches. So far windows 7 is the new XP replacment. If you are looking to upgrade from Vista you probably need a new computer NOT an upgrade.
  15. Yes I have installed it. I recommend not upgrading at this time. You will probably not find anything better in 10 than what you have.
  16. Happy Birthday!!! Have a great day, it is beautiful outside today!!!
  17. Done and done. Good luck. Nice pics!
  18. Tough to beat a bolt action for accuracy and reliability.
  19. My passion has only grown over the years. I am on this site, looking up deer data or watching a deer video or actual deer every day but I am not addicted. I can quit any time. They are an amazingly adaptable animal with excellent survival instincts. The antlers just seem to exemplify the mystic and drive our hearts to skip a beat.
  20. Looks like you found a good game trail. Perfect spot for the animals to be far enough away from the road to hear approaching danger and smell with less pollution. Good luck with it, sounds like a great spot.
  21. Pathetic brute in farm country with plenty of food available that is rich in sustenance. Very nice 2.5 Typical 3.5 that made it through last winter ok amazingly. Or a 4.5 that had a rough winter. Take your pick. I would pick the brown spot behind the shoulder. 3.5 Nice buck Chief! Do us all a favor and get him so we can see the results! Good luck he is a beauty!
