  1. One of the best parts of the entire deer, I soak it in salted water overnight, then put it in teryaki , and some other spices for a couple of hours. I froze part of one once, and it was not nearly the same as fresh.
  2. I have a John Deere 4410, hydrostatic transmission with a snow plow on the front. Very capable of taking care or my 400' driveway in CNY, plus mowing, grading, trail cutting and a lot more. Great advice above, but also check out www.tractorbynet.com Loads and loads of information from people that really know tractors, plus a lot of other interesting topics.
  3. They taste like mushrooms! I slice them as thick as bread and fry in butter over low to medium heat. When you slice through it, it should be white all the way through. Also try to cook it the day you pick or next day, not later. Bon Appetit!
  4. Thankful that you made it back in time to have a peaceful last goodbye. My condolences to you and your family.
  5. Nice looking Brittany! It's amazing how much natural ability they have. I am constantly reminding myself to trust his instincts over what "I want him to do". Always works out better for both of us.
  6. What is "local"? I'm in Camillus, near Syracuse.
  7. I picked a big puffball yesterday afternoon, going to try some up for dinner tomorrow night.
  8. Breasts are like martinis, one is not enough, three is too many, and two are just right.
  9. On a hot summer day, it taste pretty good for a glass or two, then it's time for beer.

    Drone

I have the Phantom Standard model. There is a remote control that controls the drone, and you use your cell phone to create a wifi connection with the drone, so you can see from the camera where the drone is flying. There are also flight stats on the phone showing distance, height, and other data. You can take pictures and videos from there. I have only flown mine a few times and I am careful to fly in open areas and within my sight. I'm still a newbie for sure. I took some pictures this weekend of my camp, I'll post when I return home later this week. I'm sure newer models have a lot more options and the basic ones are dropping in price.
  11. Thanks Phade, I was hoping you would reply. The fresh batteries did the trick. I put a bunch of new ones in my pack too, next time I go pull cards, I plan to freshen the batteries too. I will probably use a sharpie to write the date on them too so I can keep track of when I put them in. On a related subject......can I use SD and SDHC cards interchangeably? I seem to remember my Wildgame cameras instructions said to use SD only, but the are hard to find. Everything is well is SDHC.
  12. Ouch, finger injuries suck! Amazing how much you'll miss using that one finger at 100%.
  13. Yep, that did it! Surprised that the batteries I had on hand were not strong enough to run the camera. They were fine in a flashlight? Thanks for the pointers.
  14. Thank you, I'll go buy a new package of batteries at the store and see if that helps.
  15. I have two Cuddeback trail cameras and both of them show "low battery" even thought they both have fresh batteries in them. I even tested the batteries on a voltmeter. They shut down after 20 seconds or so. One is 2 years old, the other over 5 years. Does anyone have any suggestions on preparing this or as to why it is happening? Thanks!
  16. I went to Square Tail last year, it's a great place, there are tons of walleyes there. We caught a few pike too. Did you use their guide? We did and I'm glad we did, took a lot of guess work out of a huge lake! I would go back there in a heartbeat, maybe next year. Nice pictures, can't wait to go back myself!
  17. My daughter lives in Crown Heights, and she is on St Marks Ave too! But in an older building, not new construction. It is a pretty decent neighborhood, she moved there from Harlem a few weeks ago. It is a longer subway commute into Manhattan where she works, but not bad at all, half an hour tops. It takes longer to drive there in your car. I would not call Crown Heights gentrified, it is very mixed. Even the part of Harlem where she lived was mixed, some nice building and stores, then one block over, old and sketchy. It's NYC, you get what's available unless you can afford a lot of money for rent or are willing to share small apartments with several people. When you are young and twenty, it's a great place! I'm fifty-five and and love my open spaces and a car in the garage. Good luck to your daughter, she's smart enough to finish medical school, she will manage Brooklyn just fine.
  18. My friend gave me some steaks cut like that and I did not care for them. My regular butcher leaves no bones in and the steaks are much smaller and thicker, which I like better.

    Fishing Boats

I have a 17 foot Lund with a flat floor, which I appreciate more and more as the years go by. This past weekend I had a two year old in the boat and he was able to walk around a little without tripping over anything and dealing with the vee-bottom. Mine is also tiller steer, which also opens up room inside the boat to move around. For most lakes around here 16-18 foot aluminum vee-bottom boats will serve you well. For HP, I would say a minimum of 20 and up to 50 for that size boat. You cN easily find a good used boat in those sizes from $1500-6000, depending on your budget and luck with the used market.
