So I’m looking At Colorado’s and Tacoma’s . My first thought with knowing nothing was just get the Toyota, but the Colorado I’ve looked at seem pretty nice too , Ive got a line on a ‘17 ZR1 with 3 k miles and I’ll save about 7 k over an 18 .the year older doesn’t bother me as I keep cars ten plus years . Now I don’t know the Tacoma models other then what I can find online. Simmons Rockwell has ‘ 18s with 12-15 k miles for 28k , but they’re SR models, is that the basic ? We plan on towing a 4 - 4.5k weight trailer ( that’s loaded weight ) both will do that but the ZR1 has better rear shocks and other features we like , and no I don’t want full sized. Any info on the SR model is appreciated, might save us a long drive to Horseheads . Thanks Larry

Ya that was messed up. I can’t delete a photo without being asked once or twice if I’m sure ? But a missile attack ,one guy can send it with no fail safe .

I collect yardsticks and fingernail clippings of famous people ...... JK Go to the gym most days, boat , used to waterski a lot, enjoy shooting on my range , I’m kinda into knives, but been unloading many and not buying new ones . Thinking about carving Opinal knife handles, and making ones from antlers . May buy an RV Monday .... it’s a small used one that has the rare features we’re looking for as well.

This will be good .

Distances you've killed deer with ? Archery that is
Nomad replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Bow Hunting
First year , I killed a BB at eight yards , in the thirty years since, my farthest shot was twenty five yards . Most were around 15ish . that first year tree was luck, turns out one can kill a deer every year from that tree, I just randomly picked it. Plus my hard woods is 225 yards wide, not hard to pick a tree where a deer will pass within 40 yards ( 20 each side of tree ) . They tend to run just inside the edges, or diagonal and cross in an X in the center . Three stands and I could cover 90% of the movement . -
I actually think that’s a good idea . Good thing it’s not going to be like 8am Oct 1st !!! My Dept. had a call back system, in case of the need to recall off duty FF. It was simply 911 or any remaining staffed firehouse calling the off groups to come in . It may have been fine when everyone had home phones and folks always answered them . With cell phones I could never reach a guy after 10 or 11,to come in if one guy got sick or injured ,the phones were on silent or charging downstairs . A way to override the silent and a special ring would be nice .

Might do,well for stand hunters . n addition, Apple said the Series 4 Apple Watch will also be able to detect when someone falls — and can tell the difference between a trip and a fall. If it detects a fall and the user doesn’t respond in a minute, it’ll automatically call for help. This feature may be especially attractive to older people or those with elderly parents worried about falling when no one is around to help.

I know, I’m the last person that should correct spelling or grammar ! It didn’t really come out as pleasant as I wanted . Ive seen it spelled all kinds of ways and seldom capitalized, really just wanted to share, that it is the name of a dentist who popularized the knot, while he was president of some mountaineering club . Now I’m sure nobody will capitalize it, that’s what I would do ......

This is the first buck I ever killed, came into some Tinks on cotton balls in a film canister ( young folks can google that .) Nose to,the ground walked into a winter wheat field in broad daylight . Was greeted with a slug out of a bird barrel . After that I must have dumped gallons of Tinks in the woods, without repeating that results. Havent used any pee in many years now.

https://www.dynamicrescue.com/blogs/news/13262417-ask-a-pro-what-is-suspension-trauma-aka-harness-hang-syndrome I carry a relief strap, the ones that come with the harness provided with new stands . If you want to get down rather then hang and wait , you can also carry a closed loop and tie it onto your safety line ( Prusik knot ) at a point low enough to place your foot in and stand . By doing this you can then lower upper Prusik , hang from that , lower the foot one and keep inch worming down . I also recommend hanging from a harness, to see how far you actually hang ,what it feels like, how it restricts your movement and so on. Do it from a low height , and if your harness has break away loops, bypass that by using a rope . The first time I practiced hanging ( cheap harness btw ) , I discovered I had tied the leg straps wrong, and they came right out of the buckles..... If you’re in a tree with steps or sticks , if you walk your feet up the trunk a bit you should be able to move around the trunk to a point you can reach them . You’ll fall off the right ,left or front of stand it should be easy to reach them on most trees, you climber guys have a bit more to deal with . I have only ladders up now and only tie in once on the platform, I’m thinking of rigging something for the transition from ladder to,platform though . I use a Muddy harness . Nice to see Belo here again ! and for the record it’s Prusik , it’s the guys last name .

Which hunting weapon and season do you like the best ?
Nomad replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
Bow / deer . Speaking of wool, Ive been looking at Filson, Pendleton and Woolrich , for a shirt jac. Any thoughts ? -
Blasphemy ! Im not really sure exactly what that means , but it seemed appropriate. Those are valid points , something to consider . I’ve never shot a compound other then the two I’ve owned .
-
So my first shot was spot on, then I got some flyers, followed by two arrows that missed the Block !!! That happens once or twice a year as the bow has a very narrow valley, and once in awhile my arm creeps forward just prior to punching the trigger , but twice out of a dozen arrows is not good . Took a break, got my stuff ready for tomorrow,my final work on the stands , went back shot these four . Concentration is the key .

Just a bit ago, just shy of 25 yards. Went down hill from there....

Was wondering when( if) this post would appear, thank you . I’ll never forget, today I’ll wear a FDNY memorial shirt, that only gets worn one day a year ,tonight I’ll watch the History channel as they play 102 Minutes that changed America , like I do every year . My wife will grumble that I watch it every year, and I’ll bite my tongue.

Once they hear from their attorney and insurance man it’s over . They both may very well know about the general obligation law, but they’ve convinced him that things can still happen , it’s no skin off his nose to keep hunters off .
