  1. Man that right there takes away from the beauty of that box blind...lol...rip that eyesore down and plant a few pine trees on eitherside and in a few years you will have a natural more eye appealing stand...lol..That box blind is sweet, good luck this year.
  2. Came out great, i cant make enough of this stuff. Between my 4 kids and family, that batch didn't last a week.
  3. Down to the wire, this past weekend i gave all my plots their final cut for the year, trimmed some lanes , set out a couple cams, overseeded some plots with broccoli rabe and shot the bow. Im ready!!!!
  4. But to be honest i usually just walk in and use the UTV to take game out.
  5. Last year i drove my UTV up my mountain, parked it 50 yards from my stand. Walked to the stand and as put my foot on the first rung of the ladder stand i turn around and there is a big doe below me about 100 yards. Shot her got the UTV and took her out. Fastest hunt ever. If they are use to machines it really doesnt bother them, if you get too close with the machine they may run off a bit, but will usually stop to look back.
  6. That might change one day when you start hatching out little Biz's. My wife has zero interest walking in the woods, but my kids love it. She loves the deer meat, but wants no part of the woods, she'd rather sit on the patio with a glass of wine...lol... but she loves the fact our kids enjoy the outdoors .
  7. Once those 10-15 trips are over what are you left with? Mounts, a huge taxidermy bill etc....What equity do you have remaining after 10 -15 trips? To me 10-15 trips is lost equity with no return. Ive had my property for 7 years, i can flip it today and make a sizable return on my money. Heck, i was offered 30k above what i paid the day i signed my contract. Guess that guy was a couple weeks late and wanted the land bad...Like the old saying. " God aint making anymore land". For the most part you cant go wrong with realestate i.e..vacant land, house with land etc...at the least you should be able to make your money back. For me having land is about enjoying it year round with my family, i could care less about traveling abroad to kill animals. To each their own.
  8. Too much to list, but one recent enhancement is i had a guy come in with a dozer and made a road up my property (road goes straight up the mountain and then was connected to an existing road that runs through entire center of property) so that i can access the higher elevations. That road ultimately enabled me to get my tractor up the mountain and has lead to 3 more food plots in areas that are much more secluded and in very close proximity to my sanctuary. With that one road i can now access all points of my property.
  9. Nice bucks, but are they crossing that creek during daylight hours?
  10. Putting in a plot is no slam dunk to getting a deer, but it definitely ups your odds. Great job. Hope to see your daughter in a pic. with a deer down. Best of luck!!
  11. You my friend are not playing with a full deck...lol
  12. Makes total sense, enjoy!!
  13. Man with a view like that what the hell you doing inside, id be out hiking about in that beauty.
  14. Great looking shotgun and a great gauge. Enjoy !! I have a 410 myself, single shot Ithaca.
  15. Im not sure yet if im ready to part with them, but im close by you and have a 2 bottom plow and a disc. Both are heavy duty, older and more stout then the stuff they sell today. If your interested let me know and i might consider selling them. Would have to take both because i have no use for one with out the other.
  16. Good thing i read through all your posts because before reading this one i was going to suggest that you go to agway in Stamford and speak with them. They will steer you right and have lots of seed variety, lime and fertilizer. Im in harpersfield, and thats where i go for all my plot essentials. They will also deliver lime by the truckload based upon your soil tests. They also do soil tests as well.
  17. Very possible its the same deer. One year I had a buck pass my plot that had a small palmated rack on both sides and had a long muzzle (very identifiable features). I posted the story here a couple years ago. At that time the buck was 1 1/2 year old. That was the only picture i ever had of that buck, he was taken off a neighboring property 5 years later at 6 1/2 years old. They called him the moose buck and he was featured in that years DEC regulation book. These deer have an amazing resilience to survive and reappear many years later. He almost made it to live another year but was killed in the late season with a ML.
  18. Venison Jerky, sat in brine overnight, then used slight brush of sweet baby rays. Now in the smoker, using hickory wood.
  19. 150lbs. to seed 2 1/2 acres is very excessive. My vote is for white Ladino clover.
  20. Trust me if you have the money it helps. Walking around NYC its common to see 60yr. Old men holding hands with 20-30 year old woman, trust me it aint the mans looks thats getting those woman. Makes me laugh...Whats the saying.." money talks and bull$hit walks"....For now I'll have to rely on my good looks...lol
  21. Its all good, keeps us young and active. I wouldnt change a thing about my hectic life. Theres always the alternative. My moto "There will come a time when we will have plenty time to rest".
