I hope this fire gets put out soon cause it's only half a mile to a mile from where I hunt. I had no clue that there was a rattle snake refuge there though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do turkeys peck holes in the ground?
ATbuckhunter replied to NYhuntingdogs's topic in Turkey Hunting
It could possible be where the guy put his blind or decoys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I pluck them but sometimes I'll skin them if I'm really lazy. Just like jjb, I feel bad to leave all of that meat with the bird. My favorite part is also the legs so breasting is a no go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I should say a dumb statement but I don't believe it has any value. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Mmkay- saying that immigrants are displacing "native" American born people is such a dumb statement. The way I see it is that the American work ethic is way down and companies realize that immigrants have no problem working to the bone. I also see them taking jobs that many "Americans" would deem as beneath them but then complain that they have no job. Only thing I can say to people that complain about immigrants taking their job is to step it up and make your salary worth it to your company. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Looking forward to the pics tomorrow WNY!

I was thinking this as I was typing it out. I personally walk down the middle of trails so my boots rarely come into contact with small twigs. I also have a lot of mud where I hunt so my boots usually get a generous coating of free scent away. Although I think they'll cut your tracks wearing rubber boots as well.

Good luck out there! Ill hopefully be out on Sunday to try my luck.

Doc- I agree with everything you said! Predator control is important AFTER you have good habitat and herd management. I suggest that people look up growing deer TV. That guy is an amazing wildlife biologist and took a tract if unproductive land and made it into a trophy property. Some very useful tips from that man if you take the time to watch him. I only tried on rubber boots one time and they had a pretty similar fit to my laced up boots. I guess under armor makes a little better fit to me. In the end I decided not to get it since I really have to need for a pair. The way I see it is that the bottom of my leather boot is rubber anyway so there really isn't a point to get a whole boot in rubber when only the bottom comes in to contact with the ground. I also have zero need for un insulated or low insulated boots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DEC Site Down Not able to get Fishing License
ATbuckhunter replied to 88GW's topic in General Chit Chat
Happened a bunch of times during deer season. Seems like the new tags are creating a lot of problems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I think what most people don't understand is that habitat is one of the most important things to improving game populations and quality. Predators do play a significant role but are not the end all be all like some would think. If most people put the same amount of energy in habitat improvement then they do predator control, we'd have quite a few more game species running around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Last Year's Clover SeedI
ATbuckhunter replied to Pygmy's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
You'll have no problem planting those seeds. You may have to seed at a slightly higher rate because some may not germinate, but other then that its fine. -
No doubt in my mind that we're going to see a whole lot more of these guys in the coming years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Congrats! Can't beat those memories. Now the only thing better would be if you had a kid in the pic with you. That way you could have 3 generations of hunting. Congrats again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There's no doubt in my mind that these guys knew the property was vein leased or at least maintained but they probably didn't expect to see anyone. It seems to me that they have probably been hunting there for years and planed on continuing that. Hopefully they will stay clear now that they have seen an actual presence there. I would say its never wise to walk into the woods with out some kind of firearm as protection unless in archery season. Did they seem to understand what you were saying or did you get the feeling they were blowing you off?
