  1. thanks for the link and the help! Now I just need to get to the club and start shooting and checking out my bow set up. I'll post info asap.
  2. Several arrows, also on Saturday there was a cross wind, but i don't think that caused it? Arrow specs? Bow is 65 lbs. gold tip 5575 arrows 28" blazer vanes.
  3. what is a walk back tune? I've never tuned my own bow so this stuff is a little new to me. As for form I think I'm good, I always shot a biscuit and I noticed an occasional wandering arrow which I'm sure was me. But this bow has a drop away rest.
  4. I just picked up a 2013 Elite Hunter and had it set up for me. (included timing, center shot and paper tuning) I was sighting in my new sites and I couldn't help but notice the the arrows were flying with what looked like a tail spin or corkscrewing. They seemed to be consistent and I was able to site in at 20 yds. but I am concerned that the arrow flight with broadheads will be terrible. I know that the arrows are not hitting the drop away rest as the shop checked that out. Any suggestions?
  5. I don't know what works or doesn't but i will spend every last chance I can in the turkey woods trying every thing i can think of to find as a good friend once told me ( RIP Bill) "the one that wants to die"
  6. Diito.. Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers.
  7. Had 1 gobbling this morning, flew down with hens and walked off by 6:45, didn't hear any after that and I stayed till noon. (9f)
  8. Does any one know what is the thread size for the stabilizer on an Elite Hunter? I made myself a bow sling and I don't have a stabilizer so I need to use a small bolt and washer, but I can't seem to match the threads.
  9. Thanks for the input but I sold the bow and bought a 2013 Elite Hunter w/ new winners choice stings and cables. Just need to install a sight and I'm ready to shoot.
  10. I've been experiencing the same, only heard gobbling on wednesday am and I 've been out 5 days already. I certainly hope it will get better.
  11. not sure I don't want to stay up late as I want to hunt in the AM.

    double!

nice job, I better come down soon before you start charging for the guide service!LOL
  14. Hearing them from the roost is always cool and they seem to gobble more from the roost but you can hunt them till noon so have at it. You will have to do more run and gun unless you already know when they like to head. I'm ready to go right now .. even though I'm sitting on my couch LOL.
  15. Got some breasts in the freezer, think I might try the bacon smoker recipe.
  16. Nice job! always better than work...
  17. took a walk this afternoon in Aleghany/Randolf area flushed 1 hen from a nest, and had 1 gobble to crows, going through my gear now, hope to be there on Thursday AM !!
  18. Congrats!! better this year w/o snow? Did you hear many birds?
  19. I would, it would be good to hear from someone with their experience and possibly become friends.
  20. 9F, Went out Friday morning 1gobbler w/ 3hens and 1 jake. Sunday morning saw 1 nice gobbler w/ 6 hens, and 2 jakes. Both days gobbling from the roost, followed by shock gobbles from geese and crows passing by. I don't call to them, only observe, I like to try to pattern them not educate them. G-Man any youth hunters last weekend?
  21. I think I have the same bag, is the inside lined w/ blue jell packs? I throw mine in the freezer, add 6 beers and throw it in my hockey bag. works great.
  22. since you are bow hunting then I assume the best way to go would be set out your decoys and sit in a blind and just wait. Don't over call, keep alert, a satellite gobbler may sneak in quiet. Good Luck
  23. keep listening you should notice the difference once they hit the ground. Be patient if there are other hunters on the neighboring property they might bump the birds and send them your way. You can always just wait them out, if they hear your calls, they might come looking later in the morning once the hens start going to nest. Although with the weather we've been having the nesting probably won't start for a few more weeks.
  24. I am looking to sell my 2009 GT 500 bow, it has 70lb. limbs, 29" draw, comes with a Fuse "biscuit" full capture rest, Alpine Archery Soft Lock detachable 5 arrow quiver, Tru-glo Range Rover single pin adjustable site, zero peep, and a Limb saver 5" stabilizer. I have shot through a chronograph @291 fps with 410 gr. arrows. This is a great shooting bow! I Asking $400.00 TYD. PM me with any questions or interest.
