I would try to wait. If you do go in try to do under wet conditions for stealth. Otherwise its risky, wind would have to be in your favor. Next time your out and you think he is close try calling him in. I would start with a doe in heat sequence if after 25 min no response try a deep buck grunt or two and give it another 25 min.

I am hearing good reports of movement on LI! Take a brake but get ready for some action because as far as I am concerned the rut has just started on LI. These next few days should be interesting! Think a sick day is in order! My buddy has been hunting hard and its his first year and he was getting depressed over no sightings with plenty of sign. Today he had a bunch of action even though some of it was in the dark, lol. If you are hunting up north based on your location I would think next week it should start. I would take it easy this weekend and plan EVERYTHING for the following week. By easy I don't mean do not hunt just not all day, go early and late and try to scout for the following week. Sometimes you get lucky doing this prep/scouting, good luck and keep at it!!!

I like the satellite images on the phone but shut off the ringer and do not usually text while hunting. I find looking at the phone messes my long distance vision so I try not to use it while hunting. Up north in the ADK radio is the only option as their is no cell service.

Time to take up coyote hunting.

Makes me laugh when some giant like this is taken and then someone has to complain about the picture, the war paint or what ever. It's a beast of a deer no matter how the picture is taken as long as it was legal and ethical who cares HOW the pictures are taken. Like to NYAntler and Phade!

I have a area that doe are off limits until after the rut, for us its 2nd or third week in November, after that is open season. Public land I target bucks and will take any doe in range that presents a good shot on LI.
