It depends on preference and what your gun wants, I use 150 grains of 777 with great results out of my Triumph, Especially on shoulder shots. The bullets expand rapidly and drop the deer in there tracks. They hold together rather well also. I shot a doe facing me the other day just above her brisket. The bullet went through arked upward hit the spine clipped every rib off on one side and logged under her skin just short of the back legs and was in pretty good shape still. I shot a buck first day at 70yrds that it went through both sides, double lung, and left a nice hole. Buck went down quickly. I think they are just as accurate as any other sabot out there.

Sweet what vineyard are you from? Did a tour of the cayuga and Seneca vineyards this yr and had a blast.

I don't see why they need permits. We have to pay out the arse for the tags and they get them for free and eradicate a natural resource that belongs to all NYers. I don't see how that is fair at all. Make them pay for the permits to or open up there land to hunters.

Sounds like we should have a say in this since we the tax payers pretty much keep most of the farms in NY open with Government hand outs. Let hunters hunt during the season or screw them, let em close down.

They cover there butts by putting up notices that its not for consumption by wildlife but for agricultural use. Its not illegal to sell just illegal to use for hunting.

got a doe today to with the front stuffer. I got home from work and headed out. I walked 50 yrds into the woods and there they were just standing there looking at me. picked one out and dropped it. wasn't in the woods 15 min.

Hitting a deer and killing a deer are 2 different things. I think if you shoot a deer through the heart, lungs or liver and it runs 30 yrds and somone else shoots it and it drops its the first fatal hit that gets the deer. But if you gut shoot the deer or shoot a leg off or hamshoot them or anything that is not going to kill that deer in seconds or minutes then that deer is still in play as far as im concerned and I reserve the right to keep the deer if I so wish. I have no moral obligation to reward a bad shot and would not be upset at them for taking the deer if it was the other way around. I would be more upset with myself for some shody shooting skills. And as far as liver hits go, I have never had a deer go more than 100 yrds with a bullet to the liver, especially a slug, They bleed out fast. Now an arrow to the liver is another thing. Good to give them a few hrs with and arrow.

Not sure how a 9 yr old could survive being shot in the stomach with a rifle or slug? Let alone walk out of the woods on his own. One tough little kid.

Sounds like you just zingged him low especially since the slug wasn't deformed. Happens alot out of treestands. Ive done it three times twice on the ground with a gun and once this yr out of my treestand with a bow. Everytime there has been alot of white hair and very little in the way of blood usually just a few drops every few ft. Did you find what looked like pcs of fat or pulverized skin? If you had hit him higher it would have all been brown hair. Well atleast you can get him next yr if someone doesnt get him with the muzzleoader.

You would think they would be out in force trying to nail people when they need money. The police come out of the woodwork and donut shops when the city is low on money, to write tickets for minor infractions. I can only surmise that the State of NY is intentionally destroying the DEC for some reason. I wonder if it has to do with the Fracking issue. Gross!!! What a Franken Buck!! I would have had to get a new tag. Could you imagine cooking up some tender loins and thinking back to what that deer looked like. I know my wife and daughter wouldn't have touched it.

Wow nice!! Hope to run into something like that this week for muzzleloader. I have been saving a 200 acre plot just for muzzloader so will have to see who's been hiding there since gun started.

I live about 15 min south of Binghamton on the PA border and am use to my peace and quiet. I got to listen to all the drilling going on over the border all summer. Its like an annoying hum that doesn't go away,it almost sounds like someone baleing hay in the distance. And whats up with all the Helocopters slinging things to the site, they cant use trucks? It would be alot quieter. The noise pollution is worse than the water pollution.

What kind of T/C? If it has a load in it , and the Gun has a breech plug, and it hasn't been cleaned in 3 yrs good luck removing the breech plug unless you loaded the plug up with grease. Also Black powder is extremely corrosive where ever it touched metal and sat for 3 yrs could be ruined. If gun has a breech plug, try to remove and use your ram rod to clear out the barrel. If its an old caplock and you have had a load of goex black powder in it for 3 yrs your probably screwed and the barrel is ruined. Black powder is nasty. My friend left a load in his caplock for a yr and the powder killed the gun, the barrel was nothing but rust. Expensive lesson in front stuffer school.

We use to have a cottage on Murry Isle. till it burned down a few yrs ago. never ice fished there though. I have had good luck in late may for perch.
