I have crumbled Ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs and that works nice too. If you haven't tried Montreal Steak Seasoning, give it a shot. I use it on all kinds of meat, but it is especially perfect for wild game. Sprinkle it on and press it into the meat just before you grill.

Awesome win! Barely made it into the tourney, and now they are Final Four! Nice time to gel together and win with the full court press!

Heading to eastern Kansas to see some friends and we are planning to turkey hunt together. Has anyone ever hunted that area for Turkey? Looking for some guidance mostly on location, but also if the tactics are any different than hunting them in NY. (probably not) We will be on public land and in the middle to northern part of eastern Kansas. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I like all the Alaska shows and can't wait to go there this summer. By far my favorite series was The Last Alaskans, it was only 10 or 11 episodes and didn't have a lot of the manufactured drama in it. Much more of a documentary style.

If they had reasonable cause to do so, I wouldn't have a choice. They would have a court order allowing them to search my home or car, and they should be able to search my phone too. That's the issue. When it is justified under reasonable cause and a court order. I think we are forgetting the details of this particular case....they are terrorists and murdered innocent people. If one of those victims were a loved one of yours, I'm pretty sure your opinion would be different.

Yea, really. Not the shooting of executives part, of course. And sure, Apple can challenge a court order, but I hope they lose. If it were your landline or home computer, they would already have everything they need. Your smart phone should be treated no differently. And all this should be based on probable cause, which in this particular case they have in spades. I don't think that's lazy anarchy, it is responsible government - formed for the protection of the greater good.

Check out The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime - great series, I was very impressed. The premise is that Germany and Japan won WWII and split the USA. It takes place in the 1960's.

Josey Wales, Jeremiah Johnson, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, True Grit, several others. Just watched 3:10 to Yuma this weekend. All are channel surf stoppers for me. I'll add The Revenant to that list when it hits my TV too. Saw it in the movie theatre and it was really good. Might even go again!

I must be on their list then, I just got another postcard asking me to participate in their survey about small game hunting. And I get the waterfowl one every year too, but I think that is automatic with a HIP registration.

I wish I had kept a copy of it. I think it had about 50 or 60 questions. Basic questions to start...age, county of residence, how often you hunt, where you hunt, how you hunt, and other hobbies. Then more direct questions related to if you preferred to see or be able to harvest deer for meat, or for trophy. I believe there were a few sections where you could add a comment, but most of it was a 1-5 scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. It was totally anonymous, I don't remember filling out my name, and I didn't even put a return address on the envelope.

I took your survey, and I was also one of the 2700 or so that sent in my Cornell survey. I agree that 2700 sounds like a small sample, but depending on several factors such as geography, type of hunter (bow, gun, xbow) age, etc, it's hard to say if it was an accurate representation of the hunting population.

How did you find the ice at Lewis Point?

Watching it here, I like about half the stuff on. Lady Gaga did an awesome tribute, I hate to admit, I've become a big fan of hers over the last couple of years.

Who's Taking a Youth Out for the Spring Youth Season?
Otto replied to letinmfly's topic in Turkey Hunting
I have a young man interested in turkey hunting. As soon as we get decent weather we will spend some time sighting in and going over the process. I got him a slate call a couple of months ago, I hope he has been driving his parents nuts with it! -
I would be looking for new land now. But, It would not hurt to talk to the landowner and make an offer if possible. Stress that it would be more valuable to accept a lower offer now and put that money in the bank now, rather then wait who knows how long until it does sell. Plus you've put some improvements into the land, that might be worth some brownie points. Money talks, BS walks. Sometimes it is hard to say no to a written offer and nice deposit check.

Thanks Roadkill, next young deer, I'm going to try it.

I've kept the hearts and ate them, delicious! I have been tempted to try the liver too, but just can't bring myself to that. I barely like beef liver, but Pâté is great!

The best solution would be to find a good friend that wants or has beagles too, and just hunt with them all the time! My friend had a kennel full of beagles and we rabbit hunted together several times, great fun, and working with the dogs is the best part. They are stubborn, but that is what makes them such great hunters. We also hunted with another friend of his that had a Rottweiler, best dam rabbit dog I ever saw......

Welcome back! I love Ontario for the fishing, never hunted there, but I'll bet its pretty good. I think your taxes in NY will actually be lower than in Ontario!

Kludes, I have no experience trapping, but I enjoy your pictures and seeing your success! Thanks for posting! Otto
