  1. Or you can just figure that an ear is 6" long and estimate the measurements from that with not need of complex math.
  2. and if hung, keep it out of direct sunlight. The hide is like a greenhouse.
  3. 5 counting my current compound and the recurve warf.
  4. Hope I didn't sound like I was criticizing anyone. I was speaking about getting the best accuracy out of any compound, New or old. I always read and been told that it's best to have one that is designed with it's max at or near the poundage you want to shoot.
  5. Good way to do it is you want the flexibility
  6. I have always heard that it is best to run a bow at its peak. If you will shoot 60 then buy 60. Don’t buy a 70 and shoot at 55. For what it’s worth
  7. And have every person you know sign a lease so you can invite them as a guest....Yeah...think not. No one is signing to be on there as a guest because then they would be liable for the lease value. .
  8. My heart breaks for you and your family. Lost mine 3 years ago and not a day will go by that you don't think of him. But after all, that tells you how special he is to you. Prayers to you and yours.
  9. STYLE!!! LOL. If you are gonna miss, I say look good doing it.
  10. Without a doubt your bow and the high enders will get the job done. A Volkswagen beetle and a Ferrari will both get you to the grocery store as well. I've never had the ability to shoot the distances I do consistently until I stepped up and got the Hoyt Carbon Element when they first came out. I had the money and shot it and it just fit. I was shooting a buddy's and with his release I was in the vitals at 40 yards consistently. And it wasn't even set up for me. The balance was amazing before during and after the shot. Open handed and it still sat on my bow hand
  11. $235 for muzzleloading or Bowhunting
  12. I would wire brush and grease the inside. paint inside is a waste because it will never hold up.....unless you don't put a hitch in it...lol
  13. I just want to caution anyone that is considering it. I am not even going to comment on whether it is good or worth it. I will say to read the fine print on the warranty of the coating. Many need annual inspections and resprays for disturbed areas and if you miss one the warranty is void. And they charge annually for the inspection and touch up.
  14. I know it's kind of a waste to post this on here since everyone is a hunter. I was kind of hoping that if any of you knew someone that wanted to get into it but they were near us and not near enough for you to do it yourselves, you could point them our way.
  15. Thanks Guys, We hope it will work out. They have done it a few other spots in the country but our Branch and Upper Hudson Branch are trying it as a pilot program in NY. I hope it takes.
  16. We will be basically taking them so some of our members properties. So it will be private and controlled. Many of the members have restrictions they use on themselves but they all are waiving them for the participants. What I would really love to have is a contact where I could get them out on nuisance permits so the success rate would be higher, less pressure and nicer weather.
  17. And then when those crappy drivers pile up and lose their lives the family will be looking for someone to sue.
  18. On August 25th the branch in conjunction with Cornell Cooperative Extension will have a table at the Rochester Public Market 9 am to 1 pm. This will be our kick off of the Field to Fork program that will be trying to identify individuals that are looking for nutritional food that they have taken, processed, and cooked themselves. Hunting can seem like an enormous undertaking when you have never been exposed to it before. That is where this program comes in. We are looking for 12 adults to sign up that have never hunted before. We will be holding a few evening classes to teach ethics, deer biology, the hunting tradition and more (September 11th and 25th from 7pm-9pm+/-), conducting range practice with choice of rifle or crossbow Date to be determined base on participants schedules), providing the NYS Hunter Education course (Dedicated course for participants on September 22nd), taking the participants out on mentored deer hunts and if successful, teaching them how to process and cook this antibiotic and hormone free, free range nutritional protein. Everything needed to participate in this program will be provided and there will be venison dishes to enjoy at each of the gatherings during this program. Each participant will need to commit to the schedule and must attend all portions of the program to participate in the hunts. They will also need boots and appropriate clothing for warmth (Camo not required). Each participant will have to provide a $50 deposit that will be refunded if they complete all the components of he program. All firearms, Ammo license fees, QDMA 1 year membership etc. will be provided by the branch. Please pass this along to anyone that may be interested and stop out to see us on August 25 to sign up. There will be snack sticks and jerky there to sample.
  19. I must be missing something. I don't get the exclusion of a traditional tent becasue of ground sleeping. There are SO many options for far less money to sleep in a traditional tent comfortably and be off the ground. It would appear to me that this tent must be hard bottomed and unless you will sleep on that you still need to solve the the sleeping issue. With the loss of use of your vehicle this seems like a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
  20. I will tell you that my best friend had a Vortex for 2 weeks. dropped the gun and broke the crosshairs and dented the tube. They sent the replacement with just a picture even before they received his back. So what is written and how they apply it can be very different. I had a Leupold that had to go in and that didn't happen. They did take care of it but it was done once they got mine.
  21. The BS isn’t the actual statement, it’s the undertone. Anyone who has read your comments on Vortex will know exactly what I mean.
  22. Oh they used science. Just didn’t get results that fit into you preconceived narrative
