  1. X2. Why in the world would you bring a subject like that on a hunting website?.
  2. No because I cannot draw any of my bows,Bad back and pulled tendon. But getting the area ready though. All of the small food plots growing good,Ladder stand is secure.,pop up blind is still there.Been doing a little bit of clearing every day.And the trail cameras are out.
  3. Difference between a climber and ladder stand.when I was younger I used climber stands I would have deer walk right past or under me,Most of the time 20' up'. Now I use ladder stands, only hunt my own property and the are up there all year long. The deer think they are just part of the trees.Same with My pop up blinds, which I had them bedded 8' away. And they are faded from wood pattern camo to a reddish color camo..
  4. Get it a boy or girl friend it might come out.And wan't to play.
  5. Been hanging them for 50+ years, long bows, recurves unstrung. And compounds all hung on racks with 2 wooden pegs,1/2 the length of the bow.Never had a warped or bent bow.Doc's set up is a good one also.
  6. Lady you come up with some good ones.
  7. IMR 4895 I used quite a few 1 pound cans of that threw the years. What a lot of people do not know is that some of the factory loads are hotter then some suggested for that round in some of the reloading books.
  8. Well a couple of years on the rout 87 in Hudson Valley. There were pictures of either an Elk or Moose hit and killed on that highway,I forgot which it was.And another case where a bunch 5 or more escaped from a private preserve here in the Catskills. Some were rescued and I think 1 or 2 had to be put down.
  9. One thing I have noticed is that there a lot more adds the last few years, for AR hunting type firearms and parts for them in the predator hunting magazines, also remember there are a lot of GI's returning from over seas that have been trained with them as there primary firearm.Heck I even know a long time benchrest shooter and custom bolt action receiver producer, that liked them enough to start making his own version of one.A good friend of mine and a very good gunsmith,RIP cancer got the best of him,Helped in the the prototype 22 caliber version of the Thompson Sub Machine gun.We were at there range and shot the 22 with both the stick and drum Mag's. at full auto also the 45 Cal. version at full auto.It was fun but I never had a need for one where I hunt.To each his or her own.
  10. Just did a small plot in a wooded area cleared a little to let some light in 2 weeks ago, a good amount of lime and 15 -15 - 15 the WR is up about 4 inched already.
  11. Coffee went up $1.00 since last week for the one in the blue plastic container.
  12. Quote.(So it was the guns fault.) I never said that.A gun is like a computer it will only do what the person working it makes it do..
  13. This reminds me of one year a fellow on the neighboring property allowed his son to let his friends come and hunt on there property 4 of them with semi auto rifles,on a 2 acre piece of property.Well opening day about 8:00 am 9 rapid shots came from that property. An hour later the son comes to our friends property and asks if anyone of us had a doe permit the could have, which we did not that year.We went to look at the deer,it had 2 bullet holes in it,1 threw the right knee and 1 threw the nose. Some one had slit its neck to put it down.Needless to say the son and his friends were not alowed to hunt there any more.
  14. Many years ago on the eastern part of Long Island there was a problem with packs of wild dogs( at one time someones puppy) which destroyed there new rug or furniture and were dropped off in the woods. The were killing to stay alive. You were allowed to dispatche them if seen killing domestic animals. But now in the DEC hunting guide you are Not allowed to shoot a dog during hunting season even if chasing a deer.
  15. Most GPS devices are 10 percent + or - to being right on read the book that comes with them.
  16. Just relax an do as Dr. said,Don't push it.On the bright side there is rifle or shot gun season.I spent 2-1/2 in the hospitle with a compound fracture of the ankle,Blew it apart into 7 pieces,5 pins and 4 screws.Staff infection on top of that, getting the cast changed every 3 days. That was 3 months before rifle season. My buddies took me hunting would drop me off with a lawn chair and blankets.and a walkey talkey. No doe permit Just seeing the deer running threw the fields helped eased the pain.
  17. Call the Stste Police at least you will have it in there records.I seem to remember years ago one of the farmers had a problem like that and he put up wire around the hole parimiter of his property but he was advised to put orange or yellow 2" X 6" pieces of plastic every 4' apart on the wire.(A snowmobiler lost his head on an un marked fence). He did it and you could see the ATV tire tracks almost up to the wire and they turned around.
  18. I have one of the new ones 1 gallon, that I use for my chain saw.I think it works pretty good,No spilled gas,No un screwing caps,Just put in the gas tank and push down .I have it over a year,I bought it in a small equip. repair shop.
  19. Just planted another small piece with winter rye and jumbo clover, limed and fert.We will see after the rain we are forcasted to get,if it takes.
  20. Like catskillkid said have some one come in with a big Cat loader to pull every thing out. Then the hard part is done.Always could use a small bucket loader after to put the junk where you want it.Or have them dig a big hole while they are there and you can bury most of it.
  21. Just re seeded a smaller plot as that just before the rain this weekend and it's coming up already. The warm weather and the rain is the trick.
  22. X2 on that Doc, it sure look like old farm fields.I hired a fellow to come in with a rock hound to clear my front for a lawn and still spent a week with a York race to get the rocks out, betore putting lime, fert. and seed in.
  23. As said before check the draw length with the bow you are going to use at the time,There is a difference how an older bow and the newer bows Draw.Arrows are normaly cut an inch or an inch and a half longer then your draw length.
  24. Not doing that good here ,you realy have to look to find an apple on any of the trees.Last year the branches were almost touching the ground they were so full.
  25. When we hunted the state land near the Delaware river,Most of the fellows that were walkers carried a 35 marlin. The liked them because they were good for deer and bear.
