  1. Sorry to say my neighbor passed today. After surviving a stroke and having his hand amputated his heart gave out. I know Ted is hunting up in heaven. Your camp is in good hands and this season will be dedicated to him. Rest in peace my friend……..
  2. Worked at a mini golf my brother in law owned. I was 14 at the time. They had an arcade also so he paid me in quarters and I would go right back in and spend all my money on the machines! SOB…..lol
  3. Wooly you on my land? Those are all our misses, you know we can't shoot worth a damn at bow season! lol
  4. Thinking back at the age of 16 I got my first deer. It was a spike horn. I shot him, gutted him, drugged him out, ate him and had him mounted. All by myself (I shared some meat) This was 36 years ago. He hangs among the giants at my camp and will always be my most special mount. (BTW he spent 4 years ay college with me in the off campus living. How he survived I don't know or….remember!)
  5. We left two bucks upstate to be mounted. They cost $500 per mount. One of the guys brought his down to the Island and paid the same price. Was your son's mount in the same price range?
  6. Always great to have your first one mounted. Your boy must be so excite to have it!
  7. That's one thing, down here on the island there are these red light cameras every where. I slam on the breaks when I see a yellow light. 75$ fine and a $35 surcharge. I hate those damn cameras.
  8. I'm a big believer in this and have been all my life. It will come back to you in spades. There also is no other great feeling then helping someone out. It happened to me with the camp I bought this year adjacent to my property. Pay it forward!!
  9. Found bear tracks last weekend at my camp. They are moving about….
  10. Wooly made it from the lining of the stomach from that yote he shot! lol
  11. Very nice, my birthday is in april…..get cracking!
  12. Here is a picture of the seedling White Spruce we planted. This was back in 2007. I took this picture over the weekend, same trees just 8 years later. Bought from saratoga nursery.
  13. Here is a picture taken over the weekend in Cortland. This buck was chasing the doe for some time. Still has headgear!!!
  14. I don't know yet. I'll decide in the spring what to do. Probably donate to needy families.
  15. While at the cabin this weekend we watched a video I produced back in 1996. I started filming hunts in the early 90's and put this film together with the first version of final cut pro. The video ended up being 1.5 hrs. It took a really long time to produce and I'm proud of the work. The first part has crunching leaves from a deer and the sound of a humans heartbeat getting faster and faster. I took a video last night with my IPhone of the Introduction. A little piece of history for me something new for you…... IMG_0236 22.mov
  16. Just got back from the cabin. Had a really nice weekend with my Brother-in-law. We cleaned the cabin, posted the new land and checked out the contents of the single wide that was on the new property. You could imagine what is i this place. It has been a camp for my neighbors for about 30 years. There are all sorts of things too much to list. I want them to come back and take some of the keep-sakes but I don't know if they will make it. Posting of the property went well although I could not find my roll of posted signs. We did look in the trailer on the new property and found a whole bunch of the red plastic ones! Saw some deer tracks, not as many as I would like and a bear track. All is good in Howard can't wait to get back!!!! Here are some picts from the weekend!
  17. Doc you are so right. The Old-Timers tell me you go through a phase trying everything. I'm past that now and just munch on a few things here and there. Can quickly put the lost weight back on you from being so active!
  18. Looking forward to that this weekend, enjoy your peace!
  19. Yes Pepperidge Farm snack rout. Spent 25 years in the publishing bushiness at Time Inc. They had enough of me last year and let me go. Wanted to do something completely different and have more time with my kids. Brother has a Stella dora route and Brother inlaw has a Martins bread rout. So its in the family….lol
  20. Since I started my new business its been tough to get away. I'm sneaking out between a Milano and Goldfish sale this week and will have someone covering my stores. It was tough the first six months worrying about every little detail but now I feel good about the change in my life. Last 25 years left the house at 7 came home at 8 spent 3.5 hours commuting. Now leave the house at 5 home at 2. Life is good owning my own business. The time spent with my girls in the afternoon is priceless. Yes we don't have so much time spent at the cabin but it pays off being around all the time when they need you………..
  21. I have a Wheaten Terrier with a real sensitive stomach. The only thing he gets is zero grain dog food. Some raw meat and cheese at times. The zero grain diet really keeps him fit.
  22. Defrosting some tenderloin medallions that will be pan fried in butter with onions. They will be placed on some Jewish Rye bread with Swiss cheese. Yummmm!
