  1. You forgot to mention what flavor scent your pee is... Maxwell House, Mocha Frappuccino, Cranberry juice, Jack Daniels, Pabst, ... Assuming it might make a difference?
  2. Can't believe I'm going to actually say this... Might be better off checking out a reputable rec vehicle dealers used inventory! Ouch, I said it!! May have ck'ed out their used ATVs already, possibly offer some limited warranty or stand behind their sales. We all know dealing with a private seller can have some issues like un-disclosed issues that the buyer won't uncover until after the sale. Then it's Tough $hit!
  3. First time I saw these e-bikes I thought they were a great product. A way for an aging or physically limited hunter to go to & from a semi-remote hunting location w/o a lot of physical exertion. Then I realized I'm at my hunting location assisted by the e-bike, now what do I do to get a deer out of the woods if I'm lucky enough???? This criteria took me to a higher powered e-bike with a trailer attachment option. Put me into a whole different $$ range!! FYI - about the same $$ range as a good, used 350/500 ATV. I'm sticking with my deer cart & slowly walking to my stands. Curious as to how NYS views these used on/along the road. Is it like a bicycle or more like a scooter needing a license??
  4. Photo of Kunox is priceless and worthy of a caption, just can't decide what it should read. Back off, this is mine! Did I do good daddy?
  5. Got 'em all, but the phone word prefix. Don't recall that locally, but do remember it being on TV ads back in the day. Was this specifically an urban thing?
  6. As you noted, a little too late this year. A few other threads about this very topic, Search the forum. Next year: Make attempts to meet face-to-face, Letters or phone calls are too easily ignored & impersonal, During late spring &/or early summer months, Be polite & respectful, even if denied, Know when to take a NO or offer to return at a better time/day, Have written/verbal proof of your character, (locals you know, employment, military, spouse, etc) Clearly explain your hunting ethics, weapons &/or intent if approved, Strictly a bow hunter might get more consideration than a gun hunter, for obvious reasons, Offer sweat-equity, venison or even a stipend as offer of appreciation, If granted permission, cultivate the relationship with land-owner.
  7. First time I've heard you use the Rutting Moon and photo-periodic effects in the same discussion. New hybrid rut initiation theory? Please explain, I just don't get it!!?!! Not challenging your opinion or thinking, I just want to understand it! SO... As lessening sunlight (shorted daylight hours) at some point triggers the glands, blah, blah & encourages the urge to breed, how is added indirect sunlight from a full moon enhancing this??? I'm no expert, this just seems to be a contradiction & hard for me to fathom.
  8. .... but there are those that claim they don't give a good blood trail! IDK, never had this happen to me when using Spitfires &/or the Maxx versions! Most I've shot w/Spitfires have gone down within sight or at least I heard them crash.
  9. Rubber (insulated) boots generally tend to keep the cold away from your feet better than leather boots. The #1 tip for keeping your feet warn; don't smoke or get old! Do as I say, not....
  10. What about the seeking phase, not as chaotic as when bucks are chasing does past your stand/blind. Back to the Oak Duke's prediction - anyone else have any luck or even many daylight BB sightings when there's a full moon?
  11. Lets not jump to any conclusions folks .. I've hunted the Town of Sodus (8F) for past ~15yrs and ain't seen no buck close to that behemoth! I wish..! Very nice buck and esp so early in the season!
  12. FYI - When you get all s/u to hunt with these BHs.. reach down and insure blades are completely nested. Found a couple times mine got .. loose after walking thru woods, brush. That'd definitely make them fly erratically with a blade (s) pre-maturely deployed.
  13. Unfortunately I do not subscribe to NYON anymore! Have you come out with your annual rut prediction for 2019? We don't always agree, but do find them interesting reads..

  14. He'll grow into it eventually!
  15. Who cares? Question should be - Does he get your heart pounding &/or adrenaline flowing? Alex, I'll take Deer Age & Wgt for $100. Answer: for bushlot bucks a 3.5/4.5yo and about ~145#. Alex, same category for $200. Answer: for same pictured buck residing in close proximity to agr crops would be 2.5yo & still ~145#. See the issue us contestants have with the general age/wgt question w/o knowing at least local food sources???
  16. Wouldn't be thinking about playoff hopes just yet..! The Bills are heart-breakers in the post-Kelly era as any long time fan will tell you. Nice to dream though...!
  17. I've used the Spitfire and and current MAXX's for the past 5 Xbow seasons with good performance & harvests. Don't know about any other mechanical BHs, but bt design all are the "cut on contact" type. Does take some resistance to make them deploy, so the entry wound should be minimal compared to the exit wound. Just me, but I don't care how they perform on a block target, rather how they fly compared to field point. BTW - I don't know if these BHs actually deploy within a block or not, only occasionally will the very tip extend out the back of my ~15" block target. Obviously when you pull them out the blades are folded forward again. I'd have to think you'd find the same kind of reviews for the NAP Spitfires as you would the Rages. Love 'em or hate 'em, nothing in between!
  18. Reminds me very much of the study "experts" do on the health benefits of eggs about every decade. Seems to alternate between okay to eat, to eggs are super bad. WTH??? JMO, beef has out-priced itself and most consumers look at $/serving rather than taste appeal. If you don't have a family budget, this isn't an issue...
  19. Hope there was a lesson learned! Misses and to a certain extent lost deer hopefully make hunters more diligent about their tactics, shot opportunities and better with their equipment. Haven't we all been there/done this? Makes us better hunters after we get over the shame and vow to improve!
  20. You're a saint, dude. Not to mention your two 4-legged angels! And ... to do this on a (semi-) voluntary basis, absolutely amazing! Going to stay tuned to this love/hate thread! Love what you & dogs accomplish, but hate some of the circumstances as to why you're called.
  21. Love those funky racked mature bucks. Might have taken an arrow last fall...?
  22. I bought my 10pt Turbo in 2014. So the model has been around at least that long & assuming a good seller. Can't imagine it disappearing, but marketing dictated this not my opinion! Same generally applies to compound bows as for Xbows, you do NOT need the latest or greatest in the 200# &/or 400fps bow to kill deer in NYS. Esp with the $$ of some of the newest Xbow models!!!!
  23. Big fan of southern rock music! A music genre that disappeared.
  24. Understand wanting to do a Euro skull mount, but doing it via the grave-robber method is way beyond my queasiness factor. Am I missing something? When the guy removes the bucket from over the mummified skull, isn't the end of one main beam missing? Unlike the buck's rack as shown when shot or prepared.... Hummm?
